Can I show slideshow using external projector?

I did this with a Keynote presentation, so thought there would be no problem. Hooked up the projector in the same way as before, got the desktop wallpaper on the projector screen, but when I started the slideshow, the projector screen went blank as the slideshow played on the computer screen. Looked all through the preferences to send it out the video link, but didn't find anything.

Welcome to Apple Discussions,
iPhoto is a bit different than Keynote in how it interacts with secondary displays (and projectors).
Slideshows play on the primary display only (computer display).
If you want to see the slideshow on your secondary display you can:
1.) Turn on Display Mirroring so the slideshow shows on both primary and secondary displays:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8525.html
2.) Change the primary display so it is the Projector rather than the computer.
_Go to Apple > System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement
_You will see a small white bar at the top of the blue display icon
_Drag the white bar from your computer screen to the projector (this makes the projector the primary display)
_You can now play your slideshow in iPhoto on the projector
3.) Export your slideshow out of iPhoto as Quicktime and then open it with Quicktime Player and you can move the Quicktime Player window to the Projector display and make it full screen.
I like option #2 the best.
Hope that helps.

  • Can you show slideshow within Lightroom 4.4 in Adobe RGB color space?

Can you show slideshow within Lightroom 4.4 (not export out from LR) in Adobe RGB color space provided that you are using a wide gamut monitor which is capable and hardware calibrated & profiled to show such color space?
If this is possible, what is required to do so in Windows 8 and i7-4770 & HD Graphics 4600 platform or does LR take care of it automatically?
This is very basic question, however, I could not find a clear answer/info from LR documentation, so wish that someone can advice.

Those settings are probably stored in a plist somewhere in ~/Library/Preferences. If you can locate the appropriate file, you should be able to copy it to all the network user folders.

  • IPhoto 9.4.3 - Can't export slideshow using Quicktime Options

Hello - I just upgraded to 9.4.3.  I'm a professional photographer and I've always liked using iPhoto to create slideshows for clients.  One of the best features was the ability to customize the export of the slideshows using the Quicktime options.  Things like resolution (1080x720), frames per second, key frame rate, etc, etc.  After "upgrading" I noticed that the only option on a slideshow export is their pre-packaged sizes and no customization possible.  Am I missing something here?  If not, Apple should consider adding this feature back as the settings can make a huge difference in a pro's world.
    Thanks

That is peculiar. I am also using 9.4.3. and the "Custom" export button is there.
If a button is missing for you, that should be there, try if the button is still missing, when you open iPhoto from a different user account, see: Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the export panel looks o.k. in a different user account, your "Preferences" file may be corrupted. Then remove iPhoto's user preferences.

  • I can't get the "last roll" in iphoto to show up using external drive

hi there, thanks in advance for assistance.
I backed my iphotos a few months ago....have added about 700 since then, so today I backed iphoto again.
in my ex drive I created a new folder, called it "fotodump2009" and let it go.
when I open iphoto to choose a library, the old back up, titled "iPhoto Library" will open but "fotodump2009" won't.
is this a folder name prob?
what's worse, trying to solve the prob, I dragged "fotodump2009" into "iPhoto Library" and the 700 new fotos still won't show.
so I dragged "fotodump2009" back out, but when I click on it now all I get is "iPhotoLibrary" content from a few months back.
in that folder, luckily, the new 700 are there, called "last roll 1,2,3 etc."
so, I can open a library from a few months ago, but my latest back-up is inaccessible, though it's in the folder.
    thanks,
    nerker

on further investigation, both the "iPhoto Library" folders on ex drive and hard drive have the 700 new pics but are in "grey", unclickable.

  • Anybody using iPhoto5 to mirror slideshows using a projector?

