Can I still upgrade to Mavericks

Hello. I have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I use hardware that has only recently become compatible with Mavericks, and is unlikely to ever be compatible with Yosemite.
It would seem that Apple will not permit anyone to upgrade to Mavericks any longer, as their App Store only has Yosemite available. Is that the case?
Frankly I'd have been happy stopping at Mountain Lion but I can't even get that far as far as I can see!

Well. That was, er,  interesting......I asked the apple store support first and a week later they sent me a lot of irrelevant information about Yosemite, twice.  I then tried Apple Care but that would have cost me £25. So I was in the position of asking if I could buy one of Apples products, and finding that they wouldn't tell me whether I could or not unless I gave them some money first. All a bit Kafkaesque.
I had the chance to go into an Apple Store since, where a member of staff told me he didn't know the answer either, and only Apple Care could tell me what it was, but he wouldn't recommend Yosemite  right now in any case.

  • HT201364 I have most of the requirements for mavericks, however, can I still upgrade to mavericks with 1GB of ram??

I was wondering If I can upgrade to Mavericks if I have MOST of the requirements available..... The only thing I need to do is upgrade the ram. I currently have 1GB of Ram
Or MUST I upgrade the ram???????

And check the Mavericks requirements again. A MacBook that shipped with only 1 Gig of RAM is probably too old for use with Mavericks. As I believe that all of the qualifying MacBooks shipped with a minimum of 2 Gigs RAM.
The minimum requirement for the MocBook is:
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
Note: It always helps to mention your exact Mac model when posting a question in the forums.

    Hello royalaqua,
I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year.   Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases.   Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.

Do you have $50? You could become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud for that and get the very latest version of AE (which is version 12.2 right now, whereas CS5.5 is version 10.5). You would get access to the Roto Brush, the 3d camera tracker, and a Lite version of Cinema 4D along with a ton of other enhancements and new features!
Adobe is only selling CS6 (version 11) these days and renting both CS6 (version 11) and CC (version 12).
For free you could download CS6 or CC and use the trial for 30 days.
Alternatively, you could download a trial of CS5.5 (down this page somewhere: http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl) and use it for the next 30 days.
Another option: you can look for third-parties selling their copies of CS5.5, but beware of shady people selling pirated software.

Even through iTunes.  You can upgrade, but only to iOS 8.0.2.  Apple is no longer signing to anything lower on 4S and higher.

CS5.5 is no longer available. You may have some luck in finding leftover

Yes.  While it might depend on where you are located, go to the following page to purchase and be sure to select Upgrade.

Yes. Go here, Creative Suite 6, and select the Buy option next to Photoshop CS6 then change the option for "I want to buy" from Full to Upgrade. It's $199 for the non-Extended version and $399 for Extended upgrades from CS5.

  • Can I still upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, with Yosemite out?

    Hi there,
my girlfriend is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8 I believe) on a MacBook 2009. Now she finally wanted an upgrade to a newer OS. However, I've read in several reviews that Yosemite is not running very smoothly on some older Macs. So I thought upgrading to Mavericks might be a better deal.
    So my question is:
How can I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks? Apparently you can't do it over the AppStore, since you can now only download Yosemite. Is there another way?
    Thanks!

Nope. Mavericks is no longer available for download unless you had downloaded it in the past. If Yosemite doesn't do well on an older Mac, then neither will Mavericks. Consider rolling back to Snow Leopard.
You may try calling Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. They may be able to help you with getting Mavericks for now.

  • Can I still upgrade?

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium comes with Adobe
    Dreamweaver® CS3, Flash® CS3 Professional,
    Photoshop® CS3 Extended, Illustrator® CS3,
    Fireworks® CS3, Acrobat® 8 Professional, Contribute®
    CS3, Bridge CS3, Version Cue® CS3, and Device Central CS3.
I own version 8 of all of these, and PS cs2.... but I don't
own Illustrator. Can I still buy the upgrade software? For the
extra $100 to upgrade with Premium vs. Standard, it seems worth it,
but what will happen with Illustrator?

That's a good question, but my guess is, you would get it,
    and it would
install - each of these apps installs as a new, standalone
    app, I believe.
