Can I setup two Apple TVs on two separate tvs in the same house?

I have one Apple TV set up and received a second for Christmas. Can I use the second on another tv without any issues?

  • Can I configure a wireless home network with two cable routers (both with separate connections to the same cable company)?  Issue is poor signal strength even with multiple Airport Expresses added to the network.

I have a wireless home network consisting of a time capsule, two airport expresses and a cable modem.  Even with this configuration I get a very weak signal in much of be condo - the walls, etc. are solid concrete. I want to see if I can add another separately connected cable modem and connect one of the existing airport express to it by Ethernet cable.  If so, this would give me two wired hubs and greatly improve signal strength. I do not know if this configuration will in fact work or if I will just wind up with two, separate and unrelateable networks.  Unfortunately, there is no way to run any additional Ethernet cable and I doubt simply adding more Airport Express will help. Thanks.

Try Ethernet over Power adapters.. these are very popular for your kind of environment.. being able to make non-wireless link to another area where you can setup a wireless access point.
Airport Express are not great for wireless power.. if you really have issues with wireless strength in a bad environment apple stuff is not the way to go.
    The comparison chart here.

This is their worst test location you can also see averages.. the latest airport extreme.. is there a long way down.. and that is a much better wireless device than Airport Express.
The Ubiquiti power AP is small cheap and designed for precisely this duty.. useless in an apple wireless network.. you will need to run ethernet or EOP adapters back to the main router.. but if the normal omni directional antennas don't provide enough signal you can get directional ones.. I suspect you can cover your whole apartment with a pair of these and high gain directional antenna.

    Hi,
There are two easy fixes to this.
One, you can set up Family Sharing, in which you can have two different iCloud Accounts, yet still share the same apps, music, media etc.
Two, go to Settings and turn-off "Handoff". This can be found under the General page.
    Hope this helps!

  • Apple TV with Multiple Mac's in the same house & a PC

    Question--
I recently got a used Apple TV for christmas. I successfully synched it with my Macbook but I haven't tried to synch the content from my iMac or PC. I'm wondering if I can synch content from two seperate mac's & my PC and not have the content from the first Mac erased. The Apple TV has a 150 GB Hard drive so I figure i can use it as a mass media storage device for all of my computers.
So I am curious if all of my computers can play nice with my Apple TV at the same time without having content erased automatically. I would have already tried it but it takes so long to synch all of my content that I don't want to risk it especially if it doesn't work.
What codecs does the Apple TV support? Can I put Divx and Xvid movies in my iTunes Movies folder and have them play? Or do I need to convert them to an Apple friendly file.
    Thank You

    OK
    Important things first:
1 - there is no way (short of hacking/dismantling) AppleTV to get media off it
2 - therefore you MUST NOT use it as a mass storage/backup device
3 - you must keep copies of files synced (copied) to it in a single iTunes library
4 - if you delete those files and sync again they will go from AppleTV too
You can only sync a single library, but you can stream up to 5.
Codecs are limited to MP4/h264, see here:
    http://www.apple.com/uk/appletv/specs.html
Anything else needs to be converted.

  • How do I use Home Sharing to share apps between multiple Apple ID accounts on differect PCs in the same house?

I purchased an app called "Where's My Water?" on my iTunes account. My iTunes account and iTunes library is set up on my desktop PC. Anyway, my mom wanted the app. She has her iTunes account and library set up on our laptop PC. So, I connected both my desktop and her laptop via Home Sharing by entering my account information on both computer's Home Sharing screens. The app was transferred from my library to her library. When I synced her iPod to her PC, it did not move the app to the iPod. So, I figured I would just manually download it off the app store on her iPod and she wouldn't get charged $0.99 because the app was already in her iTunes library. It turns out when I bought the app on her iPod, it actually took out money from her account. I want to know what went wrong. Why didn't the Home Sharing thing work so she could get the app I bought without having to buy it herself?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"

    No.
And use the new address to call that device.
    What new address?
Perhaps you mean the OP needs to add a new email address for his AppleID and use that email address.
    Yes. That's what I meant.
Change the "You can de Reached by Facetime At" for one of them under Settings->Facetime->You can be Reached by Facetimer At.
I probably should have specified "Change the "You can de Reached by Facetime At"(email address) ...
NOW TO CORRECT:  Even though I said you could, you can't.
I tried this out just now and you can't facetime a device using the same Apple ID.
So yes, you infact need another Apple ID for this. Not just another email address.
My Bad. sorry.  I don't deserve the 10 points.

  • Can two apple TV's in the same house share one itunes library?

Can two apple TV's in the same house share one itunes library and play different movies at the same time?

I have two ATV G2 and one ATV G1 at home with the same iTunes library. I have played two different movies in the ATVs. One interesting thing you get is that you can start one movie and pause it and then you can continue playing it in the other ATV. The iTunes controls where you pause or stop the movie.
Agree that bandwidth is the limit here and probably the server throughput. But, so far I haven't experienced any problem.

    HI
I was trying to take my Mac air to factory default settings.
I've done all that it says in the documment i was following, and them during the process it asked me the APPLE ID.
I put the apple id i have in my iphone. But it's not the one... it's said that i don't have any OSX associated with it... so it can not install the OSX.
    So what can i do?
