I know that I can stream from iPad to apple tv but can I listen to what's playing from my iMac to my apple tv and my iPad at the same time.

With AirPlay, you can't: Apple has recently (see Airfoil Speakers Touch - story at http://daringfireball.net/2012/05/more_on_airfoil_speakers_touch ) removed all the audio AirPlay receivers from the AppStore.
HOWEVER! There are a plethora of third-party audio servers capable of sending audio to iPads. For example, you can easily start a radio server on your desktop, which most radio receiver apps will be able to play back. Also, there are a lot of specialized p2p audio streaming apps.
Going this way, unfortunately, requires you to install a third-party server on your Mac.

Yes. It is in Settings, but I cannot tell you where at this moment. Just click around in Settings, and you will see an Airplay drop down like on your Mac.

No it is not. The only information synced regarding email accounts is the email account information only and this is in one direction only - from your computer to the iPhone via iTunes.

You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

Can't stream Music from iTunes to my Apple TV

I bought an ATV for the sole purpose of being able to stream music from my PC iTunes account to my Samsung smart TV. As it turns out, that is the one thing my ATV will not do. I have had my ATV for about three months and have never been able to stream music to it from my PC. I do not see my ATV as a device in iTunes and I do not have the airplay icon visible in iTunes

Here are some things which work fine on the ATV:
Netflix works perfectly e.g., it sees my wifi network
Youtube works perfectly
Under Music I can see the 2 songs my wife purchased from the iTunes store – I purchase all my music from Amazon.
Things I have done
Turned Home Sharing on and am using the same account in iTunes and on my ATV
Reinstalled iTunes – 11.0.2.26
Updated ATV to latest software
Rebooted my computer – several times
Rebooted my router – several times
How do I resolve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried a new approach and unplugged my ATV brought it over to my computer and connected it to my router via ethernet. This caused the airplay icon to show up on the transport bar in iTunes. I could select the ATV as an output. I disconnected the ethernet cable and reconnected the ATV to my TV. The airplay icon remains in iTunes but the ATV is no longer there as an option - only my computer speakers. Any ideas?

If I can't do that, all I could do would be to record it (using Audio Hijack or iRecordMusic) and then play it via iTunes, but that meant I couldn't listen to it directly.

Can't stream music from iPhone to airport express when connected to internet

I have an issue with my airport express. When the unit is used solely for streaming music from my IPhone to connected stereo speakers without an Ethernet cable attached it works fine. When I attach an Ethernet cable to the airport express and connect to the Internet on my iPhone, the airport express will no longer stream music from the iPhone. This is a recent problem, previously I was able to access the Internet on my iPhone from the airport express, whilst simultaneously streaming music from the iPhone back to the airport express.

Do you mean Lan cable? Can this be done wirelessly from itunes to airport express without the internet connections? I can't connect to an airport express that's not connected to the internet.

Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil for your Mac paired with Airfoil Speakers for your iPad should allow you to do this. Airfoil costs about $30 and is a great program that allows you to do all sorts of neat things like stream music from other apps than just iTunes to remote speakers using an Airport Express. Airfoil Speakers is free from the App Store.

Streaming Music from my PC to IPad: After activating Home Share on both systems, where do I view the music that is on my PC, from my iPad that I want to stream?

I thought Steve kept thins simple, however I am trying to stream music from my PC to my IPad.
As simple as I thought intellectual programmers would have made things for users, it seems I should have studied rocket science.
Please Help: Home Sharing has been activated on PC and IPad. I now want to view my music on my PC from my iPad and choose what I want to listen.
Please guide me through the process.

You can sync music and other content to an iPad via your computer's iTunes (a free download from here) - you don't have to purchase anything in order to use the program. You can buy music from Apple, from other sites and/or copy your own CDs via iTunes, and then sync them to the iPad via iTunes.

I don't know what country that you are in, but there is a Kindle app available for the iPad in a number of countries (the app is free) which can be linked to your Amazon account so you can download your kindle ebooks into it. There are also Nook and Kobo ereader apps.
There are also a number of PDF reader apps for the iPad, some of them free like Apple's iBooks and Adobe Reader, and some which are paid-for which are more powerful e.g. GoodReader.
Films can be purchased from Apple, or there are other sites such as Netflix with their own apps. The iPad natively supports a number of video formats (they are listed on this page).

No, not directly.. but to get the movies onto your iPad you need to sync them on there from your computer running iTunes.. you can likewise sync those same movies from your computer running iTunes to the appleTV..
i create a playlist of all the videos on my iPad (mostly for kids movies they are interested in right now).. so to put those same movies on my appleTV i would just define the sync to appleTV to include that playlist..

yes - the built-in music app allows to select one speaker only at the same time.
now i've found the WHAALE Multiroom Player App (http://www.whaale.com) - and it sends directly from the iOS Device to my 6 AirPlay speakers. One of them is an Apple TV...
all "in sync" and without any special hardware and additional software.
And i am able to stream different songs to different rooms...
Just AirPlay speakers - wifi router - WHAALE -> that's easy :-)