How's it working? Do the Ken Burns animations move smoothly on the projection screen? Any tips for an A/V newbie?
    20" iMac G5 2.1 GHz PowerPC   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi everybody.
In case you're reading this and wondering what the answer is, I finally got my set up working. The projected slide show is beautiful! Transitions work wonderfully.
have an InFocus X3 projector, which has native resolution of 1024x768, and so I have to change the resolution of my monitor to match that. I THOUGHT that would be horrible, but as it turns out, it's not bad at all. You can't tell the difference when the slides are projected. The only problem is that the transitions went ever-so-slightly faster. (My theory is that since the screen is not as wide, it didn't take as long for iPhoto to transition the pictures, so it got off the screen faster, thus bringing up the next slide faster.)
In a slide show of 357 photos, this was a pain to work around, but the result is a very nice slide show. I'll be showing it to an audience of around 400 people next month. I'm very relieved to know it actually works!
As a side note: I ordered an Apple VGA cable to connect to the projector, and Apple messed up my order and sent me TWO VGA cables. (You only need one.) Since I've read on the forums about the inconsistent reliability and durability questions of this cable, I think I'll keep the extra.

  • How can I achive sound using external tape recorder

I have connected a tape recorder to the motherboard of the Mac OS X (10.4.11, Power PC G5), and I am trying to listen to a cassette tape through the external computer speakers.
So far I have not been successful, but there is visual evidence that the connection is getting through. More specifically, the input level in the sound window is visually active or flickers when I press play on the tape recorder, and the same activity on the input level stops when I stop the tape recorder.
Here is a summary of the audio troubleshooting I have done in trying to solve this problem:
    1. Ensured the mute button is not check-marked within the input and output windows
    2. Ensured the input and output volume slider levels are moved fully to the right
    3. Noted that volume in the external speakers works for a variety of other sources, including online audio and video podcasts, online radio, and all iTunes audio sources.
    4. Verified that there is audio on the cassette tape itself by playing it on stand alone cassette tape player.
Any additional troubleshooting tips are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi! You probably need a "play through" app such as LINEIN or another one called Audiocorder to do what you want. Tom

  • Can't sign in on external monitor with MBP after Yosemite upgrade

After Yosemite upgrade, when I turn on my MBP, I can't sign in using external monitor with MBP, always could before Yosemite.  Blurred image of my wallpaper shows on monitor, can move arrow on external screen but sign-in only shows up on my computer screen, with no arrow.  Since there is no arrow on the computer screen, and no sign in box on the external monitor, I have to unplug the external video to sign in on the computer, then plug in the monitor again.  Any ideas?

    NOWEK,
Thanks for this suggestion, but so far no joy. I have zapped the PRAM, jammed the Frabitz and smashed the Gafrogsnicker, all to no avail. When the MBP restarts I get a blurred image (extreme "vibrancy") on the external monitor, but no images of the login accounts to choose from or the other options. However, on the MBP screen I get all that. The keyboard and mouse respond, but just doesn't display on the external monitor. This is of interest to me because I have the MBP down in a credenza with other related gear and the external monitor and keyboard up on my desk. It's true I don't have to do this often, but still, it just started this aggravation with Yosemite. Thanks for trying to help.

    Nikolai,
I have created a simple process flow which only calls the external process. The script is on the same host as the process flow is deployed to.
I have used two diffent values for the command parameter.
    1. I placed the full path of the file in the command parameter and left the script parameter blank:
    COMMAND: /edwftp/ppas/scripts/ClearPPAS.sh
    PARAMETER_LIST:
    SUCCESS_THRESHOLD: 0
    SCRIPT:
2.I placed the bash command in the command parameter and the full path in the script parameter.
    COMMAND: /usr/bin/sh
    PARAMETER_LIST:
    SUCCESS_THRESHOLD: 0
    SCRIPT: /edwftp/ppas/scripts/ClearPPAS.sh
Both of these appear to work as they print out the statements inside the script but the files that are supposed to be removed still remain.

