Can I subscribe to a podcast directly on my apple tv

I am currently using my imac to subscribe to podcasts and then syncing to apple tv but this obviously means i need the computer on. Is there any way to do this on the apple tv directly? Sorry if this is a no brainer...

you can view them direct on the appletv (streaming them), or you can download individual episodes. but you can't subscribe to a podcast on the appletv.

Podcasts won't update and I can't subscribe to new podcasts

When my podcasts are supposed to update they all just get the grey circle with arrows on it beside them and none of them actually update. Also I can't subscribe to new podcasts when I press the subscribe button nothing happens.

I had this exact problem & fixed it by forcing a new /User/Library/preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist file to be created. (I renamed the existing plist to "com.apple.iTunes.plist_bak" so I could go back to it if necessary).
When you do this, iTunes will start up with the original setup menus - but you should not reimport your mp3s, etc - the existing library files will still be valid, etc.
After doing this, the podcasts loaded as usual...

2-5th Gen iPods on one account, can both subscribe to different podcasts?

My wife and I both have iPods on her account. Can we both subscribe to different podcasts and only list those?

With the later model iPods/iOS version you can subscribe to podcasts directly on the iPod.
Also, if you sync from a common iTunes library just check the podcasts you want synced to each device

I can't subscribe to a podcast I used to follow using my Podcast app (v2.2) on iPhone 4S

I've been following some podcast on iTunes Store for a while but have not been able to listen to all new episodes. The podcast has stopped downloading new contents since then. Recently, I want to re-subscribe that podcast and get automatic download. However, when I tried to subscribe to that podcast on my iPhone, my Podcast app won't work. I hit the subscribe button but the podcast still couldn't be added to my subscription list. If I download any episode of the podcast, a message will appear saying that it's unable to download.
That podcast still works well on iTunes. I can still subscribe and unsubscribe and download new episodes and sync them to my iPhone.
I'm using an iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.2, Podcast app v2.2.
Is there anyone here having the same issue? How do you fix it?

I tested this by using my two computers...
Are both computers connected to the Internet by the same router?
iTunes uses ports 80, 443 and 8080.
Could one of the ports be a blocked by a firewall or network blocking software?
What happens if you (temporary) turn off your firewall?

How can I subscribe to different podcasts on different computers?

Up until recenlty, I could susbcribe to different casts on two different computers. I sync my iPod with my iMac at home, and use this for most of my podcast listening. At work, I had a different set of podcasts I listened to at my desk. Now, I get both sets of casts on both computers. I don't want this! Seems like it came with an upgrade to iOS7, and or something to do with iCloud, but I cannot figure this out.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Exact same issue. I subscribe to Podcasts on my computer and my husband subscribes to different Podcasts on his computer, but we use the same Apple account. If I delete Podcasts from one computer it deletes them from the other. This wasn't the case until the recent upgrade to iTunes. I don't use the Cloud for any type of syncing, everything is done manually through iTunes.

I can't subscribe to any podcasts!

I can update my existing podcasts fine, but when I go to add new ones by clicking SUBSCRIBE, they don't appear on my Podcasts page! I'm going on a week-long trip tomorrow and thought I had subscribed for about 20 podcasts to save me from boredom, but then I checked and I saw that they weren't there.
I also tried doing it manually by copying the URL and pasting it into advanced > subscribe, but it gives an error and says there are no episodes to play. The name doesn't even load in my Podcasts page, it just shows the URL. I tried re-starting my computer and it didn't help.
Any advice? Why can I update podcasts but not add new ones? HELP, leaving first thing in the morning and it's 10pm!

i'm having the same problems. for instance on the espn page i have listed below, clicking on "subscribe" just sends me to the espn podcast page on itunes. if i copy the url that is at the top of the page (the same one i have listed below) into the "subscribe to podcast" area in itunes, nothing happens. please help!

Why can I no longer download podcast directly to my first gen touch.

