Can I still download iPod software updates?
Yes, assuming they're compatible with that iPod model. iOS 4 can't be used on the original iPod touch.
iPod is out of warranty.
This only affects how long Apple will freely provide technical support, repairs to, or replacement of the device.

I had to reload windows and I have lost my Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 & Adobe Premiere Elements, I have the original online PO can I still download fthis software from Adobe and how?

Do you have the purchased serial number? What computer operating system?
If you purchased from Adobe direct, you can get download installation files from "My Orders" at the Adobe web site under your Adobe ID and Password (http://www.adobe.com).
Alternatively, you can use the following Adobe document with links to the downloads....
Other downloads
Also, from the following web site as a tryout into which you insert your purchased serial number during installation
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
To avoid Access Denied message, follow carefully the web site's "Note: Very Important Instructions".
Just in case note...make sure installation files are for your computer operating system 32 vs 64 bit. Two files (.exe and .7z)
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
Please let us know the outcome as your schedule permits.
Thank you.

I can't download the Ipod software update
I've been trying all night to download the software update and it keeps giving me error -3259 saying my network wasn't working properly. Well that's not true since I've been browsing the web while downloading and playing xbox live all night. I know that I can connect to the internet just fine but it just keeps saying I can't download the update. I have the newest version of iTunes I just downloaded it tonight so I know that is not the problem. I have no idea what else to do. Anything you guys know that would help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all the help!I did. Itunes isn't blocked by windows firewall. I'm trying to see if I can unblock it under Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 but I haven't been able to find out how yet.

Help downloading ipod Software Update
My sister plugged in my new ipod nano to a PC and reformatted it halfway before she unplugged it. PC's won't recognize it, and my Mac says its windows formatted. I think restoring it is my only option. Unfortunately I live on an island and the internet is really slow (it says 10 hours downloading time for the 58MB of the ipod Software Update even though I pay the equivalent of 75 dollars a month for a cable modem!). I'm patient and wouldn't care so much if it weren't for the fact that the internet gets cut off every half hour or so, and the download starts back up from scratch each time (someone's got to tell itunes to incorporate a download manager!!!). I've been trying to download it for three weeks now and still have 0Mb of the download. Is there any way that I can download whatever software I need to restore the ipod through a download manager--I wrote Apple support about this but got no solution. I really don't know what to do. I will NEVER be able to download 58MB here. Please, please help.
That is what they call broadband in Easter Island, the regular telephone connection is 15 hours (we should all protest but that's another story). Anyway, I have a download manager called iGetter, I just don't know how to get iTunes to do the download from there since there is no web address to copy. Thanks for the free download manager web address though...any idea on how I get it to do download the ipod software update or any other kind of ipod nano restore software. Still, I read elswhere that you can only restore through iTunes, could that be true? I looked at the Apple Support Downloads section and there are updaters you can download but they don't support my 3rd generation iPod nano. I'm an Apple fan, I am!, but really, why does it have to start the download from scratch each time? I think more than just 1% of us would be happy if it the download started from where it left off, especially concerning heavy downloads.

I was downloading the software update for ipod touch 2gen and after it was done downloading it showed that there was an error with my ipod and when i saw it was on the lockscreen loading. its been like this for 4 hours already
What did the error message say?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

When I was updating my child's ipod touch with itunes....it put the ipod in recovery mode and said I would need to restore and then update....which was my only option to choose, so when I chose restore & update....after going thru it seemed the process, then a window came up that stated the ipod couldn't be restored at this time because the ipod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable and to try again. After trying this several times unsuccessfuly and going thru the steps on the help section, the ipod is still not able to restore & update, thus we can't access anything on our very new ipod touch and I am very frustrated, can't afford any Apple support tech time. Problems trying to download iPod Software Update 2.0
Ive been trying to download the software update for about 3 hours now, but about every 5 minutes or less i get a error saying:
'There was a problem with the iPod software for the iPod "MyName iPod". The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.'
But, i'm having no problems whatsoever with my connection, it all seems perfectly fine to me.
If anyone could help me at all with any settings that might be able to be changed or something or anything that could stop this message appearing so that my download will actually be able to get somewhere...
Thanks xI am having this same issue trying to download the 1.1.5 update for my touch, it goes for a while then times out, over and over.
Over the last 18 hours I have tried this update about 30 times and it has failed every time, never at the same point, it downloads a different amount every time but it always stops...
No information from Apple on this issue ? Poor show, I would have expected better from the worlds best computer manufacturer, they give the impression that they think of everything but then it´s little things like this that let them down. -
Can't connect to iPod software update server??
Hi,
With my touch connected to my windows laptop, I click 'Check for Update' and the following error message appears: "The iPod software update server could not be contacted".
Anyone know how to get round this?
ThanksI think it may be an iTunes 7.6 problem...
I've upgraded my mac mini with all the relevant updates (itunes 7.6 included), downloaded the 1.1.3 update and got the same problem as everyone else.
However...my macbook doesn't have the updates and I've just hooked my ipod touch to it and my itunes 7. is downloading the update as I speak.
Will post again once the download completes and let you know if the firmware upgrade installs ok.
Cheers,
Alex. -
ever since I updated my iPod software my iPod will not connect to the app store and won't let me download anything. help
Hook it up to your computer and open itunes. try to download hte apps via your computer. Every time you update hte software you have to reagree to the itunes terms of service. Sometimes it's hard to get it to come up on the device, but is easier on a computer.

