Can I somehow open a Logic Express 7 project in Logic Express 8?

Can I somehow open a LE7 project in LE8?

Be careful. Back up your project first because, once opened in LE8 it will not open in 7....

  • Mono Sound after opening an iMovie HD-Project in FC Express HD

I captured HD-Material in iMovie. There it works in stereo. Now i just got mono sound after opening my iMovie HD-Project in FC Express HD. If i play the timeline, the sound of my HD-Clips is mono, all track-settings seamed to be on default mode. If i click one of the clips in the browser-window, i can see and hear the clip in the viewer in stereo. So the clip-material must be okay. Rendering the movie clips and audio clips in the timeline doesn't work. Connecting the clips with the original bin, doesn't work too.
I need help! Could you help me?
    PowerPC G5, Dual 1.8 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

That's not right. Stereo here means the same sound split between two channels. When you open it into the viewer you see two audio waveforms in one display. They can be different, but they don't have to be. Dual mono means you have two separate tracks with different sound coming out of each speaker. In dual mono you have two separate tabs, one for each track, each of which can be controlled separately and have separate audio. That's the default capture condition for FCE. If you have separate tracks of audio in iMovie, two mono tracks attached to the video, they may not be preserved when they come into FCE. Do your clips have two separate, mono tracks of audio in iMovie? What happens to the clip when you open it from the browser into the viewer? Is it two mono tracks, or a stereo pair?

  • Opening logic 8 project in logic 7?

How is it possible to open a logic 8 project in logic 7?
Thanks in advance for any help

Yes, I am in this situation right now....
In Pro Tools, long ago, it was possible to save sessions in a "special" way to make them backward complatible. It looks like this is not possible in Logic 8...
    Some other thoughts?

  • How to open a Logic express project in Logic Pro7

    Hello All,
I am not sure if this is possible or not. I am working in Logic Express 8 and my buddy has Logic Pro 7. We would like to be able to take what I'm recording and bring the project into Logic Pro7 but I can't seem to be able to do so. Any suggestions? I've tried just coping a whole project folder onto a thumb drive and opening it on his system but it doesn't seem to like my project file.
    Thank you

  • Opening a pro tools project in logic

    hello all,
i've got a .ptf file and i would like to keep order (not just import the wave files). is there any way that I could import/open the pro tools file to logic?

This is very easy. In Protools select an area in the arrangement which contains ALL of your regions, and has a definite start and end point (for simplicity). Then hit OptionCommand3 and protools will start duplicating the information, while at the same time making new contiguous files for each track.
You can then just drag and drop into Logic.

  • Can't open or start new projects in Logic after updating to Snow Leopard

I've been having a few problems with Logic 9 since updating to Snow Leopard (10.6.8 )  a couple of days ago.
Every time i click on "new" and try and start a new project - logic freezes and i get the rotating circle sign and Logic stops responding - eventually i need to force quit and start again.
Existing projects seem to be functioning fine, although slightly slower than before.
Does anyone have any fixes for this?! Not being able to start a new project is quite a big problem!
    Thanks

The mistake was trusting only TimeMachine as your backup/restore.
If you had your users files also backed up to a external storage drive, or used a bootable clone (since they can be directly accessed) then you could have recovered just your files.
This is what I suggest you do since TM apprantly botched things.
1: Visit my user tip here and attempt to fix Snow Leopard in place, the purpose here is to get a booing machine so you can use a working Admin account to copy the user folder containing your files to a regular external drive.
I suggest #8 and #6, this will reinstall OS X over itself to fix it, then reset the User Password so you can hopefully log in.
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
2: This method will also work, you install Snow Leopard onto a extenral drive and boot from it. This is probally a more safer choice than above, it's certainly less work, but it needs a blank external powered drive.
.Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
3: Once a copy of your users files is off, then your free to revert your machine back to Snow Leopard.
The ENTIRE drive must be selected and erased, to set the GUID, erase the RecoveryHD and EFI partitions.

  • Is it possible to open a pro tools project in logic?

