Can I stop the vibrating alarm clock?

I've just started using iCal again after a number of years. In past versions, I used to be able to control-click on the vibrating alarm clock when I got a pop-up reminder and tell it to stop vibrating. Now I can't seem to click on it. I like to leave the window open as a reminder, but that vibrating clock takes up a lot of CPU. Is this no longer possible to stop? Thanks!

Just don't know if I should go with a dual-core or a quad core for my music/video/ and photography. I do know I want 16gb of ram but the price difference is pretty significant between a dual vs a quad.
