Can i set up multiple desktop screens to view at once?

I am trying to set up a view different desktop views that I can alternate between. Is this possible?

1) will this work across platforms, using SSH on the Windows machine?
You can ssh on any unix/linux/mac/windoze computer
have a look at putty which is an ssh client for windows.
2) Once a connection is established, can I use the GUI to handle file transfers, or would I have to do all of that from the terminal?
Yes, once you enable SSH on your mac (ie Turn on remote login in the sharing prefs) it also enables an SFTP server as well. So you dont need to use the command line to initiate the connection.
So you can use any PC SFTP client.I am not sure of the best PC SFTP client so you will have to google. Most SFTP clients allow drag and drop file transfers. From a mac to a mac the best SFTP client is transmit.

It's not completely obvious. What you have to do in Spaces is to position your cursor to the upper right of the screen, after which faint + (plus) sign appears in that area. Click that, upon which another Desktop will appear.
The + may be difficult or impossible to see with some desktop backgrounds (black, for instance):

why can't i save multiple images to camera roll at once? it seems i can only save one at a time and its very frustrating..
the options seem to be there, they are just greyed out and i cant click on them.
at first i thought its because the images were too big, so i tried it with smaller images but same thing.

I can confirm @khaniff's original post the option in iPhoto for iOS is greyed out in conflict with the referenced article that follows:
Save to the Camera Roll
Tap a photo, album, or event and tap .
Tap Camera Roll.
Confirm or change the photos you want to share by tapping an option.
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
To use your photo in another app, open the app and select the Camera Roll album.

Then something is wrong. Changing the schedule will only deal with the symptom (and give up one of the better features of Time Machine's usually quick and unobtrusive hourly backups).

If you make their account either managed or standard then they won't be able affect your personal user account which should be admin. Only admin accounts can control other users.

If it was me, I would first look into Teamviewer to see if it will do what you need. It does work between Mac and Windows and it is free for non-commercial use. http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx
