Can I still upgrade from CS4 to CS5?

I remember before that when Adobe released a new version of their software, that you were able to download the older versions for free (for a short period of time, I think). Now that Adobe is releasing CS6, is CS5 still available? I looked on the site and can only find CS6, but a chat revealed that a CS5.5 Design Standard upgrade is still available for $499. Upgrading to 5 would solve a lot of my problems in dealing with current clients who have that. Going up to 5.5 or 6.0 would simply create new problems. One of my biggest clients is still running CS3!

Yes, you can upgrade to CS5.5 (sorry, but CS5 is a year out of date) now and you'll get CS6 for free. You'll save a lot of money in doing so.

    Yes.  While it might depend on where you are located, go to the following page to purchase and be sure to select Upgrade.

  • How can I upgrade from CS4 to CS5/CS6?

    Hi, I really need to upgrade my Adobe suite from CS4 to CS5 or higher. From reading in this forum you are unable to do it, but those posts were from 2012. Wondering if this is still current and if anyone can help me? Do I need to buy the entire suite again from scratch? Surely not?
    I have a student version by the way.
    Thanks!

    You cannot upgrade from Photoshop CS4.  Those days are long past.
    While you can buy a full license for (the now outdated) Photoshop CS6, your most cost effective alternative may be to consider the Creative Cloud "Photographer's Bundle" subscription...

  • Am I still eligible for an upgrade from CS4 to CS5 from a PC to a Mac?

  • Upgrade from CS4 to CS5.5. did not go smoothly, now stuck at CS5 - how do I fix the installation?

    Hi There,
    I had a lot of issues upgrading from CS4 (Adobe Application Manager crashing, installer not opnening etc) but managed to get the installer to run by using the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to remove all traces of CS4.
    However, when the installer finished, it stated there were errors and now the installers won't run - nor can I run updates from the CS apps that did install.
    I've normally never had any issues upgrading, so am not sure why I had so many issues and the best way forward from here - Hoping I don't have to remove all the CS5 apps, use the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool again and start from the begining.
    I'm trying to install Master Collection CS5.5 on Mac OS 10.7.2
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

    Have had to hang up as I was calling the US using a New Zealand Mobile while in Portugal (long story) - and the 11 minute wait time would've cost the same amount as the CS5.5 upgrade!
    I had to call the US because:
    The New Zealand support number listed on the Adobe site doesn't work
    New Zealand is not listed as a country Adobe suppoprt will call back from the "Schedule a callback" page
    What a joke.
    I used the Adobe Support Adviser app to analyze the install error log and it provided me with a very helpful link to a support page that states "You can ignore this error and launch the products you were installing."
    Unfortunately, nothing was installed.
    I need to do work while a long way from home and can't use/install any CS5 apps - does anyone know how to install CS5 in Lion?
    Cheers

  • Upgrading from CS4 to CS5

    Hi, I currently have Design Standard Suite CS4, which includes Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Bridge. I want to upgrade to CS5, but there is only Design Premium available (no 'standard') which includes everything and Flash and Dreamweaver....
    Can I still upgrade to Design Premium and get Flash and Dreamweaver included in the grade price??
    Thanks for your help

    I think the problem is the website only displays the premium versions on most of the pages – you have to do a bit of searching around to find the standard versions.
    E.g. http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/creativesuite/ doesn’t mention the standard versions.

  • Upgrade from CS4 to CS5--what functions in CS4 do I lose?

    By grading from CS5 to CS4, what functions will I lose in CS4? I see that the "upgrade" button is greyed out in CS4. Anything else?

    Just to be clear (and I don't think I was originally)...the upgrade is from CS4 to CS5. I see that CS4 is still available and operating. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't become "dead" after upgrading to CS5.
    Thanks for all the information and responses.

  • Upgrading from CS4 to CS5.5 as student?

    Hi
    I have Creative Suite design premium for PC (CS4) and I want to upgrade it to CS5.5. I am a student as a graphic designer, but I can't find anything about buying upgrades as a student, only full products?
    How do I do this?

    That may depend on how long you plan remaining a student and whether you are ever going to upgrade again, I guess.... Yes, of course, in your situation the price difference wouldn't be that big, but otherwise there is no problem anywhere here - CS5.5 installs independently from CS4 and even student licenses may be used for the occasional commercial work...

  • Third Party Plug-Ins have disappeared on upgrade from CS4 to CS5

    Hello Folks,
    I have recently upgraded from PS CS4 to CS5 and now, on looking through the Plug-Ins available fromthe Menu - Help - About Plug-In --, I see that my 3rd Party Plug-Ins (NOT the Plug-Ins which had previously been installed automatically by CS4 and are now no longer installed by CS5 as a matter of course), such as Akvis / Bokeh / Imagenomic and many others, are no longer shown.
    Has anyone else out there experienced the same problem due to this upgrade? If so, I would be grateful if someone could advise as to whether there is some solution readily available OR, is it a case of having to re-install the 3rd Party Plug-Ins one by one??
    This did not happen when I upgraded from CS3 to CS4 - all my 3rd Party Plug-Ins made that transition quite successfully.
    For information purposes, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a 32 bit system mode.
    Thank You,
    Geeborg.

    Yes it did.  You just don't remember having to deal with it.
    Photoshop does not ever install in the same folder as a prior version.  Thus CS5 will not see the plug-ins that have been installed in or under the Adobe Photoshop CS4\plug-ins folder.
    Thus you will need to install your plug-ins again, pointing them at the CS5 area.  Some (as mentioned above) may need to be upgraded.