Or vise versa?, What can or cannot be done to communticate between these two apps? In olden days, Apple bent over backwards to be compatible with windows apps. Have they done this with logic or are we on our own as far as working with the pro tools bunch? Are there third party applications which can at least partially address opening projects from one platform to the other? I am hoping to find out if anyone has found ways to make this work.

Sadly the only way to share project data other than simply importing consolidated audio is to share the project via OMF.
Apple have had serious issues with OMF, and the last word I heard from apple was that Logic's OMF import was 'mostly fixed'.
Unfortunately, in order to -export- OMF in Pro Tools is to purchase a ($1000) software add on.

  • Can I load a logic 9 project into Logic 8.02

Can't find this in search for some reason. I'm mixing a track someone has recorded in logic 9 and he wants to just send me a copy of the logic project rather than running all the audio tracks from bar 1.
I'm just after a quick yes or no answer. I don't need all the fx etc. just the audio files in the right place. Thanks in advance....

Yes, if you have Logic 9 also (or 9.1) it should open at your end with no problem, it will tell you what plug ins are missing but you can ignore that.
However, definitely get your friend to 'save a copy as' of their project, and be sure to click all the boxes for it to copy all external audio files to the project folder, all of the exs samples (if they used any), same thing for ultrabeat and space designer (if they used any of these things with custom sounds or impulse files that they need you to have). This way the resulting project file will be as portable as possible - it should contain everything you need, apart from obviously any 3rd party plug ins or instruments that you don't have. If they used 3rd party synths, then they should definitely bounce these tracks in place before doing the above.
Then, when you receive the project, you have two options for how to work with it. You can either just load it up and work from there. However if you do that, then you'll also be stuck with the environment as it is set up for their system. This may not be a problem if you work in the box. But if you use outboard gear and have set up a complex i/o setup which you use, then it will be a PITA to have to recreate it all from scratch. In that case, (if you have Logic 9.1), you don't need to open their Logic project at all. All you need to do is start a fresh project of your own, using your own preferred template. Then use the selective track import function to choose every single track from their project, and the tempo map as well if there are tempo changes. You can also go through the tracks and choose not to import the plug ins for tracks which use 3rd party plugs you don't have. This way you'll get everything, but it will be inside a Logic project set up in the way you personally are used to.. your screensets will be as you normally have them, your i/o setup will all be preserved exactly as it is in your own template. In most cases, this how I would go about it.

  • Why can't I open a Captivate 8 project in Captivate 7?

I really need to be able to open up a Captivate 8 project back into Captivate 7. I had no idea that once I installed Captivate 8 it would change all of my files. Is there any way i can do this without corrupting my projects?Adobe Captivate

Sorry, apparently you are pretty new to Captivate, because it has never been possible to open a project in a previous version. There was one small exception (7 in 6) but with a lot of issues.
When you open a CP7 file in CP8, it will not be automatically converted to the 8 format, unless you save it. And then you get a warning dialog. For CP7 - files that never were opened in CP8: open first CP7, then open the file. Don't just double-click on a filename, maybe the cptx-extension is now automatically linked with the latest version which is CP8. Good practice is never to open a file by double-clicking it, and this is certainly true for Captivate, where to have all functionality you need to open the application to be run as administrator.

  • Can't not open a previous iDVD project

I have wedding project that I completed in March. I wanted to burn another copy. I double clicked, I tried to open in iDVD. It quickly loads themes and then the window pops "create new project, open existing project, etc. Can anyone help on this matter? It was stored on the Lacie hardrive and then I put it on my desktop. It would not open.

