Can I set 'watched folders' to automatically import media to my library?

One thing I've long missed in iTunes is the ability to auto-import new music as and when I drag it into one of my music folders. Unfortunately, as I keep my music in a few different places (one large folder for my album collection, one large folder for my iTunes and 'singles' collection, DJ stuff, audio projects for work etc...) the options provided to me by Apple don't really seem like they're going to work for me. For instance, if I click 'File>Add to Library' then it's going to take me forever to remember which tracks are new since I last updated, and in which folders; I can't just re-add the entire folder tree as there's a lot of them and I'll probably end up with a load of duplicate entries. iTunes' supposed 'Automatically add to iTunes' folder also won't work for the same reason. I actually can't see how that folder helps; surely people want to automatically add ALL their new media to their media player program? I can't see anybody placing their whole music collection within a single folder called 'Automatically add to iTunes'?!! Surely there's a better way to watch a variety of folders for new media and import it automatically as it's created??!

That is not how Automatically Add works. Once iTunes notices a file in the Automatically Add folder, it immediately whisks it away to its "natural" iTunes location, i.e. in Artist/Album folders under the designated iTunes Media folder, and creates a library entry. And the Automatically Add folder will be once again empty.
Try it with one file so you can see it in action. Perhaps it will meet your needs.

Lightroom is marketed to professionals and prosumers with tens of thousands of photos who demand adequate organizational capabilities, whereas Photoshop Elements is marketed to consumers, most of whom do not want or use the Organizer.

No - and you can't open pdf files in the Pages app on the iPad anyway as far as I know. You can export a Pages file as a pdf but you can't open them in Pages.

You can't change the folder structure within iTunes, but you can easily change the view to sort by Genre.

Editing some photos on a MacBook, I get them on the Photo Stream on my iMac. Having set "automatically import Photo Stream to Library" in preferences, I still don't get them in the iMac photo library. How can I achieve this?

I've set the Photo Stream preferences to "automatically import to Library" - but that does not happen. How can I get these new photos into my "old" iMac photo library?

The monthly events "Feb2014" will show you all photos that have been imported from "My Photo STream", if you have enabled "Automatic Import" in the "Preferences > iCloud" tab.
The albums you are seeing under "iCloud" are the "Shared Photo Streams" and "My Photo Stream". To import from your "Shared Streams" drag the photos frommthe Shared Streams album to the Projects in the library panel.

You can create folders in iOS Pages in a manner similar to creating and using Folders as described in Chapter 3 of the iOS User Guide found as a special bookmark in Safari. Well worth reading.
In Pages Document View (where you see thumbnails of each document) tap on a document and drag it over another document to create a folder. Additional documents can then be dragged into the folder. To remove a document in a folder, tap, hold then drag out of the folder.
There are limits: each folder can only hold 20 documents and you cannot nest folders or place a folder inside another folder.

How can I tell LR not to automatically import pictures after editing and saving?

Whenever I open a RAW file from LR into Photoshop and save it within Photoshop as a tiff or whatever, it gets automatically imported to the LR catalog. Is there a way to avoid this?

It does stack with the original on my computer. Opening the raw image in Photoshop as a smart object does allow you to go back to the raw file in Camera Raw. And it adjusts the raw file. But when you close Camera Raw you are back working on the image in Photoshop. All the work you do in Photoshop is saved in the TIF or PSD. If you then go back to Lightroom and delete that TIF or PSD file you have thrown away all the adjustments done in Photoshop. Of course the raw file will be impacted by the adjustments that you made in Camera Raw, and it affected the TIF or PSD. But you're still throwing away all the Photoshop work.

It stinks having to clean up each folder individually by name of file. Is there a way to do this as a system preference so it will do it automatically for everything?

In the case you mentioned (COMMAND J) the answer is yes;
This is the default option on my MBP where one can change the parameters and they will always be reflected as such. Take note of the sliders, text size and so forth.

Can I set up a template for importing images in QT Pro?

I would like to set up a process where I define a "template" of how I want a QT Pro movie to be created by importing a bunch of image files in a folder. For example, I would specify it to import image1,image2, image3 etc. that would all be in a folder. Once imported into QT I would define various time points in the movie with names like, Part1, Part2 etc. Then I would save this out using a particular compression choice. Now I would like to take that template and point it at another folder whose image names would be the same (i.e. image1, image2, etc.) but the images would actually be different pictures. This way I could create a series of movies that all have the same compression and time point names (I think in QT these are called chapters), but are actually movies of different things. Is this possible with QT Pro? If not, which QT creation tool would allow me to do this?

QuickTime is AppleScript aware and has its own "dictionary". Many scripts and droplets have already been compiled and you can download them from this link:

Some need further editing to update them to version 7 features but it's not difficult using the Script Editor app.
Tiger's new Automator app could also be used but its feature set is rather basic. Newer actions are available for download from the Mac OSX Downloads page.

How can I get iPhoto to NOT automatically import photos when I plug in my phone?

I use iPhoto to do quick, simple touch-ups to my pictures, but when I am in the middle of editing and plug in my phone just to charge, it automatically begins a new import and takes me away from my work, which is beyond annoying. If I want to import my cell phone pictures, I am savvy enough with the program to do it manually when I want to. I have tried navigating 'Preferences' and there appears to be no way to change this, which is a poorly missed feature. Help?

iPhoto doesn't import anything unless you tell it to. All it's doing is offering to import. No you can't stop that window appearing. You'll just have to click cancel.

Can't set date and time automatically thru Airport Extreme

We have an Airport Extreme that serves as the router for our home network. No computer using the Airport (wirelessly or via ethernet) can set it's date and time automatically. If I bypass the Airport and hook a computer directly to the ISP's modem via ethernet, date and time works fine. The Airport is up to date (v7.4.2) This has been a problem for quite a while now and it doesn't matter what OS is used (current is 10.6). I don't have any firewalls set up that I know of.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's done with AirPort Utility, not your computer.
Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Then click the Base Station tab below the icons
There is a check box +Set Time Automatically+ and choose a region and Time Zone
Click Update to save your changes

When I select a new page to bookmark, it goes into the unsorted bookmarks folder. I would like to set up my bookmarks to go into my bookmark folder and to automatically alphabetize the folder. Is this possible?
