Can i set up my iPad and iPod to use iMessage between the two devices with the same Apple ID?

Can i set up my iPad and iPod to use iMessage between the two devices with the same Apple ID? SO i could iMessage if out from my iPod to my iPad at home to be viewed by a family member?

Look into using Apple Configurator.  It's the easiest way to "reimage" and Manage iPads that I know of right now.

Also, look into using the Educational Volume Purchase Program, if you have not already done so.

  • If i buy a new ipad and bring it to England will it still work with the different voltages and the 3G/4G?

if i buy a new ipad and bring it to England will it still work with the different voltages and the 3G/4G?

They both seem to cover the same 3G bands - from http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/ :
    Wi-Fi + 4G for AT&T model: 4G LTE (700, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
    Wi-Fi + 4G for Verizon model: 4G LTE (700 MHz); CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz);UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
CDMA isn't any use here as there aren't any UK CDMA based carriers, they are all GSM/sim card based (I'm not aware of any CDMA carriers in Europe). As the AT&T version appears to support an extra 4G LTE band then that might be the better one.

  • Can I use iCloud to sync two devices with different apples Ids?

Can I use iCloud to sync two devices with different apple ID's

What do you mean by "apple ID"?  There's an ID you can use at the iTunes store to buy songs, apps, etc.  there's an ID you can use for your iCloud account - the two can be different or the same. So which service are you referring to when you talk about an apple ID?

  • How do you set up your Ipad and Ipod to have two distinct identities

I bought my granddaughter and Ipod for Christmas, and have recently got an Ipad Air.  Since she was underage, opened account in my name, but having problems when messaging other people, for them to tell if it is coming from me or my granddaughter

in settings on the pad - you can name it whatever you want to - different than the pod.  I do not know if you can rename the pod in the pod settings, buy i believe you can.  That way you can sync both to the same computer / i tunes, and see what is what.
As respects messages.  In settings, imessage (and face time) take a look at what you have declkared as your 'recieve at ' addresses.  If they are the same, messages will go to both.  you can assign different addresses to each device (all unrelated to your apple ID), as long as they are valid e mail addresses.
does the grandkid have her won e mail adderss?
or you can simpky tuen messages off on her device - but that is no fun.

  • I need advice on setting up numerous iPads and Macs for use in a school

    Hi
The school I work with has purchased 15 iPads and currently runs 6 macs. As I understand it there are limitations to the number of devices (both mac and iPad included) you can tie to one apple id.
I need to know what you need to do in order to get numerous devices connected and more importantly managed through a single apple id.
The iPads are to be used as an educational tool for the students and will be completely locked down in terms of web / youtube twitter access.
    Thanks

For the iPads, you can use Apple Configurator to install apps on all 15 iPads using a single Apple ID. For paid apps, you will need to enroll in Apple's Education VPP program http://www.apple.com/education/volume-purchase-program/ which will allow a single Apple ID to purchase multiple licenses of an app. And best of all, you can save 50% of the cost on most apps when buying 20 copies or more. So even if you only need 15 licenses of a paid app, its cheaper to purchase 20 through VPP and save 50%. Using Apple Configurator, I would "Supervise" the iPads and install the apps (and configuration profiles) to all iPads.

I'm not sure if they have a similar program to VPP for the OS X computers…
But the limit you are referring to is for a single personal Apple ID (not for multiple users) that is allowed to be associated with a total of 10 devices (up to 5 computers and the rest on iOS devices). Example you can have 5 computers and 5 iOS devices, 3 computers and 7 iOS devices, but not 6 computers and 4 iOS devices.
    From http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#SERVICE
Association of Associated Devices is subject to the following terms:
    i) You may auto-download iTunes Auto-Delivery Content or download previously-purchased iTunes Eligible Content from an Account on up to 10 Associated Devices, provided no more than 5 are iTunes-authorized computers.
Again this is for a single user. For multiple users like in schools you need to use VPP to purchase multiple licenses and it will allow you to install on multiple devices using a single district Apple ID.
    Hope this helps!

  • TS4036 Why can I only see my iPad and not my iPhone backup on my new device?

I am switching my white iPhone 4 to a black iPhone 4.  I have backed up the wht iP4 to the cloud and my blk iP4 only see's my iPad and not the wht iP4.  What am I missing?

Make sure your black phone is using the same or higher version of iOS as your white one, and that it is signed into the same iCloud account.

  • Will ipod touch settings copy to a new iphone with cloud / same apple id?

