Can I stop Apple's spam filters restricting genuine mail messages

I suspect that a genuine e-mail has been wrongly treated as spam by Apple's internal spam filters? The item in question is an e-newsletter from a UK preserved railway company of which I am a member. The sender has checked the log files and verified that the item has been successfully sent to the correct address, but it has not arrived in my Mail account, either in the in box or the junk folder. I suspect that for some reason the Apple automatic spam filter is preventing the newsletter from reaching me. How do find out if that is the case and then tell Apple that their filter is treating genuine mail as spam, without having to pay for contact with Apple support?

It's not there either. I suspect that Apple are employing some sort of spam mail filters which come into effect before the mail reaches either my iCloud account or the mail account. In the past I have reported some persistent spam to Apple by forwarding it to [email protected] I then stopped receiving that spam, so they must be filtering it at a higher level. The e-newsletter is sent out by the railway as a bulk e-mail, so I suspect that its falling foul of Apple's filters. How can I get that message to Apple. They are causing the problem, so I don't see why I should have to pay a support fee for the privilege of telling them!

  • Can't stop the email spam

    Anyone know how to stop junk email from coming into Apple mail?  On my Windows computer, spam doesn't come through on Outlook. Verizon email settings show spam detector is on and emails are deleted. But that doesn't solve the problem on my iPad and iPhone, I can't stop the constant stream of spam email. Any ideas?

    The Yahoo mail app remembers spam when it comes up again if you mark it with the Yahoo Mail app.
    If you use Gmail or Yahoo mail app, they each have an icon to label emails as spam.   Yahoo uses a shield icon.
    if you use the stock app, tap the file folder and send to junk.   In settings app, under mail, make sure it is set to "send spam to JUNK"

  • Can I stop Apple from sending me an email every time I locate my device using Findmyiphone?

    Apple sends me an email notification every time someone locates my iphone.  Can I stop these emails?

    It is a privacy improvement issue, but there is no setting for it. If this is occurring when you are logging into the Find My iPhone app from a phone, if you have a passcode lock on the phone, it will no longer log out of Find My iPhone and once you sign in you will not receive another email. If you log in from the same computer, once you do it the first time, it will not do it again from the computer, unless you disable cookies on the computer. If you do not like the feature and do not find that using the information I provided doesn't help you, then you can provide feedback for Apple on their feedback page HERE, then click on the appropriate link.

    Check for .dll files
    Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
    If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
    Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
    Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
    Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

  • Can I stop Apple Hot News RSS feeds?

    Hi
    Can I unsubscribe from the Apple Hot News RSS feeds? I don't read them and really don't know how I signed up for them in the first place! If someone could tell me how to stop them appearing in my inbox that would be great.
    Many thanks

    I am fairly certain you can do this by simply deleting the feed. You can "right click" on the feed and select delete. That should do it.
    I also stumbled upon a listing in the Preferences. You go to Rules. (Click the arrows pointing to the right.) and there is a listing for Apple News. I don't know what that is but it looks like it can be deleted if you need to. I hesitate to delete something if I don't know what it does.
    BTW - Let me just say I am a new Mac user so don't take what I say as gospel.

  • How can i stop Apple ID Expiring emails

          I am continuosly getting emails, asking me to update my Apple ID or my ID will expire in 48 hrs. They ask that I am to click on a link to Apple support.  The emails look real, as though they were sent by Apple, but they originate in other countries, such as this morning I have two from Apple -Ireland and earlier I have received some in french. But there are emails just about daily and I will get 2 or 3 at a time and this has been going on for months.
         At first I was a little concerned about these emails, but thought they had to be a scam of some sort. But I checked, the Apple support forums and found out others have been getting the same emails, and were noted as being a scam. Also I have been forwarding them to Apple Report Phishing, but I am not sure what Apple is doing about these websites. But how do I stop them from entering my inbox?  I mark them spam and junk, but they keep coming.

    I'm afraid that's not possible. The Outbox is just temporary. It only exist s when there are unfinished outbound messages.

  • How can I stop apple mail from autosaving drafts?

