Can I still get the support of the first gen iPhone if I buy Applecare?

Can I still get the support of the first generation iPhone if I buy Applecare? If I can't then can it be replaced by Apple?

Sorry, but you cannot buy AppleCare after the original one year warranty on your iPhone expired. If your  phone is damaged you can purchase an exchange for a refurbished one.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5s. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

  • Can you still get internal HDs for the G4 PB 12"?

I still use my trusty 12" Powerbook G4 for my hobby of freelance writing and photography. Indeed, the ONLY thing currently 'wrong' wih it - for what I need from it these days - is that the internal 40Gb hard drive is now way to small for all the stuff I want to keep on it.
Is it still possible to get compatible internal hard drives for it? If I can get a 500Gb internal hard drive, it'll save me the expense of having to buy a whole new laptop. Which seems a bit silly as the Powerbook G4 is still more than adequate in every other way!
(I know I could get an external drive, but an internal one woould be a whole lot better!)
    Can anybody help, please?

    Robin:
As noted, yes, PATA drives are still available for your computer. Here is a list of available drives for your computer at OWC. You do have a lot of tiny screws to deal with, but it can be managed. The most troublesome are two tiny screws on each side of the case. Be very careful not to damage the heads of the screws. You will also discover that the 1.5 GHz version does not have an EMI finger to be removed, as noted in the step by step directions. In addition to the step by step directions from iFixit here are few tips you may find helpful:
    • Print out the ifixit directions as well as the screw guide ahead of time.
    • Be sure you have the right tools. You don't want to damage the screw heads or you may never get them out. And the Torx screw driver is critical. For a spudge I use the handle of an old toothbrush (choose one made of hard plastic), cut off the brush and bevelled the handle end like a flat blade screw driver). For some spudge jobs a credit card will do the trick.
    • Picking up on one user’s suggestion, I clicked on the pages of each step which involved removing screws to enlarge, then printed out the pages. I poked holes in the paper where the screws were removed, poked the screws in the holes and stacked the pages in order in which the screws were removed. Reassembling was a lot easier. No cups to tip over and spill. No guessing. Each screw was exactly in the right place. You can use an ice cube tray, egg carton, dixie cups etc. I previously used small medicine cups one for the screws in each step. I nested them so that the last ones out and the first to go back in are on top. (Some users report cutting up the screw guide and placing the applicable section in each container.)
    • Be very careful pulling out leads. Hold the lead as close to the plug as possible and wiggle (the plug ) to loosen its grip. Don’t hold the wires and pull as that can damage the cable, or worse, in some instances pull the wires out of the plug. Indeed, some users have pulled the socket off the logic board! Use needle nose pliers or tweezers if you can access the plug, or nudge the plug with a small instrument to help loosen its grip.
    • Use force gently in removing parts. Separating upper and lower case takes some doing. Use a plastic tool (spudge) so as not to mar the case.
    • Refer to the screw guide when reassembling computer. Putting longer screws in the wrong place can perforate the circuit board.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.

  • I'm a very small user - can I still get Dreamweaver without using the cloud?

I have an existing site to show my daylily seedlings and introductions.  This is a small family part-time project, not a professional firm.  Our former web designer stopped doing her moonlight web-work this year as her college course load has increased.  Her work is still up.  I can probably find out the server information to modify the existing setup - I think I have it already, but haven't tried the access yet.
My problem is that, although I have adequate computer space to store almost any project, I can't justify paying infinite monthly Cloud fees.  Is there still a version of Dreamweaver I can get without having to pay forever for cloud storage?  If not, I'll just keep looking for a brand that will support my needs.

Dreamweaver CS 6 is available as mentioned. Adobe Muse can create neat websites and is available for $15 month. If the website is simple enough it may be able to be maintained with a Text Editor and an ftp program. I keep certain sites up and running with BBEdit. The rest I use Dreaweaver. Dreamweaver CS 6 will be a good short term solution. I say short term, since Adobe doesn't guarentee that it will keep CS 6 apps running forever. Eventually, after some system upgrade (Windows 9, OS XI) CS 6 apps will be a thing of the past.
There are many free or inexpensive programs that can be used to maintain a website. Recommendations depend upon your skill level and the platform you use and the server you plan to keep your website are running on.  Personally, I'd stay away from anything like WordPress unless you are ready to stay on top of what is going on with it. WordPress is VERY VERY popular and is a frequent target of attacks because is it so popular. WordPress security issues are fixed quickly. The issue is that many people do not keep the sofware up to date.

