Can i store Arabic in XE database

How can i make a form in APEX to take Arabic text and to store it in XE database?
Thanks in Advace
Regards.
Mazahir Abbas

Hello Mazahir,
>> when I try to enter any numeric value in arabic, it does not take numbers in Arabic
I’m assuming your client (browser) supports Arabic numbers. What you mean by “not take”? Are you getting an error message or the Arabic numbers stored as garbage?
Please translate the following into Arabic numbers, so I’ll be able to check it further:
1234
Also, please specify your local OS, the browser you are using and the specific Arabic language (e.g. ar-EG).
Regards,
Arie.

  • Can LR store samll thumbnails in database or somewhere to have better DAM functions?

    I notice that thumbnails is using data in standard preview cache,
    so standard preview cache will be very big because for default setup one raw file need around 1.3M, so 10000 photos needs 13G, take too much harddisk space.
    If preview cache is deleted and RAW files is archived offline, we will not see thumbnails for the archived raw files (lost files) any more.
    we have problems to use LR as DAM tools.
    So I like to suggest that
    1. LR should store a reasonable size thumbnails in catalog data base or somewhere to let user to import into main catalog or backup easily.
    2. Standard view cache also can be discard to save disk space.
    3. Have archived mark and linkage info ( Hard disk or DVD volume ) to let user mount related raw files easily.
    4. one RAW file with different names should be treated as one file with one record in catalog to solve the rename issue. I think it can be done as in C1, the system use same work file(adjustment data) for raw file with different names.
    any comment from your guys?

    thanks, jay.
    hehe, we may retain thumbnail-cache.db and delete the rest.
    BTW, I think it is better to keep in the main directory and have the option to do backup and integrity test.

  • Can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?

    Hi ,
    can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?
    My oracle database is Oracle Database 10g Release 10.1.0.5.0 - 64bit Production on unix HP-UX ia64.
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
    I have presently stored the data in nvarchar2 field. But i am not able to display it correctly.

    Using the national characterset should work but there are other factors that you have to consider when working with NCHAR/NVARCHAR2/NCLOB.
    If possible, changing the characterset is usually the best solution if it's a possiblity for you.

    Generally speaking you'll need a character set that can support the characters you require.
    Here is a link to the supported character sets in 10.2.x.x:

    Is it possible to read more than one file from the local system and store them in a database.

    What "problem" are you encountering?
    Depending on your choice of database software, it may or may not support the storage of binary large objects (BLOBs).

  • How many users/ schemas can we create in an oracle database?

    How many users can we create in an oracle database? Or how many users can oracle handle?
    Problem-
    I have to store information of ontologies (I will use countries instead) in db.
    I have to store information regarding countries.
    I have 13 tables in all to maintain for each country.
    Now there are two approaches:
    1) keep only 13 tables. Have an extra column in each table to indicate that a particular
    row stores information for which country.
    2) create a new user/ schema for each country. So we can get rid of the extra column
    needed in 1st approach.
    I have used the second approach. This is because number of entries in each table for a
    given country will be large.
    So initially when the s/w is installed I create a central-user. Each time data for new
    country has to be entered central-user creates a user/ schema, and creates tables for
    this user/ schema. The central user can access the tables of all the countries by
    country_name.table_name. By this approach I believe searching would be easy.
    If there is any flaw in my approach kindly mention it.
    Thank you

    There is no (practical at least) limit to the number of users & schemas you can have in Oracle.
    Your approach, however, is not going to scale nearly as well as the first option you outlined (adding a column). You are going to end up caching every possible variation of the various queries you're going to be executing because you will be referring to so many different tables, which is going to mean that you are doing a lot more work to parsing statements and generally churning through the shared pool. If you create enough users, you're liable to start hitting ORA-04030 errors because your shared pool is so fragmented.
    Additionally, you're likely going to end up with a whole lot of dynamically generated SQL to accommodate new schemas getting added over time which is going to cause you even more pain. Figuring out dynamically what table to join in is a heck of a lot more difficult for the programmer to write and for the database to handle than simply passing in a different country code.
    If you're concerned about having too much data, you can have your cake and eat it to by adding the country column and partitioning the tables based on country.
    Justin
    One other item I forgot to mention is maintainability. Having dozens or hundreds of "identical" schemas makes maintenance a huge pain because something like adding a new column now requires dozens or hundreds of separate DDL statements. You're almost guaranteed that some schema isn't going to be in sync-- it's going to miss a column or miss an index, etc.

  • Can I store photos in Photoshop Elements Editor?

    I have OSX Lion 10.7.  Before spending $80 on Photoshop Elements 10 Editor from the  Apple App Store, I have a couple of questions...
         1.  Can I download photos from my camera directly to Photoshop Elements, or must thry go to iPhoto first?
         2.  After I process photos using PSE Editor, can I store them in Photoshop Elements, or must they be stored in iPhoto?
            Thanks for your help.........

    Elements editor is an editor, not a storage program. Even the full version of PSE that you buy elsewhere than the app store does not store your photos. The organizer program that comes with that is merely a database of the photos you store elsewhere.
    You don't have to use iphoto if you don't want to. If you want an image manager there are several others to choose from (aperture, lightroom, etc), or you can just use folders if you prefer that method.
    In any case, all the Elements Editor does is edit, not store.