    Hello all,
    I have finally got myself a new computer and been immersed in the "new" way- my old mac was a bit like a volkswagen beetle, old and cranky but very efficient.
    This new interlaced madness is proving to be very confusing on many levels but here I will state one problem I am seeking a solution to:
    Apple mail autosaves  a copy of my email reply drafts every 30 seconds in my apple mail draft folder. - This means many copies are saved!!!
    How do I stop this?
    The reason I ask this is for the following reasons:
    1- If I don't send my reply after 30 seconds I have to manually delete the drafts.- I didn't know this until I was doing a little organising and have realised that I have quite a few drafts of the same message lying around in my google on mac (imap) "all mail" folder and these end up taking alot of space.
    2- These then get transfered to my google mail "all mail" folder and end up taking up more space.
    3- Manually deleting things from my google on mac "all mail" account is a pain in the *** because I need to delete it into the googletrash on mac and not any other deleting area. (unless I do it directly from gmail) I didn't know this until I had a read through google- the "all mail" archive is another pain in the ***.
    I was deleting these messages from my mac "all mail" mailbox and they just magically reappeared into the same "all mail" mailbox, meaning they are downloaded from the server continually- I hate to think how much more that adds to data roaming.
    Possible solutions I have tried out:
    1- uncheck the "save draft on server" box in mail;preferences;mailbox behaviour (and saving it) - I did this and tried to write a message and there it appeared as each 30 seconds passed
    2- change the mac mailbox behaviour settings to gmail Imap settings for apple mail and save these- as above, I wrote a message and it still appeared in my drafts folder, new, message appearing every 30 seconds.
    3- uncheck the "use idle command if server suppors it"  box in mail;preferences; accounts;advanced (as someone mentions in another forum) and the message still autosaves.
    HELP!
    1. This seems to be common with most people
    2. I am using gmail and IMAP on mac book pro 2012 10.7.4, lion
    3. This never happened with my volkswagen which was also a mac but from 2006
    4. Some people say this is Imap related. I have only noticed it with this apple mail and have read it has been happening to people since 2008.
    5. Look forward to new solutions

    I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
    I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
    I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

  • How Iphone theft can be stopped (Apple please read this)

    Its good to hear all the time that apple has come up with an anti theft feature which has reduced theft of this lovely device by so much of percentage, but its still happening. Lets understand, if your iphone is stolen you put it on the lost mode and keep waiting for it to appear on Find my iphone. We are quiet confident that nobody other than us can erase this device (because of icloud password), which is by far true, but what if the stolen phone is dismantled and its parts are sold separately.
    Therefore, what I want to propose to apple is that every hardware in iphone should have a unique no. which is read by the operating system everytime its restarted and if any part is replaced from one phone to another then iOS should ask for the unique no. which should be entered only once at the time of replacement and this unique no. for each part should come as a part of operating manual in the iphone box. I am sure theft will be over by almost 99%.
    I lost my brand new iphone 5s within 24 days of purchase which hits me inside like anything and I really feel that when you buy such an expensive phone then there should be something done for its security.
    Hope apple will surely consider the same and bring something on this ground soon.

    There is already an anti theft device on the iPhone called Activation Lock which is very practical and seems to be working well, if recent press reports are to be believed. What you are suggesting is way beyond the scope of reality and would not deter thefts. I'm sure that a very low number of iPhones are sold for their parts. It probably is a measure of last resort on the part of thieves.
    Security for your phone is ultimately up to you and not the manufacturer. You have been given the tools to help. Whatever happens to your phone  in the end is your responsibility and no one else's.
    If you still want to tell Apple, tell them yourself, as no one on this forum works for Apple and Apple does not monitor this forum.

  • How can you stop Apple from forcing an update of PAGES?