    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Do you have one of the DVDs that you burned in March?
If so, you can use that to burn another by making a Disk Image using Disk Utility:
    Creating a disk image
You can use Disk Utility to create a disk image of a disk, volume, or folder. You can use disk images to move files from one computer to another or to send to other people in email messages.
You can also use a disk image to burn a CD or DVD disc to send to other people or to back up the contents of your disk so that you can restore it if something happens to your information.
When you create a disk image you choose the format of the image:
If you want to continue adding files to the disk image after it's created, choose read/write.
If you don't need to add more files to the disk image, choose read-only.
If you don't need to add more files to the image and you want to conserve space, choose compressed . The disk image takes up only as much space as the data on the image.
If you want to use the disk image with a third-party application, choose CD/DVD master. The disk image contains a copy of all sectors of the disk, whether they're used or not, and copies them to other CDs or DVDs bit for bit.
You can also create a blank disk image so that you can copy files to it later. See "Creating a blank disk image" for more information.
Be sure the files you want to protect are in the same folder in the Finder.
To create a disk image from a disk or volume, select it in the list of disks and volumes.
Choose File > New then the type of image you want to create.
To create a disk image from a folder, choose “Disk Image from Folder.” Select the folder you want, then click Image.
To create a disk image from a disk or volume, choose "Disk Image from disk name."
Type a name for the image and choose where you want to save the image.
Choose one of the disk formats from the Image Format pop-up menu.
To require a password to access the contents of the image, choose "AES-128 (recommended)" from the Encryption pop-up menu.
    Click Save.
If you chose to use a password, enter it in the dialog that appears.
The name of the disk image is followed by the filename extension ".dmg."
Once you have created a disk image from your prior DVD, you can use that disk image to burn more copies of the DVD:

  • Open Final Cut Pro project in Logic Pro for audio editing

I want to open a Final Cut Pro project i'm working on into Logic Pro without having to export my large FCP projects to video all the time. Is there any way of doing this?

Thanks for replying to my question, I did mean Logic Pro but I'm relatively new to these programs. What's the difference with Soundtrack Pro and Logic Pro exactly? If I understood you correctly, Logic Pro would be the program I need since I need to create audio from scratch. Just to be more clear again, I want to see my video while composing audio at the same time but without having to export my video all the time since it takes long, being a big file. Thanks again for the reply.

  • Why can't I open a premier CC project in CS 6?

    Patrice Shannon,
I believe that you have gotten the answer to your question, though probably not the desired answer. However, in your signature, your POP addresses are shown. On an open forum, with spam'bots crawling all over, just harvesting such personal data, it is not a good idea to have POP addresses (or other persnoal data) appearing. As there IS a Reply to your post, you can no longer Edit your post, but a MOD can easily remove that personal data, if you so wish. Just let us know, and the POP addresses will be Removed for you.

  • Importing Logic 6 Projects Into Logic Pro 8

So here's the deal. I have upgraded to Logic Pro 8 (previously using Logic 6) and I'm trying to load my old songs from logic 6 (from my old mac, G5 Power Mac) onto my new mac G5 Macbook in Logic 8 Pro. So I have transfered all the information from my old mac onto and external that I have connected to my new mac.
Now that I want to load my old songs into the new program everything appears to be fine (for the most part) tracks are all there, my effects and automation is all there but it is messing up my midi maps (.exs files). I was hoping that EXS24 would just recognize them and automatically load them in but it isnt. The only way around this that I can think of would be to load all my samples back in the same way as before (same order, same file names, etc.) then save them as the same .exs file in the same location as they previously were. Which I wouldn't mind doing if I had a smaller amount of midi maps but i have a few hundred atleast most with between 15 and 50 individual samples. Not sure whether this has to do with the hardrive change and logic not recognizing the path that the project file is directing it to locate the files or whether its just upgrading the software thats causing the problem but there has got to be an easier way to achieve this. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

I hope I get you right. I had the same situation and the only way was to find all 'sampler instruments' folders on my old machine and put them in exactly the same folders on new machine. Please, note ONLY 'Sampler Instruments' folders, not the samples themselves. Samples can be anywhere on any disk, 'Sampler Instruments' must be in apropriate folders so that old projects can find them. For my future changes I have a backup folder with all sampler instruments folders I found on my old iMac (and previously my G4) - there are 5 in my case... This way I still have 'Logic 6 series' in my applications folder, there is also a folder called something like 'Previous Logic Settings' inside my Library/Application support folder (that's from my Logic 7 I guess).
So, in your case, it's probably only the Logic 6 Series folder and Sampler Instruments folder inside it.
