Can I share I cloud without sharing texts ?

Can I share a single I cloud acct without sharing texts with all of the devices?

icloud provides many services (mail, contacts, photo stream, etc.) and for any device connected to icloud, you can determine which services it will use.
Settings>icloud, turn on whichever services you want that device to access.  Texts can be administered at Settings>Messages.  You can turn of texting if you like.  Also indicate which addresses the device will respond to.

  • How can I share the internet without any network distribution?

I am facing a problem of internet sharing.
I would like to share my connection from ethernet to airport,
however, when I chose the "internet sharing" box, safari failed to connect to the internet.
After removing the tick of the box, web browsing became normal again.

    thanks!

You'd have to select in Sharing Preferences > Internet Sharing > Share your connection from ETHERNET, and to computers using AIRPORT.

can i upgrade to cloud without upgrading my phone (3G)?

Oh, yes you can update other devices and use the cloud with those, without the need to update the iPhone 3G. If you don't upgrade your phone then you can't get any of the iOS 5 features including iCloud. But your other devices will be fine.

  • Can I Share Playlists using Family Sharing?

Over the past 3 years, my wife and I used iTunes Match to resolve our content sharing issues with Apple.  For the most part, it's been great.  However, we have the same Apple ID for purchases.
We thought Family Sharing would take our shared iTunes media experience to the next level.  We've given it a try.  The good news: each of us can use our own Apple ID and share content via Family Sharing.  The bad news: My wife cannot see all of the playlists we've created under my ID and vice versa.
My guess is with Family Sharing a user can share actual media content only, e.g. songs, books, and apps but cannot share metadata items that live in each user's iTunes library, which is unique by the Apple User ID.
Am I right here?  Or is this simply a bug?  Anyone else experiencing this?
Thank you in advance for responses.

  • Can I share with Windows Without storing password?

Hello Apple Community. I purchased a Mac Mini and am running OS X 10.8.3 with OS X Server on it. I have enabled Open Directory and File sharring using both AFP and SMB so that I can communicate with both my Apple Laptop and my Windows 8 workstation. However, I am quite frustrated with the need to Share files and folders using SMB (windows) and having to keep a password there for my account and my wifes account. I was hoping that using Open Directory I could use as an LDAP server and just have windows authenticate to that. The only other option I can think of is to create a third account and use it for netwok sharing only. Is there way to share with Windows clients using Open Directory where I do not have to store the password?
Links to articles or suggestions greatly appreciated. I use a mixed environment as there are more game options on Windows then OS X, so saying repace the Windows computer is not an option.
    Thanks in Advance.

home sharing works between two (or more) computers on the same network. if iTunes on his machine is running, you can transfer content without needing to touch his computer.
if you have your content on an iPod, you can repopulate a new (empty) library with the files from there. check out this post by Zevoneer.
or, you can Download past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store (the music feature is currently available in the US only).

  • How can you share audiobooks in family sharing?

We use Family Sharing in our family. But on the "purchase" items in iTunes on ipads and iphones there only appears Music, Films and TV Programmes. No Audiobooks. Did Apple just forget them or can I find them somewhere else?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download (which I think is a restriction set by audible.com who supply them to Apple) - you will need to sync/copy them onto each device or computer that you want them on, they won't show in the cloud for redownloading.

  • How can I share my photos without all the iPhoto features

I want to share a photo album with my friend on a DVD ROM disc. He does not use iPhoto so I only need to write my current photos from this album into a DVD ROM, preferable with the folders organized by date.
I used the SHARE->BURN command, but the result is not exactly what I wanted.
My album has 1500 photos, but the DVD that I got from the burn has 5500 photos. It included all the face database clippings and all the thumbnails and modifled version of the photos along with the original copies.
If I could control the content of the DVD, I would like to lose all the face clippings, merge all the original and modified photos and only burn the "final" copy to the disc. i.e. I want a distilled content of my album that is NOT an iPhoto database snapshot. Is there an option I can use to alter the DVD burning preference?

    Nothing.
You need to distinguish between the Photograph and the File that contains it.
The File is what the Finder sees, and shows you - quite correctly - the File data.
The Photographs metadata - including the time the shot was taken - is stored in the Exif. The Finder has no awareness of the Exif, however, photo apps do.
    Some options:
    1. Get your friend to view the Photos in a Photo app, or some app that is Exif aware.
    2. Rename the files to reflect the order you want them in. For instance: create an Album of the pics you want to export, and set them into the order you want. Then File -> Export at the File Name option choose 'Sequential' or Album Name with Number.
    3. Rename the files with the date that they Photos were taken using an app like Shootshifter

  • Can you share a calendar without MobilMe?

My co-worker and I started our own company and wanted to use iCal for our business. I have MobilMe and he had a trial basis of MM. We had our work calendar on both our macs and they sync'd fine (He'd add an event and I would see it or vice versa). His trial version ended and he decided he did not want MobilMe. Now a calendar won't sync up anymore.
Does he have to have MobilMe for us to use iCal as a shared work calendar that we both can access and make changes to? If not, then what are we doing wrong?
    Thanks, Jeff

    Unfortunately, yes.
You may want to investigate BusyCal - Sync calendars on your Mac with MobileMe, Google, and the iPhone.

  • Can you share an album without transferring the photos?

I have two Macs with ALMOST identical iPhoto Libraries. If I create an album on the iMac, is there any way to transfer the album attributes to the MacBook (which already has the photos, just not in an album)?
When I tried it through sharing, I clicked on the option to avoid duplicates, hoping it would give me the album filled with MacBook photos (identical to the iMac photos). Instead it weirdly gives me an album with, say, only 11 of sixty photos. (And those eleven are duplicates as well. No reason as I can tell for what does or does not transfer.)
Am I doing something wrong, or is this even possible?

For what it's worth, depending on the size of your library Old Toad's Tutorial #20 might be of interest. The kicker is the free size limit on the process, 2GB. Otherwise it's an easy way to keep two libraries identical automatically from either computer.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Can you resize a slide without resizing text?

When I try to lengthen my slide, Keynote resizes all of my text, horribly distorting the layout. Is there a way to prevent Keynote from doing this?

    Michael,
I've been trying to replicate your problem without success.
Would you please tell us what you mean by "lengthen" or send an image of your distorted slide?
Normally, to change the size of a slide you use the Document Inspector > Slide Size and Select from available options. Even if you customize the dimensions, the text is usually well behaved.

  • Can I share Creative Cloud with another computer, more specifically Photoshop.

I have two computers in the house. One in my studio and one in the office. The one in the office is connected to my giclee printer and does not have photoshop. I cannot fit the printer in my studio so I want to do my professional prints from the other computer. Can I install my photoshop on that computer as well? If so, how?

    Hi,
Yes, adobe allows up to two of your own computers to have the creative cloud installed.

  • Can I activate I cloud without my ipad? I got stolen but I have my serial number, can I do something?

Hi I got stolen my ipad and I would like to lock it down or locate it. I didn't see any utility at first to use icloud so didn't activate it at first. Can I do something if I got the serial number?

You can report it to the police and give them the serial number. Apple does not track stolen devices. If you did not have iCloud, Find My iPad enable, you cannot turn it on now.
You should consider changing any passwords, contact your bank or credit card company - whoever you need to contact -  since much of your personal and/or banking information is probably on the iPad.