    Every time I turn around I'm getting this notification on my screen to update PAGES to the downscaled version 5.  It annoyingly won't leave the screen even though anyone with good sense that has seen the reviews, knows you don't want version 5.
    How do you stop the perpetual notifications that demand we permit Apple shove this version 5 down our throats?
    I do not want version 5.
    I do not want to lose the vertical ruler
    I do not want to lose the inspector block
    I do not want to downscale my word-processing to fit on a phone (this is a business not a playground)
    I do not want to lose the variable line spacing capabilities of the better version 4
    and the list goes on....
    How do you stop the perpetual annoyance of it wanting updates?

    System Preferences > App Store > uncheck Automatically check for updates. You may have to reboot for these changes to take effect.
    If you update to IOS 7 on an iDevice, Pages for IOS will update to v2.2.1 — which is the OS X Pages v5 document architecture. Same drill for Pages for iCloud beta. Both of these would require sharing MS Word documents with your OS X Pages ’09 solution for document compatibility.

  • How can I stop Apple Mail from scrolling to top as image loads?

    Hi, I receive a daily email that includes dozens of inline images (it's the TechCrunch daily email, FYI). When I open it in Apple Mail, every time an image loads, the scroll bar jumps back to the top of the email. This effectively makes it impossible to read any of the email until after all the images load, since as I start to read it from the top, a moment later (as the next image down further in the email loads), it jumps me right back to the very top of the email. The only way I can read the email is to open it in Apple Mail and then sit there for a moment until all the images load. (I can't even switch to another window or put that email window in the background-- Apple Mail apparently is smart enough to not load images when the window isn't front-and-center.)
    Needless to say, this is a super-annoying issue I haven't ever seen this in any other email program and I think it definitely counts as a bug (or at the very least, a supreme, supreme annoyance).
    Anyone else seeing this, and/or have a solution?
    Thanks--
    Eric

    This is happening to me too, and I have had enough of it! I never got around to complaining about it, and I suspect many others are the same way. However, I think it is fair to call it a 'bug' and that apple should make a statement or fix about it

  • Bypass spam filters for certain mail addresses

    I am looking for a way to bypass virus checks on mail from a certain mail user (actually system mail sent from a process that we have, so we can trust it).
    I have been playing with the @bypassspam_checksacl = qw( [email protected] ); entry in /etc/amavisd.conf but this doesn't seem to bypass as I would expect.
    Does anyone know if this file might be over riden else where or perhaps if I can bypass in another way?
    Cheers

