Can I still use old versions of itunes producer

Hi.
I recently purchased a mac mini (circa 2007) for the sole purpose of uploading epub files I already have to the iBook store.  I'm using os 10.6.8 with an intel processor and ram and processor speed in excess of what Apple lists as minimum requirements.  However when I download itunes producer 2.9 I get an error message that my machine won't support the program.
I've found a website where I can download older versions of itunes producer --  can I use, for example, vers. 2.2 of producer to still upload content?
I'm a long-time windows guy and brand new to the world of mac.
Thanks

Like Windoze,  older  equipment is not able to deal with  updates intended  for "newer" equipment.
The answer is, if  you can find older software it may be OK.
I suggest you look at the  top of this page > Apple Support Compunities, and  scroll down to find the Mac Mini discussion group.

how can i get the old version of iTunes back

You cannot unless you have a full TM or clone backup which you could use to erase your drive and reinstall the earlier version (that would be for your computer, not an iDevice).

  • Changes made using "old" version of iTunes not showing up

A colleague uploaded new thumbnails and created new courses in an old version of iTunes. When I go on our page – using the current version of iTunes - none of the changes are reflected. When I log in as the administrator, I now see it in the “old” version (I used to see the current version/configuration) and all the changes are there. We made these edits a few weeks ago. Any ideas how to fix this?

    Not on the computer.
If you are logged in to the same account on the phone, you can go through the music and app store to download purchased content directly.

  • Can I restore an old version of iTunes?

I'm having trouble getting my MacBook Pro to recognise my iPod Classic - it connects via usb then says 'Ejecting - you may now disconnect'. I've tried the reset/restore approach and connecting in disk mode but the best I get is my iPod appearing as a device on my desktop but not in iTunes.
There are many similar problems that feature in the Support Communities but so far no answers. I wondered if it was a glitch in iTunes (12.1.2.27) and tried to restore an older version of the app, but Time Machine tells me that iTunes cannot be removed or modified as it is needed by the OSX. Is this the case? Can't I restore an old version?
Failing that, does anyone have any ideas how to overcome the problem? Most annoyingly, my wife's iPod Classic functions perfectly well on the same MacBook, even using the same usb lead!

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account and see what happens there.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Can i get the old version of iTunes back without deleting everytying?

This new iTunes is the pits.  I want the old version back.  I deleted iTunes 11 and tried to reinstall an earlier version.  It gives me an error that my library cannot be recognized by an older version.  So...will i have to delete everything, libraries, etc. in order to get rid of this frankenstein monster and go back to a good version?  And if I do, I'd like to thank you in advance for the hours of work you will be creating for me.

Who ever said dont be rude I guess must be an apple fanboy.  Tell me why I have to buy iphone 5 to finally get 4g a technology that has been out for 2 to 3 years.  I am sick of apple and their overpriced items I dont know if you dont see all it is is software.  I really like the apps for games but my Galaxy 2 screen is almost bigger than my wifes iphone.  I am sorry they need to catch up with the times and leave itunes alone.  The new version is harder to use and harder to figure out what they did.  He has the right to be rude to apple, they are a company that doesnt care about their buyers because they know that people will line up to buy their ipad mini when you can buy a full size Ipad for 70 dollars more.  My wife just bought the ipad 4 and they didnt make that many changes to justify it just like they did with the 4s yet fanboys went beserk.  I think we ought to show them that unless they make the next iphone with a larger screen and the next ipad a little cheaper then we wont buy it.
I have all the components in my computer to match an IMAC yet need to buy their 2200$ computer to have their software legally.  Its all about money of course I get that but make something for a better price considering it is software leading not the components.  An alienware laptop runs less money than a stupid macbook that is wrong.  I hope apple reads this but they will have their fans that will line the streets for bad products.  They are behind in technology compared to android and pc.  The ipad mini should have been priced like everyone else at 199 not 329 but again fanboys lined the streets for it.

  • Can I download an old version of iTunes?

I have an old iPod Touch, 2nd generation.  I have a new computer that does not have iTunes loaded yet.  Will the latest and greatest version of iTunes work with my old Touch or can I download a more compatible version?

    Yes, it will.

  • If I buy upgrade, can I still use previous version?

I am sure this question is answered on the Adobe site or in the forums somewhere, but I can't find the answer.  I'm hoping that someone can point me to the official Adobe policy.
I am thinking of upgrading from CS4 to CS5, and one of the considerations which would affect my decision would be the ability to keep and use the older version on my 2nd computer (a laptop).  Is this allowed?   Currently I have to de-activate Photoshop on my desktop PC and activate it on my laptop in order to use it while travelling, and I always forget to do that, so I end up not using Photoshop on my laptop at all.

This question is only partly answered. His subject line question is not fully answered. His specific variation of the question is answered though. I am still trying to find the answer to his Subject line question. If an owner of an eligible older version of an adobe product buys the upgrade version. Can you keep using the previous version and then install and use the new upgrade copy on a different computer?
The way this was answered so far, sounds like regardless of the upgrade, that a single version copy is allowed to be installed on a desktop and laptop for mobility reasons.