  • Upgrading from CS4 to CS5.5

    I just upgraded to CS5.5 Design Premium. I thought this was an actual upgrade but I now have both CS4 and CS5.5 installed on my computer! Do I uninstall CS4?

    Cool,, when you install the upgrade then one of teh process is to check for teh earlier version , if incase it doesnt find it installed on teh computer then it ask for the previous serial number , when entered the installation goes thorugh fine.
    That the upgarde procedure ....hence I said you can keep it or remove it, all you need the CS4 serail numebr to install the software.

  • Upgrading from CS4 to CS5 Prod Premium

    Please excuse me if this has been discussed (although I only found one short thread relating to my question).
    I have received my upgrade version of CS5.5 (DVD version).
    I am currently running CS4.2.1 Do I have to deactivate my current version before I attempt the upgrade?
    My installation history started with Prem Pro CS4 then I upgraded to CS4 Prod Premium for the whole suite. My experience of upgrading at that time was stressed!!
    I had to go to online support and enter my Prem Pro serial number in with my Prod Premium serial number which produced a THIRD number - oh, the long winded nature of it all.... Meanwhile 24 hours later!
    So, is it now quite simple? But do I have to deactivate my current and operational version first?

    Absolutely amazing!
    Wow!! I must say my installation experience of CS5.5 was nothing like CS4. It took just 45 minutes - no hassle and once I entered my Adobe ID it didn't even ask for the old serial numbers.
    And now the best part. No more red line renders on my HDV timeline which was a real pain as I couldn't even play the timeline after I made adjustments. Now I get a playable yellow bar. This is going to save me hours of edit/render time.
    What a difference...
    And to Harm - yes, I don't regret.
    Happy Happy Happy

  • Can I still upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, with Yosemite out?

    Hi there,
    my girlfriend is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8 I believe) on a MacBook 2009. Now she finally wanted an upgrade to a newer OS. However, I've read in several reviews that Yosemite is not running very smoothly on some older Macs. So I thought upgrading to Mavericks might be a better deal.
    So my question is:
    How can I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks? Apparently you can't do it over the AppStore, since you can now only download Yosemite. Is there another way?
    Thanks!

    Nope. Mavericks is no longer available for download unless you had downloaded it in the past. If Yosemite doesn't do well on an older Mac, then neither will Mavericks. Consider rolling back to Snow Leopard.
    You may try calling Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. They may be able to help you with getting Mavericks for now.

  • Upgrade from CS4 to CS5: Dynamically created text isn´t shown anymore.

    Hello,
    since I have updated my Flash CS4 to CS5, textfields that have been dynamically created inside external classes aren´t filled with text anymore. At least they exist; the cursor appears, when I roll over the place, where it has been placed.
    This is how I place it:
    1. The font is embeded as Font-Symbol inside the library. Name: "BertholdWalbaumBook", Linkage: "BertholdWalbaumBook";
    2. Code:
              moreInfoButtonText = new TextField();
              moreInfoButtonText.text = "More Info";
                   //TEXTFORMAT
                var pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
                pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat.align = TextFormatAlign.LEFT;
                pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat.color = "FFFFFF";
                pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat.font = "BertholdWalbaumBook";
                pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat.leading = 3;
                pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat.size = 14.62;
                pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat.letterSpacing = 0;
                //COORDINATES
                moreInfoButtonText.x = moreInfoButtonBG.x+5;
                moreInfoButtonText.y = moreInfoButtonBG.y-30;
              //TEXTFIELD
                moreInfoButtonText.embedFonts = true;
                moreInfoButtonText.setTextFormat(pre_Disco_RecordStandard_TextFormat);
                moreInfoButtonText.antiAliasType = AntiAliasType.ADVANCED;
                moreInfoButtonText.sharpness = -400;
                moreInfoButtonText.thickness = -200;
                moreInfoButtonText.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.RIGHT;
                moreInfoButtonText.wordWrap = true;
                moreInfoButtonText.multiline = false;
              //ADD CHILD
                addChild(moreInfoButtonText);
    When I set       moreInfoButtonText.embedFonts = false;    the text is shown with system font, so the problem must cohere with embedding.

  • ACR extremely slow after upgrade from CS4 to CS5

    After upgrading Photoshop and Bridge from 4.0 to 5.0 I can no longer edit photos in ACR (plugin v 6.3) because it now takes impractically long to refresh the image after most changes. For example, on the Basic pane if I change a setting such as Exposure, Brightness, etc. with a slider it takes about 5 seconds before I see the change to the image. Since CS4 is still on my computer if I load CS4 Bridge, open the same image in Camera Raw (plugin v 5.5) the same operation refreshes the image in about a half second. If I can't solve this problem I'll have to abandon CS5 and go back to CS4, which would be a shame. Any ideas?  Thank you!

    You shouldn't be running version 5.5  of the Camera Raw plug-in in CS4 either.  Update to ACR 5.7 ASAP.
    One should ALWAYS run the LATEST release of ACR for your version of Photoshop, no exceptions.  Each new release brings unheralded, unannounced and sometimes even unacknowledged bug fixes and improvements, beyond support for newer cameras.
    Staying with an older version just because your camera is already supported by it is a very<euphemism>unwise</euphemism> decision.
