Can I shut down my Macbook during the setup screen

Can I shut down my Macbook May 2010 during the setup screen (The Snow Lepoard SetUp Screen)
Because I don't want to set it up due to selling it.
Thanks

Of course. If you didn't set up the MacBook Pro yet, simply hold the Power button to turn it off and sell the MacBook Pro. Remember to give the DVDs that came with your MacBook to the new owner. Tell the new owner to install iLife from the Applications disc

    Yea,
I bought an original CRT iMac  two day's before  they were launched, which got the reseller into trouble, and had it replaced by APPLE.
This was a great learning process for me dealing with the glitches. :-)
I LOVE MAC. Now own 4 and on my 10th. in 15 years + 7  bought for family.

    Hello,
Have you blown the dust out lately?
Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12381/temperature-monitor
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & the Startup right after that for clues.

  • Mail won't close, can't shut down my MacBook Pro

    Dear Apple Community,
since 10.7.4 Mail won't close sometimes. I use mail sometimes in Full-Screen, sometimes in the standard mode. If I'm finished with Mail, I close mail using "cmd+w" & "cmd+Q" or "cmd+Q". The programm is closed (window is gone), but the little blue bubble stays under the Mail icon at the dock. If I want to shut down my MacBook Pro (early 2011) I get the message "Can't shut down. You have to end Mail."
This *****. Any suggestions for a fix?

I had this issue and got frustrated having to force quit all the time.
I usually quit all programs with shortcut keys.
MAIL now quits everytime if I just click Mail-Quit Mail
Don't use shortcuts to quit it and it will be fine

  • Why is it that after using I-Tunes then closing it I can't shut down my MacBook Pro

If I open I-Tunes then close it the next time I go to shut down my MacBook Pro it just sits there with a gray screen and a spinging wheel all night  It does'nt do that with any other app's

Weird.  If this were happening to me, I would check/reset the Energy Saver preferences having to do with startup scheduling and or automatic restart. I would also consider deleting associated preference files in /Library/Preferences. I would also try resetting the System Management Controller and/or resetting NVRAM and PRAM.

  • I can't shut down my macbook air.

The problem starts when suddenly I can't move my cursor using my track pad. It happens that I'm not able to use my keyboard too. I tried to use a mouse to move the cursor and it works. Then I tried to shut it down by clicking the apple icon with my mouse, the screen went black for a moment then the computer automatically turns on again. I tried it several times and I still can't shut it down.
I would appreciate it if anyone could help me
PS my macbook is running on os lion

Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to force shutdown.
    Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If this does not help, contact Apple.
    Best.

  • My ical won't stop upgrading, I can't shut down my macbook

when I click ical, it just started to upgrade by itself and it wont stop upgrading, and I cant quit the app neither shut down the macbook.

    Jen,
First of all from the  Menu select "Force Quit..." and choose iCal.
Then try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. To find the Preferences folder, use Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart and check iCal for functionality.

  • Mail won't display the viewer window, and it will not close (force quit does not show in menu bar).  Can't shut down to reboot because the open mail program prevents it.   Any advice?

Mail does not show the viewer window even when new viewer window is cliced.  I tried to close mail and reopen, but it will not close, and force quit option does not appear in window bar.   I tried to shut down the computer and reboot, but it cannot close because of open mail program it says.    Help!

Many thanks.  Once I was able to close mail, it reopened and behaved quite normally.  Thank you.  I'll remember the option quit for force quite!

  • HT201250 Can I shut down my mac in the middle of a time capsule backup?

If I shut down my mac when time capsule is processing a backup, will it cause any problems?

Only a minor problem.  The backup will be cancelled, so after you start your Mac up, the next backup will have to do a "deep scan" to figure out what's changed since the last (completed) backup.   That will take somewhat longer than usual.

  • My iPad isn't working properly. When I try to connect to the internet or follow a link it shuts down and returns to the main screen. Any clue as to what could be causing this? Not my internet connection, I checked that.

My iPad isn't working. I cannot follow a link in an email or connect to a game. It goes to a black screen then back to the main screen. Any idea what could be causing this?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Perform a "hard reset" on the device by pressing down and holding the home button and the sleep/wake button for up to 30secs. until you see a black screen with the Apple logo, then release.
Then test to see if it solved the problem.

  • I can't open or shut down my phone with the touch screen (4s)

    help

Try rebooting by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  If that does not help, take it to an Apple store genius barm for testing by the techs.

  • How  come my iphone5 shuts down my macbook??

How come my iphone5 shuts down my macbook when the iphone is unplugged from the computer?!?! It just happened again and now my macbook won't turn on and the power cord is blinking oddly!

Hold the computer's on/off button for a long time (10 to 15 seconds) to see if that starts your computer.
I suggest from now on when you connect your iPhone, pay attention to the eject button in iTunes.