  • Where can I get an old version of iTunes

I have a problem with iTunes 6 preventing me from connecting to the internet through a router.
To overcome this problem I have tried uninstalling iTunes 6 and re-installing the version (3.x) which came with my iPod. However, this version does not allow me to play downloaded music without verification through the music store, but the for some reason I can't access the music store with this version of iTunes.
The iTunes version prior to the current version 6 - I believe this was iTunes 4.7 - worked fine with both router and music store, so I am desperately trying to get hold of this version until Apple pull their fingers out and resolve this bug in version 6.
I have tried the Apple store in Regent Street, London but they were not able to help me ... does anyone have any ideas or suggestions how I get sort this problem out?

  • Why can i not unistall old version of itunes

I try to download new version of itunes but it says cannot uninstald version what should i do?

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Why still use old versions of Oracle??

    Hi All,
I was just wondering what are some reasons why organizations continue to use older versions of Oracle like 7 and 8i when we are now at version 11g?
I would love to hear what everyone has to say.
    Thanks,

Mogens Norgaard (Oracle Insights) says that most users only need version
7.3 and that advances since then are for the UPS's and eBays of this world.
    Disagree. Totally.
Oracle OPS cannot be compared to Oracle RAC. 7.3's partition views cannot be compared to
proper partitioning. And then what about features such as FGAC, rman, ASM, Apex, materialised
views - just to mention a few?I readily accept that Oracle is a good deal more sophisticated now than it was in
version 7. I think that Norgaard - a man with no axe to grind with Oracle and who
is a highly respected Oracle database practitioner - is talking about an "average Joe Sixpack
    run-of-the-mill OLTP system".
Why do you think he made this point -
"Most customers really only need Oracle version 7.3 with respect to features"? (p 92 of the book).
All of these we use. In production. For 24x7 corporate mission critical systems. It would be
laughable to suggest that these could run on Oracle 7 and provide as a robust, flexible,
performant and scalable solution as using 10g or 11g.I accept this also - it's just that Norgaard is saying that "most" customers don't need
    Oracle after 7.3.
I would tend to agree - in particular, the (totally free) functionality available
from, say, PostgreSQL and/or Firebird gives you more than this.
Open Source databases? Even more laughable. There is no way that these can compare
to Oracle. Not when doing intensive processing. Not when needing scalability, availability
and redundancy.Look [url http://kevinclosson.wordpress.com/2007/07/18/application-server-benchmark-proves-postgresql-is-the-best-enterprise-database-server-new-specjappserver2004-cost-metric-introduced-too/]here and in particular at the post of Clemens Eisserer
Open source databases have come on in leaps and bounds in recent
years and represent a value for money solution in many cases where
an Oracle licence would be prohibitive.
I have a SE database on a small 2 CPU server that at this very moment is dealing
with up to 12,000 rows inserted every second into a single table.. after which that table
(an hour later containing around 40 million rows) is processed. You want me to believe
that an Open Source database can do the same? Then you will need to prove that cause
I don't think for a single moment that Open Source databases like mySQL, PostgreSQL
and Firebird are anywhere as capable and able as Oracle. Also, take a look at VoltDB - an Open Source high-performance database from
Michael Stonebraker - SQL and ACID in a novel new design.
There are "Lies, damned lies, statistics" and then* there are database benchmarks.
How big are your rows? I'm running Hammerora at the moment against an Oracle 10
XE instance and I'm getting Y no. of rows (I don't think that I'm allowed release any benchmarking
that I do "into the wild") inserted/second - how meaningful is that? What is the disk setup?
[url http://www.ib-aid.com/articles/item104]See here you have a very thorough
benchmark with inserts of 24K rows/sec into a Firebird database.
Table 3: Loading operations Description Value Time to load
    ~70 hours
    Total records inserted
    6.2 billions
    Average insertion speed
    24500 records/second
    Average record size
    146 bytes (min 13 bytes, max – 600 bytes)
    Transactions
646489I don't want to get into a religious war here ;) - particularly since this forum is hosted by
Oracle - I was just trying to explain to the OP why certain customers aren't interested in
the latest "bells and whistles" version of Oracle - 1 reason is that powerful software
is available for free elsewhere - although in terms of features, Oracle does have
the honour of the "kitchen-sink" implementation with a rich feature-set.

  • Can not remove the old version of itunes.

I am trying to install itunes7 , but about half way through the instalation it stops and asks me to locate "itunes.msi". I deleted all of my apple / ipod related files , but it still doesn't work. Help please.
    thanks

I am trying to install itunes7 , but about half way through the instalation it stops and asks me to locate "itunes.msi".
with that one, let's try the following procedure.
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?

  • How do I get an old version of iTunes?

I'm running 10.4.11 and because of some quirks with a Final Cut Pro project I have on my system I cannot upgrade Quicktime past 7.1.6. Unfortunately, I accidentally upgraded iTunes to a newer version which won't run on Qtime 7.1.6. Looking around the web, and this forum, I can't find an old version of iTunes for Mac anywhere. Any ideas? I'd hate to have to resort to reinstalling Tiger just for one little app.