    Greetings
    there is probably more than one way to skin a cat.
    here is a postfix only method however i'm not sure if it will pass all before amavid. so see the snippit from the amavisd.conf below.
    main.cf
    smtpd_recipient_restrictions = hash:/etc/postfix/spamlovers, .....
    create a file call spamlovers
    [email protected] OK
    biggroup.net OK
    that will prevent all subsequent anti-spam checks from being applied to
    the listed recipient domains/addresses. in short - they want spam, let
    them eat spam.
    ((snip)) amavisd.conf
    # %bypass_virus_checks, @bypass_virus_checks_acl and $bypass_virus_checks_re
    # lookup tables:
    # (this is mainly a time-saving option, unlike virus_lovers* !)
    # Similar in concept to %virus_lovers, a hash %bypass_virus_checks,
    # access list @bypass_virus_checks_acl and regexp list
    $bypass_virus_checks_re
    # are used to skip entirely the decoding, unpacking and virus checking,
    # but only if ALL recipients match the lookup.
    # %bypass_virus_checks/@bypass_virus_checks_acl/$bypass_virus_checks_re
    # do NOT GUARANTEE the message will NOT be checked for viruses - this may
    # still happen when there is more than one recipient for a message, and
    # not all of them match these lookup tables. To guarantee virus delivery,
    # a recipient must also match %virus_lovers/@virus_lovers_acl lookups
    # (but see milter limitations above),
    # NOTE: it would not be clever to base virus checks on SENDER address,
    # since there are no guarantees that it is genuine. Many viruses
    # and spam messages fake sender address. To achieve selective filtering
    # based on the source of the mail (e.g. IP address, MTA port number, ...),
    # use mechanisms provided by MTA if available.
    # Similar to lookup tables controlling virus checking,
    # there exist spam scanning and banned names/types control counterparts:
    # %spam_lovers, @spam_lovers_acl
    # %banned_files_lovers, @banned_files_lovers_acl
    # and:
    # %bypass_spam_checks/@bypass_spam_checks_acl/$bypass_spam_checks_re
    # (but no bypass_banned_checks, as $bypass_decode_parts controls it
    already)
    # See README.lookups for detailsabout the syntax.
    # The following example disables spam checking altogether,
    # since it matches any recipient e-mail address (any address
    # is a subdomain of the top-level root DNS domain):
    # @bypass_spam_checks_acl = qw( . );
    # See README.lookups for further detail, and examples below.
    # $virus_lovers{lc("postmaster\@$mydomain")} = 1;
    # $virus_lovers{lc('[email protected]')} = 1;
    # $virus_lovers{lc('[email protected]')} = 1;
    # $virus_lovers{lc('some.user@')} = 1; # this recipient, regardless of
    domain
    # $virus_lovers{lc('[email protected]')} = 0; # never, even if domain matches
    # $virus_lovers{lc('example.com')} = 1; # this domain, but not its
    subdomains
    # $virus_lovers{lc('.example.com')}= 1; # this domain, including its
    subdomains
    #or:
    # @virus_lovers_acl = qw( [email protected] !lab.xxx.com .xxx.com yyy.org );
    # $bypass_virus_checks{lc('[email protected]')} = 1;
    # @bypass_virus_checks_acl = qw( some.ddd !butnot.example.com
    .example.com );
    # @virus_lovers_acl = qw( [email protected] );
    # $virus_lovers_re = new_RE( qr'(helpdesk|postmaster)@example\.com$'i );
    # $spam_lovers{lc("postmaster\@$mydomain")} = 1;
    # $spam_lovers{lc('[email protected]')} = 1;
    # $spam_lovers{lc('[email protected]')} = 1;
    # @spam_lovers_acl = qw( !.example.com );
    # $spam_lovers_re = new_RE( qr'^user@example\.com$'i );
    # don't run spam check for these RECIPIENT domains:
    # @bypass_spam_checks_acl = qw( d1.com .d2.com a.d3.com );
    # or the other way around (bypass check for all BUT these):
    # @bypass_spam_checks_acl = qw( !d1.com !.d2.com !a.d3.com . );
    # a practical application: don't check outgoing mail for spam:
    # @bypass_spam_checks_acl = ( "!.$mydomain", "." );
    # (a downside of which is that such mail will not count as ham in SA
    bayes db)
    I'm sure anyone of these methods will allow the lovers of the blessed spam to fill their hearts content. Hope you have good hard drives

  • How can i stop icloud from sending me a e-mail everytime I write or update a note on my iphone???

    Every time I make a new note, or even when I simply update an existing note (this can be a minor change such as one letter) an email is sent to my Gmail. It never shows as an unread new email in my inbox, but it's there, in my "All mail" folder. I now have thousands of e-mails sent from "me" with a copy of each note I've written and updated, even if it's a minor change. This is ridiculous. Who the **** thought of this absurd system? Why on earth would I want to keep track of every minor change I make?
    It is preposterous to see that Apple (and other companies with "cloud" servers) are keeping track of ALL the information we type in our phones. Nothing is private anymore, nothing is truly ours. Thank you "cloud" for stripping us from our privacy and freedom and for making Orwell's vision become reality. I've always wanted a big brother... Everything might be going up in the cloud, but hopefully it will rain a lot, soon. We have to find a way to bring the personal computer back.
    Anyway, please let me know how I can disconnect myself from iCloud, I just like using Google drive from time to time to store certain notes and documents.
    Thank you,
    -Julien A6

    Hey there,
    Unfortunately this issue is going to have to be addressed on the iphone senders end. They will need to turn on "send as SMS" in their settings of their iPhones because when an iMessage fails, it should send SMS and get to your android.
    Also, rumor has it updating to iOS 7.1.1 on the other iPhones will clear the system as well but as long as you've already called AppleCare and they degregistered your number from iMessage, you should be good.
    Hope this helps