  • Can I sell my first-gen iPhone when I buy a 3GS?

I plan on buying an iPhone 3GS. I understand that I can use my old phone as an iPod touch, but I don't need it. I'd rather try to sell it and recoup some of the cost.
    Some questions:
-- Does anyone know how do go about doing this? Is it possible?
-- What steps do I need to take before selling a used cellphone?
-- Will the buyer be able to access my old account information, or bill calls to me?
-- If I decide to sell my old iPhone through an online auction site, how should I write the listing in order to get the most value for my old phone? (I imagine a lot of people might be trying to do the same thing!)
    Thank you for your help.
    Dave

Yes. You can sell it on ebay or whatever else. Take out the Sim card, reset all settings, clear all private data, etc. Include all the original accessories, plus any extras that you won't or can't use with the new iPhone. write about how the data plan is cheaper and they don't need to sign a new contract

  • Can I still get the free upgrade to WIndows 7 that Lenovo offered when I purchased?

I purchased in July 2010 (so my warranty ran out in July 2011) and had to get Windows XP Pro because we were running an application that would not yet run Windows 7.  They have finally worked it out, and I'm ready to move to 7 - can I still get this from Lenovo?  Was it by any chance loaded on this machine (SL410 - 2842-GCU) for me to upgrade?  Thanks for any advice.
    Matt

I tried to find the system specs from the model number you gave, there seems to be a typo error. You can check here if yours came with Win7 and order it from lenovo for a nominal fee

my iPod touch needs to be restored. however, all of my movies/apps/songs/photos are not backed up on my computer because the shop on my computer does not work. can i still get the memory on my iPod touch 32gb back?

If you weren't able to sync the purchases to a computer previously and now your iPod needs to be restored so you can't sync it now, then you may be out of luck and will need to purchase your content again. Officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications and iBooks. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
    Good luck.

If for some reason you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you can redownlaod some itunes content in some countries:

Each version of Adobe products builds upon the previous ones.  Some things like filters and advanced features may evolve or become deprecated over time, but the basic tools have remained pretty much the same for decades.  As long as you know there are subtle differences between versions, I think you will still get a great deal of value from C in a B for CS6.

    Hi Thomasjewell,
Yes you can avail the discounted prices even you are upgrading the product just for two users. You can use the serial number for your Creative Suite 5 product.
You can follow the link: https://creative.adobe.com/plans in order to purchase Creative Cloud for Teams product.
Let me know if it works or not.

You can have Apple replace the logic board, but it will be at your expense.  The free replacement program has ended.

  • Can i still get the 10.5.8 upgrade from 10.3.9

Can i still get the 10.5.8 upgrade from 10.3.9 and will this help preformance

Ok, PowerBook G4's came with 10.3, and the maximum OS it can handle is 10.5.8
There is no security updates for PowerPC on 10.5 since July 2011, (but there was for 10.5.8 on Intel processors just a few days ago.)
So your course of action is to buy a 10.5 Leopard retail disk at Amazon or elsewhere.
Backup data off the machine, hold the c key down and boot, erase and install should do the best for performance, also your skipping 10.4, then Software Update fully.
Won't be secure for anything online, so don't use it for that. You should still be able to find some PowerPC based software if you look hard enough as there is still 16.5% of users on 10.5 and 40% on 10.6 (Intel processors only) which can run PowerPC based software via emulation.
I can't tell you what the performance would be on your machine, but if you don't like it I guess your could reinstall 10.3 again, don't know if you will get any security updates or not.
They don't make laptops like yours anymore, the new Mac laptops last about 4-5 years and they crap out. Got the weakest keyboards too.