My daughter has an ipod touch 4th generation. I had set the restrictions on her touch, but have since forgotten the password.
We are giving her an iphone 5c for the holidays and I'm wondering if she uses the same itunes/apple account for her phone as her touch, will the restrictions automatically copy from her ipod to her new iphone. I believe that we have only set up icloud to backup music and apps.
Part two, if I may... My daughter had purchased some in app features befpre I placed the restrictions on her ipod. When I placed the restrictions on, those additional features were not available to her any longer (she can still see them on her touch, but the icons are grayed out). I think the only way for me to get rid of that setting without the password is to restore to factory settings. Again, are those restriction settings saved anywhere else, like the cloud, or even the itunes backup that I use from my pc computer?
Thanks very much for your advice. Happy holidays to all.

The same purchases will be available on the new iPhone using the same Apple iD.
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store then switch Music ON.

  • HT1918 2 daugheters received an iPad. Both are on my iTunes account. How to differentiate the two devices in the Game Center?

So my two daughters (aged 7 & 9) each received an iPad for Christmas.  They are interested in the same games and I installed them on their device.  Because I registered both of their iPads on my iTunes account, when play these games they are "me".  I would like to differentiate the two so they are each playing their own account.  Do I need to create seperate iTunes accounts for them?  If I do that, I can't install the apps that I have already bought.  There must be a way!  Any help would be appreciated.

The reason you are receiving each other's text messages is because you are both using the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To prevent this you need to use different IDs.  (Note: you can still share the same ID for iTunes.)  On one of the phones, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.
To migrate your 3GS to a new iCloud account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep on the phone to your camera roll.  To do this, open the my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  Next, if you have any notes that you are syncing with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to email these to yourself so they can be recreated after moving to the new account.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, choose Keep On My iPhone.  Next, sign back in with a different Apple ID to create the new account, turn iCloud data syncing preferences and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, if you have merged data in the two accounts that you want to separate you will have to go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want from each account.

  • How to use the find Iphone app on two devices with the same itunes and apple id number?

I have two Iphones connected to the same apple id . I am unable to use the find my iphone app on both devices. It only works on one!! Please help! It is driving me crazy lol!!

The app should locate both phones if they are using the same iCloud account and the app is signed into the account.  If they are using different account, sign out, then sign back in with the other account to track the other phone.
If one of them isn't showing and you're signed into the correct iCloud account, go to Settings>iCloud on the phone in question and turn Find My iPhone Off, then back On.

  • Different subset of songs to sync between an ipad and ipod

I have an ipod classic that is large enough to accommodate my entire itunes library. I don't want, however, to load the entire library of songs on to my new ipad. It won't fit in any event. Can I set up itunes, ipad, and ipod so that when I sync my ipod, all the songs are loaded but for the ipad, only those songs I want on the device are considered? In other words, I only want, nomially, 16-20 GBytes of songs on the ipad, chosen by me, and all 64 GBytes on my ipod.

Sync selected playlists. iTunes will recognize each device as unique. You can continue to sync everything to the Classic and then selected playlists to the iPad. The current version of iTunes also allows you to sync selected artists and albums. These options will be on the Music pane in iTunes when the iPad is connected.
    Best of luck.

  • HT3529 Can I set up an iphone and two itouches to the same apple id and use imessages?

I would like to set up my daughters Itouches on my Itunes account so I can manage them.  Will we be able to use imessages between my iphone and the two itouches if they are all registered to the same apple id?  I tried to put a different email for the itouch but it will not allow me to send a message.  Would appreciate any help!  How does this all work?  Or will they need thier own apple id and itunes account?  I am hoping not  as it is much easier to manage all the devices and music from one account! :-) Thanks!!

  • HT4914 I have 25 GB of songs on my Ipod. I want to buy an IPAD. If I use ICloud to sync my music, will the IPAD use 25 gigs of space? I am trying to decide which I pad to get and 32 Gigs would be plenty, if the 25 gigs already on my Ipod do not count.

I own an Ipod with 27 GB of music. I am considering an Ipad. If I use ICloud to sync my devices, will the new Ipad use 27 GB? The answer to this question will affect which GB size Ipad that I buy. Thanks!

If you put the music on the ipad, then it will use the space.

  • If i used the same apple id and email to set up both my ipad and ipod what can i do to be able to use face time to call from one device to the other

if i used the same apple id and email to set up both my ipad and ipod what can i do to be able to use face time to call from one device to the other

They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime.  Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server.
