I bought an AppleTV about a month ago. I have a router and everything I need; expect for internet. My husband and I do not have internet, I normally go 2 hours north to my parents house when I need to update my phone/ipod. Is there a way to set up my Apple TV without internet?

Could I AirPlay from my iPad to Apple TV with CloudFTP without any other wireless network setup nor any internet connection ?

I believe you need an Internet connection only to authorize the computer. Once this is done, Internet access is not needed to play content. I just turned off my Airport, spun up iTunes, and it played fine, so I believe this is in fact the case.

Good info. I had no idea that headphone jacks were also mini-optical - even on MacBooks. Wasn't paying attention. An airport express would have been the best choice, but since I have the Apple TV already, getting an HDMI computer monitor (like a Samsung for $139) so I can set up the Apple TV may be the answer versus spending $100 for an AirportExpress and having a superfluous Apple TV.

Airport utility should allow you to manage and change the settings on your current Airport. I don't have my Apple in front of me now (at work on on a PC ) but you can change the WiFi password as well as disable it.

Sorry, you are wrong. Apple did NOT say Apple Pay would be available on all Apple devices. Apple SPECIFICALLY stated that Apple Pay is available ONLY on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Previous Apple devices, including your iPod Touch, simply do not have the hardware chip (called NFC) to make it possible.

The first message that AirPort Utility will display during the auto setup will be that the Express will be confgured to "extend" the network. When AirPort Utility analyzes the network further, and sees that the Express cannot "extend" the 3rd party network, the next message will indicate that the Express is being configured to "join" the wireless network.
Once the Express is configured, if you later go into AirPort Utility to check the settings under the Wireless tab, you will see that the Wireless Mode is indeed "Join a wireless network".

If you disassociate the device from your AppleID and tie it to another one, you cannot use yours to control the other. They will be separate and independent. For better or worse, the AppleID authentication and authorization model was not designed with kids in mind.