Using download "get more episodes" feature over wifyno longer works for first gen iPod touch. I can add podcasts using iTunes. I can also add apps using wifi no problem

I am having the opposite problem. Even though downloads are off in the settings, it refuses to stop trying to download new podcasts. I prefer to manage it through iTunes, but the app insists on doing it all itself now. It is unusable for my purposes in this state.

Can't subscribe to podcast directly on iPad?

I've read elsewhere that you can't directly subscribe to a podcast on a iPad, that you have to subscribe to a podcast in iTunes on a Mac or PC and then new episodes will be transferred to your iPad when you sync it. Is that true?

OK, I've now had a look at the feed's coding. I'm surprised it works at all as you have no 'iTunes Declaration' in the second line, and no 'enclosure' tag containing the URL of the media file. The nearest you have is a link reading

I wouldn't have expected iTunes to read this, but it appears to be doing so; the same for the Store within iTunes. However given this it doesn't surprise me that the Podcasts app isn't playing nice with it. You would have been better off with the Feedburner feed, which does have the 'enclosure' tag, albeit as I said linking to the dubious Feedproxy URL. However you submitted the Blogger feed to iTunes and you are stuck with it as it won't be easy to change it (though not completely impossible).
More to the point, Blogger is capable of making iTunes-compliant feeds; I can't advise on specifics but there is presumably a setting to do this. If you can do this and re-upload the feed the problem should sort itself out.
Incidentally the 'length' attribute at the end of the enclosure should not be zero, but the file length in bytes - I don't know whether this will have any effect on the Podcasts app - iTunes on a Mac ignores it.

Connect your iPod to iTunes and check on the Device/Podcasts pane; there are several options for which Podcasts are "kept on/left on" the iPod at each Sync. Are they set the way you want? For instance, if the setting is "to keep on the iPod only new Podcasts", that would cause older Podcasts to be removed.
If you need to chnage the setting, you will need to Sync the iPod afterwards for the change to take effect.

How can I subscribe to a free podcast from a different country's i-store? I tried, but it says I can use only store in the country of residence. I just bought imac to be able to watch podcasts from my home country which is not country of residence... It is completely unreasonable!

You cannot.
As it has told you, you can use the itunes store of your country of residence and only while you are inside the borders of that country.

Users can not subscribe to podcast

I have had several people tell me that they are receiving error = 9006 when they are trying to subscribe to my podcast. When I went to go investigate I noticed that if I hit Check for Available Downloads that the cue would turn on and off in a second. If I went back and selected subscribe over again it will go through the motions, but won't actually subscribe. I've had to actually go in and manually select get episode in order for it to download correctly.
Since it has taken 3 days to post my latest podcast, I was wondering if there was an internal issue with Apple, or if this is something that I need to rectify?

Feedvalidator is pointing out the player that I have inserted in my blog. I'm assuming that Feedburner picks it up, and that for some reason feedvalidator is pointing it out. Also, the double link does not exist in code I currently have setup.
I am currently using Smartfeed within feedburner, the XML feed includes all of the items you are pointing out (sans the duration), so I'm not sure why iTunes isn't picking up on the information.

I am honestly very green at this (if it isn't obvious) and would like to set things up correctly. Any guidance you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.

Can't subscribe to podcast

My podcast "The Slewfoot Hockey Show" is searchable in the iTunes store and I can stream the various episodes. However, when I try to subscribe to the podcast, iTunes places a generic icon in my podcast folder but no episodes are listed.
The feed is at www.computerjitters.com/feed
I updated the feed last night with a new episode - it has been read and the new episode added to the iTS listing but the subscription fails.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 'itunes:subtitle' and 'itunes:subtitle' tags for your latest episode both contain an ampersand ('&'). You can't use ampersands by themselves because they represent the start of a code sequence: as it's never completed the closing tags are invalidated and this renders the entire feed unreadable by iTunes.
You need either to replace them with the word 'and' or the code
&
to get the feed working again.
