i just bought an refurbished ipod touch online, but i shipped it to a freight forwarder to see if he could ship it to my country, the shipment got cancelled, and know i have an order standing online, but no where to ship it to. I have a friend who could pick it up at an apple store(i cant send it to his house). but i dont know how to do that. And if that is not possible can i just get my money back?

Apple does not buy back their equipment.

Your phone is carrier locked to a carrier other than the one you are trying to use.
It was apparently hacked to unlock it prior to your attempt to update. Updating has re-locked it to the original carrier.
Contact them and find out what their policy is.

Call the apple tech support line printed in your manual. They may be able to walk you through some troubleshooting. If they can't fix the problem, they can book you an appointment at your apple store. I just went through this yesterday.

They haven't shown up in the refurbished section for a bit so they may be sold out. You probably will need to use eBay, Amazon, etc

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

Using those instructions you may also be able to select PayPal if that is allowed in your country.

There are still several third party service centers out there who offer replacement services for the battery. Google for "iPod battery replacement."
Better yet, see if your 1G iPod Nano qualifes under Apple's 1G Nano recall regarding a batch of nanos shipped with bad batteries. See this article for more details.