  • Help:- Store Word file in database using blob

    Hai all,
    i want to store word document in database and reterieve from database but i don't have any idea i heared about blob but i don't know how to make it any one have source code or example form pls send me
    email: [email protected]

    Hello,
    First of all, you have got to be granted the privilege to read and write to the file system, this is a must to use BFile read access.
    A global function bfilename returns a bfile taking the file path as an argument is needed to construct a blob object through dbms_lob.loadfromfile.
    A very helpful example I found on orafaq follows:Create a link to the directory where the file to load in the blob is
    (connect as system then grant read privilege to your user):
    create or replace directory blob_dir as 'C:\Documents';
    Custom the following procedure that I copied from a Thread
    create or replace procedure blob_ins(p_id in number, p_filename in
    varchar2) as
    l_bfile bfile;
    l_blob blob;
    begin
    insert into blob_test(p_id, empty_blob())
    returning blob_file into l_blob;
    l_bfile := bfilename('BLOB_DIR', p_filename);
    dbms_lob.fileopen(l_bfile);
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile(l_blob, l_bfile, dbms_lob.getlength(l_bfile));
    dbms_lob.fileclose(l_bfile);
    commit;
    return;
    end blob_ins;
    You can use UTL_FILE package in another way, but this is much more safe;
    Have Fun

  • Document stores in both SAP database and Content Server

    Hi,
    We don't want to store doc. in SAP database and chose to use content server. We have KPro checked in configuration also.
    Our basis team has created a content repository ZP that points to the content server, in the document area.. they enter "ARCHLINK" instead of DMS. So they told me to create doc. and pick this new ZP to store the doc. But we I created a doc. in CV01N, went to check in the original, the new repository ZP is not on the list of choice to pick from. So I cannot store the doc. in that new content repository.
    Our basis team told me that if we use DMS in the document area, the doc. stores in both SAP database and Content Server. We don't want to have doc. stores in SAP database that's why we have content server.
    How can I create DMS and store in content server only (not SAP database) ?
    Thank you,
    Sam Schwartzberg

    Hi Samantha,
    While check-in activity are you able to choose the new content repository i.e. ZP?
    If not then use t-code OAC0 and while creating the repository check whether the certificate is activated by basis or not .
    If not then you need to activate the certificate for the new repositoty in CSADMIN then only it will appear in the list while "check-in" the dcouments.
    Please check for the same. Also check the t-code OACT , this new repository is shown or not.
    I hope this will resolve the query.

  • How to store files in mysql database using JSP?

    I'm developing an online recruitment system using JSP in server side. For the users who registers in it, I want them to upload their cv's from the web site so that I can store it in the database..I'm using mysql as the db..
    Can I know how to do it.?..or else is there any better way of doing that?
    Need a quick reply..Tx

    The best way to put data in a database in a JSP is to not do it. Instead, use a Servlet that calls a DataAccessObject. The DAO puts the data in the DB and the servlet gives the data to the DAO. The JSP does nothing but display results.
    Take a google for JSP MVC and DAO. BalusC has a great example of DAO and a JSP that uses one on his blog.

  • Store PDF files in database.

    hi all
    how to store PDF files in database and how to retreive plz guide me thanks in davance.
    sarah

    Sarah,
    so your pdf-document is stored in the database.
    we jump over step 4 what would be the code for sending the pdf-file to the database ...
    Step 5 open the stored pdf-file:
    Please create a when-mouse-doubleclick trigger on your filename-item:
    declare
    l_temp_file constant varchar2(255) := client_win_api_environment.get_environment_string ( 'Temp' ) || '\temp.pdf';
    begin
    if
    :pdf.filename is not null
    then
      if
        webutil_file_transfer.db_to_client ( l_temp_file, 'PDF', 'PDF', ' id_pdf = ''' || :pdf.id_pdf || '''' )
      then
        client_host ( 'cmd /C start ' || l_temp_file );
      else
        Message ( 'Failure while downloading ' || :pdf.filename || ' from the database. ' || dbms_error_text );
        Message ( ' ' );
        clear_message;
      end if;
    else
      Message ( 'No PDF-file selected.'  );
      Message ( ' ' );
      clear_message;
    end if;
    end;Save your form, compile and run it.
    Execute a query on the pdf-block and doubleclick your filename item.
    Now you can read your forms reference pdf direct from the database :).

  • Can't store UTF8 strings from ASP in NVARCHAR2 column?!

    Hi,
    I have a problem to get UTF8 strings into my XE database, i.e. the russian input characters 'письма' return as '¿¿¿¿¿¿'.
    The NLS config for database is:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET: AL16UTF16
    Because I can't set up the whole database as UNICODE, I took the way with NVARCHAR columns, that use NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET: AL16UTF16.
    In my tests I'm running a sample ASP page (in JScript, UTF8 as codepage, ADO with OraOLEDB.Oracle provider) the posts a form and updates an ascii ('a')and a nvarchar column ('u') these ways:
    1. using literals with/ without N' prefix:
    sql="update utf8test set a="+t_a+", u=N"+t_u+" where id=1";
    2.using bind variables:
    sql="update utf8test set a=?, u=? where id=1";
    using: adVarChar, adVarWChar
    And at last, even in my Oracle Enterprise Manager (9i, "edit table contents", copy & paste UTF8 text) and XE SQL aren't able to store any UTF8 texts.
    Can anybody help with this problem, please?
    Thank you in advance.
    Mathias
    PS:
    Changing the database connection to Access (.mdb), MS SQL-Server and also PostgreSQL (created as UNICODE db) works fine without changing my code.

    it worked ! thank you very much!
    But it's really annoying to read a 454 pages pdf of "Globalization Support Guide Oracle 9.2" and this simple parameter is nowhere mentioned :-(
