    Syncing won't transfer the photos.  If you want to transfer you camera roll photos, as well as your other data and settings, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.  If you only are concerned with photos, import them from your old phone to your computer as shown here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then put them in a folder and select to sync this folder to your new phone on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sycing your new phone.

    Just back the phone up to icloud and restore iPhone from backup on the new phone. When you are going through the set up process it ask you if you want to set the phone up as new or restore from a backup. You do not nee itunes at all or anything hooked up.

    Sorry, when you permitted your friend to do that, you forfeited the right to an out of warranty replacement.
    Apple makes it quite clear that if you or anyone else attempts to open the phone, not only is all warranty/support voided, but you forfeit the right to an out of warranty replacement.

    I have many years soldering experience and with small electronics. Is there any way to remove the solid state in the EP of an iPhone 2G and read the data off of it.     The flash memory in the iPhone is a chip soldered onto the logic board; it's not a separate module. So barring a lot of work to get the chip unsoldered and then the building of your own circuitry, the storage cannot be removed and accessed separately. You can try one of the recovery services such as DriveSavers and see if they would have any way to get data from your iPhone.

    So basically you are saying you have a New Computer and you do not have access to your Old Computer and you did not Create and Maintain a Backup of iTunes... Correct.?
    And you want to Sync your iPhone to the New Computer... and your New Computer is Authorised...?

    After you get this issue resolved... suggest you Create and Maintain a Backup of iTunes and any other Precious / Important Content you cannot afford to lose.

    I have done a photobook in iphoto and have had them produced and sent out to me.
    I have accidentally lost the "book" in iPhoto so can't reorder more via the usual way.
    Does anyone know if the Photo company producing the books keep them on file, that way allowing you to buy more copies without actually resending
    in the book and photos.
    I usually use MyPublisher and they actually have your book on file and then you can just print them as you wish.
