Can I stream from iphone 3g to apple tv

I Just moved and cannot get cable/internet for another week. Soo... My iphone has internet (duh!) but cannot support a wireless hotspot. I also have at my disposal a MacBook Pro and an airport express. What I would like to do is stream from my iphone to my 3rd gen Apple TV. Can I somehow setup a network for sharing without having the iphone try to use the wifi for internet. Or could it be possible to connect the MacBook Pro to the Apple TV via a wifi network then stream the phone to the MacBook Pro via Bluetooth?

You can't use the cellular connection to stream data from the web and then share it using a wifi hotspot on your phone to use AirPlay if that is what you are after.
You can however set up a proper wifi network using a router if you want without having an outside connection and use it to Airplay content on your phone you downloaded from your cellular network.

My Apple TV is on the same home network as my iPhone and on the television main screen I can see iTunes Radio and Netflix and all of the other apps, so I have it set up, however, when I try to check for Updates, it starts working * and then is always unable to connect. So can someone help me resolve this so I can stream content from my iPhone to the Apple TV? It used to work but I recently changed providers and the new provider added my Wi-Fi of my Apple TV so the device is recognized, but still when I try to stream it won't send whats on my phone to the Apple TV. Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are experiencing networking issue with your Apple TV. You mentioned receiving an error message when attempting to check for updates - how about when you try other internet-related tasks? Do any of the apps work (i.e. trailers, iTunes store, etc)?

I understand that a previous response from us didn’t resolve an issue you have with the BBC iPlayer, via your Apple TV device.
Streaming programmes should be able to play using airplay but downloaded programmes are not currently supported on the Apple TV.
However, we aim to resolve this in a future update to the BBC iPlayer.
We do appreciate the time taken to report this issue as all feedback received helps us to develop and improve the service.
Your comments have been used to inform a daily report which is sent to the BBC iPlayer team, including the head of BBC iPlayer.

Home Sharing is turned on, but I can't see my iTunes library on my Apple TV, also I've no idea, how to stream from my MacBook or PC to the Apple TV. Firewall is offline during testing. Streaming photos and from iOS-devices works.

What happens you you try? Are you looking under Music or Computers > Music. Have you entered in the home sharing ID you created in to ATV?

I can't get my iPhone and iPad to recognize Apple TV any longer. I've always been able to do this before, and Apple TV works fine otherwise...downloading movies or pulling content (photos, music) from the home computer.

I had the same problem last week. My Apple TV was connected to my Apple Airport Express which was set to expand my Wifi. My iPhone and my Mac were connected to my main router, the Apple Airport Extreme. I changed the Airport Express setup from expand network to join network. Maybe you have a similar problem?

You need to turn off the option to copy content to the iTunes folder in iTunes preferences, then when you add new content to iTunes you will need to place the content on one of the HDDs and then drag and drop it onto iTunes from a finder window.
Or you can alternatively leave the "Copy" option on and simply press the Alt-key when dragging and dropping content to momentarily suspend the "Copy" of the dragged content to the library. (I.e., iTunes will gladly manage both copied and non-copied content as long as you do not move or delete the non-copied files at the Finder level after adding them to the iTunes database.)

No you cannot. The only Blutooth support for the ATV is keyboards.
AirPlay requires the ATV and source (iPhone/iPad/computer) be on the same network, wired or wireless.

As far as I know you can't, which sort of makes sense, it seems logical to pause whatever you are doing while you take a phone call, which after all is the primary function of a phone.

I had a av cord that plugged into the iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 but its not compatible with the 5 connector. Right now i have to email myself the videos in small segments and open and save on the iPad 2 to burn them. Is there an easier way to burn these from my iPhone 5 or through air play on apple tv?

Connect the phone by USB to the computer, import with image capture, iPhoto or whatever application you use to import movies, drop it into iTunes.

Do you mean that you removed the phone from the 'manage devices' section of your iTunes account ? If you do then that won't stop you being able to purchase items on your phone - you only need to be logged into an account to be able to purchase with it.
If you do mean the 'manage devices' section then you can associate, or re-associate, a device (or computer) by using iTunes Match, or automatic downloads, or redownloading past purchases on it : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

Streaming from Time Capsule to Apple TV

I'm considering to purchase the Time Capsule. My purpose is to have a wireless HD with my complete iTunes Library on it and tstreming music and video to ATV.
Does anyone have exprerience with this set up?

I am assuming that you currently have the existing model of the Apple TV and not the latest just announced by Apple ... correct?
If so, you are already aware that the Apple TV can either "duplicate" your iTunes Library or can accept streams from an iTunes host. If your goal is to use the new Time Capsule (TC) as the location of the iTunes Library, this should work, but bandwidth performance will be critical, especially for streaming HD video.
To stream, you will need to take into consideration the path that the stream will be required to take to get to the Apple TV. For HD video, you will want this path to be Gigabit Ethernet wherever possible ... so ideally (but not necessarily practically) that would mean that the iTunes host and the Apple TV would need to be connected to the TC by Ethernet. That is because, the iTunes host must first contact the TC to access its iTunes Library. The TC will stream the data to the iTunes host and, in turn, the host will stream it back to the TC, and finally, the TC will stream it to the Apple TV. The path taken, of course, will change depending on the connection types (wired or wireless) ... and if you have configured the Apple TV as an iTunes speaker.