'ipod software update server can not be contacted' HELP!!!!
I am trying and trying to get my husbands Christmas gift to work. I did not know much about ipods when I ordered it. I got a refurbished one (first mistake) It is formated for a mac. I can NOT get it to reformat for my PC. A window keeps showing up that says "ipod software update server can not be contacted" and under it "make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active or try again later"
I am about ready to toss this thing out the window. Or send it back and eat the 20% re-stocking fee the company has.
This is our first ipod and I am now really turned off by them
Do you think that if I took it to the apple store that they could reformat it?I have an iPod 30Gb which updated to 1.3 without problem on WinXP, and another which doesn't update on Win2K. Win2K doesn't have a built-in firewall and I don't have any third-party firewall installed on it. So the port issue you just mentioned shouldn't be at stake.
So, to get to the bottom of this, I just wasted a couple hours trying a host of things. I fired up Wireshark (freeware protocol network analyzer), here's the bottom line:
1. While running the built-in iTunes "Network Diagnostics", Wireshark does show that iTunes communicates with the following remote services:
www.apple.com.akadns.net
a227.da1.akamai.com
phobos.apple.com
The result of that test says connection active: no, Connected: no, etc. Red dot on the middle test.
2. When I click on the Update button in iTunes' iPod section, Wireshark doesn't show any HTTP request, or any other type of remote request, for that matter. This means iTunes simply never accesses the update site.
3. I don't think any port is blocked in Win2K (although I read somewhere that disabling some Windows services can close some ports). Another block could be made router-side (either local router or ISP), but as I've already mentioned, iTunes has no trouble accessing the update site on my XP machine, and they're on the same router; the only difference is, the Win2K laptop is plugged into an Ethernet cable, the XP laptop is on wireless.
So, where the explanation given to dealyb is valid because of the company's firewall, it doesn't seem to apply to me.
More investigations needed. If anyone wants to pick up from there and provide additional data... This is exceedingly annoying.

Downloading Ipod software update 3.1.1 but get error 3259
What is wrong? I cannot seem to completely download the software update. After partially downloading the file, an error appears that the connection was timed out. Status: stopped (err = -3259)
I do not have a firewall up nor do I have anti-virus software. I'm running itunes 9.Ok, I'm told that it's a timeout error due to internet connection. For whatever reason, when I tried downloading it again during the day, it worked fine. I don't know what the big difference would be from night to day.
An apple expert emailed me:
I understand that you are receiving a message about connection error 3259 when trying to download your purchases.
I have confirmed that the iTunes Store is functioning and accepting connections. Therefore, the issue is likely related to your Internet connection, local network, or computer. I'm happy to provide some information that should help you connect to the iTunes Store again.
Error 3259 is a network timeout error. Sometimes this error can be caused by software on your computer that slows down the network connection. This error can also appear if you are downloading multiple items. I'd like to provide some steps that should help you successfully download your purchases.
It often helps to pause the download and then download items one at a time. These steps will walk you through doing this:
1) Open iTunes.
2) From the Store menu at the top, choose Check for Available Downloads. If you're unable to upgrade and are using iTunes 7, the option will say Check for Purchases.
3) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. Your purchases should begin downloading.
4) Under the STORE section on the left, click Downloads.
5) Click the Pause All button in the lower-right corner. This will temporarily pause all of your downloads.
6) To resume only one of the downloads, click the refresh button that appears to the right of one of the paused downloads.
Certain types of software can affect the way a computer sends and receives information from the Internet. Here are a few examples of these types of software:
- Firewalls
- Web accelerators
- Ad filters
- Virus protection software
If you have any of this kind of software installed on your computer, you will need to configure each of the applications to allow your internet connection to access iTunes freely. For instructions, please refer to the documentation that came with that software, or contact the software's manufacturer. You'll need to configure the software to allow these domains to send and receive data from the Internet freely:
itunes.apple.com
ax.itunes.apple.com
For assistance in configuring your firewall or accelerator software, you may need to contact the manufacturer or your Internet service provider (ISP). When contacting their support representatives, it may be useful to have the following information:
"Well Known" TCP and UDP Ports Used By Apple Software Products
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
The following article helps Windows users pinpoint software conflicts that could cause the error:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1275
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows Vista
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292
Once you have managed to allow access to iTunes through other software, please follow these instructions:
1) Sign out of the iTunes Store.
2) Quit the iTunes application.
3) Restart your computer.
4) Open iTunes.
5) Select Check for Available Downloads from the Store menu at the top of iTunes, (if you're unable to upgrade and are using iTunes 7, you'll choose Check for Purchases).
If you can't find this option, you can also click this link to do the same thing:
https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/checkForPurchases
6) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. The missing item should begin downloading and appear in your Purchased playlist.
Please note that the iTunes Store cannot investigate every user's connection issue. Apple Discussions are another source of information about iTunes, where everyone from new users to professionals can interact and share their knowledge and experiences. You may find another user with the same operating system or ISP that may be able to help resolve this issue. You can find the iTunes discussions group at:
http://discussions.info.apple.com/itunes
If you are using a dial-up connection, you might consider downloading your purchases over a broadband connection, if you have access to one.
I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for shopping at the iTunes Store. -