The 1310's either have an external antenna connector or an integrated antenna. They don't have both.
The part number AIR-BR1310G-x-K9-R requires and external antenna. AIR-BR1310G-x-K9 has the integrated antenna.

  • When using an external projector, the only thing that shows up on the screen is my desktop screen

When I'm presenting using an external projector, the only thing that shows up on the view screen is my desktop screen.  It will also display a powerpoint file, but only in slide show mode.  No other files (word, excel, etc) or safari will display.  How can I get what I see on my computer screen to show up on the external screen?

Check out this support site about using two monitors, since that's what you're doing when you're projecting:
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202351
You can either set it to "mirror" or arrange the monitors side by side. Then when you want to show the working window on your projector slide it in the direction you set as the second monitor. Many teachers will do this to show a video or powerpoint to their class while working on another document or answering emails.

  • I am trying to hook my macbook pro to a projector, which has a VGA cable. I bought a VGA to HDMI adapter, but whenever I hook it up, the screen on my macbook just goes black and I can't make it do anything else or even show up on the projector.

I am trying to hook my macbook pro to a projector, which has a VGA cable. I bought a VGA to HDMI adapter, but whenever I hook it up, the screen on my macbook just goes black and I can't make it do anything else or even show up on the projector.
My laptop is still on; it just has a black screen that I can't get rid of without shutting down the computer by holding the power button.

    Hey there lynmrigg,
It sounds like have an HDMI to VGA adapter connecting your MacBook Pro and your projector but the screen on your computer goes black and no image appears on the projector. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve or isolate the issue here, named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Idvd slideshow displayed using a projector

    Greetings,
I've prepared a slideshow using iPhoto (with auto Ken Burns effect enabled), then making a QuickTime movie, then bringing into iDVD as a very simple slideshow with a theme page.
This is for my son's school -- I took it there today and projected it onto the wall using a DVD player and a projector and the resolution is terrible... very odd flat-looking areas of color and pixelation.
On the TV it looks pretty good. So is this just something that can't be fixed or is there a "good way" to prepare a slideshow to be projected onto the wall with a projector?
Thanks very much for any help you can offer...
    Patrice

There was another Topic recently regarding the same situation. As I recall, there's nothing you can do about it. It is blown up so large that it shows how the images end up at low resolution and MPEG-2 encoded.
    This may work better:
I was just fiddling with printing to PDF in iPhoto. There are several settings to mess with. I chose 8x10, one phote per page, and then clicked on PDF in the lower-left and chose Save As PDF... My landscape images end up portrait. You'll see that in the print box.
If you open that file in Acrobat Reader 7.0.5, you can click on the Rotate button to get the images oriented properly. Then Window/Full Screen View. Then click your mouse to advance.
Of course, now you need a notebook connected to the projector...
    And then there's Fred's suggestion:
Hook your computer up to the projector and use an iPhoto slideshow.

  • Can I use external APIs to authenticate users?

I have been asked to develop a lightswitch application either as desktop client or HTML client. Now I am confused about the authentication
mechanism in LightSwitch, and it leads a question: Can I authenticate my users from an external website or application?
For the HTML client, I have been thinking that whether I could use external APIs like Facebook Login API to authenticate my users? If I could, the code should be JavaScript, then where should I put it, and how can I configure my LS application?
For the desktop client, same question, if I could identify my users by pulling some user information from an external website, what kind of code/Programming Language shall I use?

    Hey ConnorTx!
This is not supported out of the box.
For in-browser desktop applications, you can hack around this by setting up the social media credentials, then redirecting to your desktop application while passing the self-encrypted credentials.  I explained this workaround in
    this article.
I don't have enough production experience with HTML apps yet.  However when you use Forms authentication, I suspect you can simply fill in the IPrincipal on the HttpContext.Current, then redirect to your HTML app, and the LightSwitch Forms Auth mechanism
would pick up your principal as valid credentials.  I wish I had time to show you some code for this, would make a great blog post :/
    Keep rocking LS!
