Can I swap an iTunes gift card for an Apple Store gift card? (Both digital versions)

Hello.
Wondering if anyone can help/advise.
I bought an iTunes £50 voucher online as a present for my sister, thinking she could redeem the value towards buying an iPad.
I opted for the code to be emailed on the day of her birthday, which is today.
However, I've just learned that I should have bought an Apple Store gift card... How confusing.
Will Apple likely be able to transfer the balance across? And if so, how do I do it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can't from Apple, they don't let you buy iTunes gift cards with an Apple Store gift card. You could see if a different store in your country might let you (though they possibly won't), or try selling the card to somebody e.g. family, friend, eBay etc

From what I see and from my experiment in the U.S, online Apple Store, I would say that yes you can. iTunes gift cards are sold in the Apple Online store and Apple Store gift cards are an accepted form of payment on the store, so that means to me that it is possible.

Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you dont want to use a credit card with the Apple ID and it wont let you. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

Can't redeem Apple Store gift card to buy iTunes card

I understand that this is the iTunes Store forum and I apologize in advance for posting here. For lack of an Apple Store forum I am kind of forced to post here.
I want to buy an iTunes gift card using my Apple Store gift cards. When I go to checkout, there doesn't appear to be any way to redeem my gift cards...? I can pay with a credit/debit card and there is a promo code option only. How is this supposed to work? Thanks

Thanks ed2345, but I actually was trying to buy an ipad Air 2 along with the iTunes gift cards. There doesn't seem to be an option to redeem gift cards on the payment screen...?

I bought an ipad and smart case, and with the purchase got a 50 dollar apple store gift card. I was wondering if i could use that to buy itunes gift cards? Preferrably just do it online and get the codes emailed, but if i had to i would go to the apple store and just use the card to buy the itunes cards there. My preference would be to save the trip but i will if theres no other way. Anyone know if either are possible or is that restricted? I would just really prefer to not have to spend so much more after buying all this stuff on the apps.

Apple stores, including online, won't let you buy iTunes gift cards with an Apple Store gift card - it can only be used to buy hardware/software from the store. Other stores might let you do so, or you could try selling the card

I was sent an Apple Store (NOT an iTunes) gift card over email, but I must have accidentally deleted it. I know you can resend iTunes gift cards, is there anyway to resend a gift card for the Apple Store?

I know that I can do that. I don't feel like spending any of my money or going and buying another card. I also doubt that im ever going to need more than 50 bucks on itunes. Apple Store gift cards can only be used in Apple stores and their online stores, they can't be used with the iTunes store - and they can't be used to buy iTunes gift cards from Apple.

So, many months ago, prior to the announcement that Lion would be downloaded and installed through the Mac App Store, I purchased an Apple Gift Card (not iTunes) to ensure the money was "set aside". I did this with the anticipation that Lion, like all other OS's before it, would be installed via a disc and not downloaded. "Apple Store Gift Cards may not be redeemed at the iTunes Store, through any Apple resellers, or at any Apple Online Store, Apple Specialist, or Apple Retail Store outside the United States."
However, this was not told to my aunt when she purchased the card for me. She thought, and I agree, that you should be able to purchase apple software with an apple store gift card. You can't.
