Can I still get Lion Server?

Hey there,
I'm runnig OS X server 10.6.8 on an older xserve model not supported for ML server. Is there still a possibility to get it updated to lion server? If I try to run the installer for OS X Lion it asks me to purchase the server tool but there is only the server tool for ML available in the app store. Any ideas?
regards,
hoffMan

That is not correct. Until a couple of weeks I was an Apple business sales rep. You are no longer able to purchase Lion or Lion Server through any channel. My recommendation: sell your Xserve on eBay and purchase a new or refurbished Mac mini Server. Xserves are reaching the end of their useful lifespan, and the latest Mac mini Servers in most cases can perform on par or better.

  • Can i still purchase Lion Server 10.7?

I have a Mac Pro that i was planning on converting into a server, but i have found that it is not upgradable to 10.8 and the Lion Server app is no longer available on the app store.  Am I out of luck on getting this mac to run the server tools?

Sign up for the Mac Developer Program for $99 (http://developer.apple.com/mac). You'll get a year of access to downloadable images for all released versions of OS X and OS X Server.
Can anyone confirm that this will work? Also if it does, do you then own the image or does it have a time stamped certificate that expires at years end?

  • Can I still get Lion?

Just installed Snow Leopard and trying to get to Lion so my iPhone will sync with new software (arrrgghh!).  Can only find Mountain Lion, which my system can't support.  Possible just to get Lion?

Call 1-800-MY-APPLE and you can purchase a download code.

  • Can i still get Lion without the Mac App Store?

I have Snow Leopard 10.5.8 and want to uprade to Lion, not Mountain Lion.
My MacBook Pro doesn't have the Mac App Store and im wanting to know if there is another way to get it

See Step 1 to make sure your Mac can run Mountain Lion >  Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • Can I still get Lion 10.7.3 instead of 10.7.4?

    Hi,
I have Avid Media Composer v 5.5.3.3 and it will only work on Lion 10.7 and Lion 10.7.3.  It will not work on Lion 10.7.4 which I believe was released just a couple of weeks ago.  Is there any way I can get 10.7.3 instead of 10.7.4?  I currently have Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Thanks.

This is a consequence of the digitial distribution method. Even if you were to reinstall the OS from scratch, Apple will only have the lastest version available to download.
It makes Time Machine backups even more valuable.
You could consider making your own USB backup flash drive - Apple explains how to do that:
How to create your own Lion recovery USB flash drive
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848
However, it's too late to make one that predates OS X 10.7.4.

  • Aug 2012 - Can I still get Lion 10.7?

I am not sure I want to upgrade to Mountain LIon yet, it sounds like it really only works well with the newest hardware, and with the economic recovery dragging I won't be able to upgrade equipment for at least two more years.
Therefore I am now ready to upgrade to LIon 10.7 but no longer see it in the App Store.
    Help.
    Regards, Karen

If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.

  • Can't get Lion Server to work

    Hi
As written above. I can't get Lion server to work.
I have succesfully installed the program, and turn on some of the services. Then I have bought a domain, to connect to my server. But if I try to connect to my IP, from another computer, it doesn't connect. I have tried to "port forwarding" port 80 on my router, and given my Mac a static IP. I have checked with a "Check port opener" if the port 80 was in reach, it was.
So my question is, what is the next I can do to make it work. First with the IP and then with my domain?

Yes, SMTP used to work but stopped after new cert applied. IMAP works fine. Removed SSL and still doesn't work (although should it be restarted or is save for changes okay).

  • Thinking about getting Lion server when it comes out?

I am truly thinking of getting Lion server when it comes out.  After reading the information on the web site, it looks as if I need to have Snow Leopard Server first.  I know it's early but just wanted to know so I know how I wish to do it.  Any feedback would be helpful, thanks.  Also what are your thoughts on Snow Leopard Server?

10.6 server runs great and has many customizable options.
10.7 server will have a more simple layout to make it easier for the small office manger to use.
To get 10.7 server from what i understand is you need to have at least 10.6.6 client. Then you can upgrade to Lion for $30. Once the lion client is installed you can then install the server tools which is $50.

  • Potential macbook pro purchase, can I still get one with just snow leopard?

I've been reading about all the problems with Lion so far and I'd rather just wait for more updates before having it.  Can I still purchase a new macbook pro with just snow leopard?

    Hi M,
You can definitely still get a refurb with SL:

  • Can i still get a replacement for my iphone at a price if it's already been opened by a friend?

Sorry, when you permitted your friend to do that, you forfeited the right to an out of warranty replacement.
Apple makes it quite clear that if you or anyone else attempts to open the phone, not only is all warranty/support voided, but you forfeit the right to an out of warranty replacement.

  • My iPod touch needs to be restored. however, all of my movies/apps/songs/photos are not backed up on my computer because the shop on my computer does not work. can i still get the memory on my iPod touch 32gb back?

If you weren't able to sync the purchases to a computer previously and now your iPod needs to be restored so you can't sync it now, then you may be out of luck and will need to purchase your content again. Officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications and iBooks. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
    Good luck.

  • My iPod just randomly deleted all my music, but I no longer have the computer where I synced it to. Can I still get my purchased tracks if I download iTunes on another computer?

If for some reason you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you can redownlaod some itunes content in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Sorry, no. Apple-care must be purchased within the first year of ownership.
