Can I shut off the hpsetup network and leave WiFi on?

Hello,
I can't believe I can't find this anywhere... I want to shut down the Ad Hoc network hpsetup in my hp 8600 but the only instructions I can find about tell me to disable wireless.
I want wireless. i am set up in infrastructure mode connecting the printer to my AP. That is all working. but I can see the hpsetup network on the same channel (6).
Is there any way to disable hpsetup without disabling wireless altogether? Can I move what chanel it uses or does it always use whatever the infrastructure chanel is?
Thanks!
Henr

For printer models before 2011, if you still see a "hpsetup" SSID on your network even after configuring youir printer to connect via infrastructure, you may actually be "seeing" another HP device that is not setup wirelessly but its radio is left on and still broadcasting its adhoc SSID. You may ignore it.

I assume that you're asking if you can shut off cellular data (as no individual can shut off the Internet! )? Yes, you can turn off cellular data and use the phone features (except for MMS which requires cellular data) and access the Interenet via WiFi.

I haven't tried it yet, but I believe this would disconnect Bluetooth for both the phone and music. I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata if this will help.

  • Is it possible to turn off the USB hotspot and keep WIFI and BT only on?

I use WiFi or BT tethering almost every day.
When I arrive at home, I plug the phone in the dock to charge/sync but the phone automaticaly turns on the hotspot option.
Turning on/off the hotspot option every day is a pain.
Is there a way to shut down the USB tethering and keep WIFI and BT tethering only ?

  • I can't get rid of a "Not Enough Storage" pop-up on my IPad2.  Can't close it and can't access settings.  Can't shut off the device either.  It's just locked up.  What can I do?

How can I get rid of the "Not Enough Storage" pop-up on my IPad2?  It won't go away, I can't cancel it, I can't access settings, and I can turn off the IPad to reboot.  It is just locked up.

    Reboot the device.
Shut down the device by holding the sleep/wake button  and the home button at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.

  • How can I shut off the iPodService?!?!?

With iTunes 5.x, you could set the iPodService to "Disabled" and keep it from running (useful if you DIDN'T own an iPod!).
But with iTunes 6.0.2, every time you start the app, it reenables the service.
How can I shut this damned service off for good? I *don't* have an iPod!!!

ctl-alt-del > Task Manager > Processes tab, you can end it there.
Maybe you can use these MSCONFIG directions to disable the iPod Service permanently.

  • HT2307 How can you shut off the option command click shortcut that minimizes all windows?

I can't find a place to turn off the option click shortcut that minimizes the last window and option command click that minimizes all of the other windows. Is there a way to do this? They don't show up (or I can't find them) in the Dock Preferences or the Keyboard Shortcuts.

I use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and that's the zoom shortcut keys with space. If I use another program on my second monitor and go back to that and want to zoom in it minimizes everything else.

  • How can I shut off the automatic login when I turn on my MacBook Pro?

Ever since I updated to Yosemite I have been forced to enter my password whenever I turn on my MacBook Pro. I went to System Preferences/Users & Groups and see that the automatic login option is set to off, but it is shaded and I can't use the dropdown menu, even though I've unlocked it.
Is this a common issue? Am I just going to have to get used to signing in every time? I'm the only one who uses it, and it's a little annoying.
I've tried searching for help in the discussions and also on google, but I'm not finding any answers.
    Help, please!

Did you turn on FileVault when you upgraded to Yosemite? If it is on then a login password is required (sort of obviously). You can tell whether it is on by going to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy and click FileVault at the top and see if the words "Turn off FileVault" are in the button. I'm the only one who uses my Mac also, but the remote possibility of it being stolen makes it worth it to me to have FileVault turned on and a password required. • Can't shut off the voice!

