Is it possible to purchase an upgrade to Creative Suite 5.5 from CS 4 instead of having to buy the upgrade to CS 6 before 12/31/12 to stay qualified for upgrade pricing after 1/1/13?

Hi, I bought Photoshop CS5 standalone a while ago but have now bought creative suite CS5 production which comes with photoshop extended version. During the install it said it wouldn't reinstall photoshop, but is there much of a difference between standard and extended versions? Will it just install the extra bits which as far as I know have something to do with video work?
Basically should I have reinstalled photoshop to get the extended version?

If you are using the correct serial number then it is likely the installer will not recognize your volume license CS4 serial number as being valid for an upgrade. Yes. Go here, Creative Suite 6, and select the Buy option next to Photoshop CS6 then change the option for "I want to buy" from Full to Upgrade. It's $199 for the non-Extended version and $399 for Extended upgrades from CS5.

In 2006 I bought the Adobe Creative Suite Production Studio Premium. The procedure when activating the installation I don't remember exactly. The computer on which the Suite was installed doesn't have an internet connection (I thought that was the simplest and safest thing to do; I have another computer for that purpose).
Now, if I want to upgrade to Creative Suite 5 on a newly bought i7 computer, what is the procedure? What do I need to prove to Adobe that I'm eligible for the upgrade? Please tell me the serial number on the box is enough... my old editing computer doesn't start at all so any info contained there is unobtainable at the moment.

The serial number of the old version - is that, by any chance, something you get from Adobe via internet or is it stuck on the box with the manuals and DVDs?I can't remember myself.

Do you have $50? You could become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud for that and get the very latest version of AE (which is version 12.2 right now, whereas CS5.5 is version 10.5). Adobe is only selling CS6 (version 11) these days and renting both CS6 (version 11) and CC (version 12).

Hello royalaqua,
I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year. Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases. Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.