OK, my son was playing internet games last night and he somehow created four problems that I can't fix.
    1. He's activated the voiceover option. When I go to the System Prefs>speech it's listed as "speakable items off" But it's still speaking to me. (Thank heaven the mute is still working!)
    2. I have hollow black frames around select back buttons, applications, etc.
    3. In my dropdown Apple menu, I now have two "restart" options, two "shutdown" options, two "Logout" options.
    4. My F Keys (for volume, brightness, etc.) are not working without applying the FN key simultaneously.
    Can anyone help me?

    hi ramones_nyc,
the first three are all definitely related to VoiceOver. perhaps the 4th too, but i don't know - the timing certainly suggests it is too somehow...
if clicking it on/off in system preferences doesn't help, you could try rebuilding the preferences file.
go to [home] > Library > Preferences and drag com.apple.universalaccess.plist to the desktop. log out and then in again.
post back if that didn't help. if it did, go ahead and delete the plist you dragged to your desktop.
    cheers

  • How can I shut off the reminders in iCal?

OK, there is a topic in the preferences and there I set the remindung-options to „off“ (or „without“) – but if I import a .ics I'll find in every date of the imported calender the reminding-option set on „1 day before at 9 a.m.“
When I opened the calender in TextEdit, there is the following:

Do I have to change a word in this text or is there a bug in Calender or what is going on?
I will be happy if anyone could help me!
    Thanx!

  • How can I shut off built in camera and use another one?

I'm trying to use one of Apple's older auxillary cameras to shoot auditions.People will sit on the other side of my computer.
I plug it into my Imac, but the system doesn't recognize it and I continue to see only
myself. How can I turn the other camera on?

How can I turn the other camera on?
With the external (Firewire) iSight connected, (do not chain external iSight with other Firewire devices) if your  > System Profiler > Hardware > Firewire does not recognize the external iSight, use the suggestions here to test whether your old iSight is still functional:
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage4.html
Once your system recognizes both cameras, be sure to rotate the ring at the front lens cover of the external iSight clockwise to turn it on and open the lens shutter.
With more than one working camera recognized by your system, most camera-capable applications have settings that allow you to choose which camera to use. However, they do not all work the same way.  For example:
    • iMovie 9 ('11) uses a choices bar in the "Import from Camera" window:
    More info: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/9.0/en/mov39f84285.html
    • For iChat, you can choose which iSight you use in the "Camera:" choices bar in iChat > Preferences... > Audio/Video that appears when more than one compatible camera is connected. Although your camera choices will be different, the choices bar will look something similar to the Preferences settings shown here:
    • Photo Booth uses the Photo Booth > Camera menu command to select which camera to use.  Remember, camera choice for any app will be available only if more than one working camera is recognized by your system.  With only one camera, the choices will not be visible.
    • For FaceTime,if your Mac recognizes more than one connected compatible camera, a "Camera" section listing the cameras from which you can choose will appear there. Clicking on the desired camera name will let you select the one you want as shown in this image from my Mac Pro and LED Cinema Display:
If your Mac recognizes only one compatible camera, the "Camera" section will not appear in the Video menu, but FaceTime will automatically use the connected camera that is recognized by OS X.
    • QuickTimeX uses Preferences to select between connected cameras.
QTX video Preference settings are visible only when you have a new video recording window open. The image below shows how to access QTX video Preferences from an open video recording window:
Note that only one webcam (iSight) is shown in this image because I had only one camera connected to my Mac at the time. When more than one compatible camera is connected, you will see the additional camera name and can select it in this menu.
    •  For cameras connected via Flash browser plugins, control-click on an open video window and adjust the camera settings to select between a connected USB and Firewire video camera:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help04.html
    • For other apps, check the app's menu items or Help to find out how to select between connected cameras.

  • How can I shut off the back up feature in ITunes. I don't want or need it. Everytime I try to add a single song to my ipod it takes 3 hours to back up. Is there anyway to make Itunes more user friendly I guess is the basic question.

Ok I have to be honest. Apple products and I do not get along. I really don't understand why you get locked out of nearly every feature. Anyway I don't want my Ipod backed up. It eats up memory and I simply do not need it. All I want to do is add a song or two without having to wait 3 hours. I also don't want to waste the space on my computer for the backup files. Lil help? Any answers would be helpful such as why they do this etc...
