I was hoping I could so I don't have to wait for AT&T to activate my 4S. I've been trying for almost 4 hours with no luck. I don't see why I can't but I'm not an expert at all. Seems silly to waste my current sim card when it works perfectly fine.

Your SIM card is your identity on your carrier's network.
It allows them to track you, the bandwith your voice and data xfers worth, and to bill you accordingly.
Therefore, you cannot just swap the card as it has to be activated by your carrier on his network.

Yes you can install your current sim into the mini iPad. You have to cut the current sim to the nano sim. There are cutter available on eBay and amazon. You go to your local best-buy. Wouldn't work. You have to have a 3G iPad equipped for AT&T or Verizon to use the cellular feature. You pay by the month for this service. The 3G iPad includes a sim card & also additional electronics for AT&T or Verizon.

If you purchase an unlocked phone from Apple, it will cost you $650 and it will only partially work on Verizon's network. So, your better off buying a phone at full retail from Verizon for the same $650. It will function properly and, as all Verizon iPhones are sold with the GSM side unlocked, you'll be able to use it on other networks later.

No, it won't work because I think the iPhone 3gs take the full size sim card as far as I can remember and not even a micro sim.
The iPhone 4s has a much smaller sim card, so it just is not going to work.
What you could do is go to your carrier and purchase a Pay As You Go sim card in the correct size to fit a 3gs and put it in to activate the phone to use it as an iPod and then take it out.

The iPhone 5 uses a 4th generation SIM card (NanoSIM) while the Samsung Galaxy S3 uses a 3rd generation MicroSIM. You can however use your existing MicroSIM in an iPhone 4 or 4S

Yes all of the iPhone 5 family use the nano sim, so as long as you did not switch to a phone locked to another network it will work. But you do need to go through the activation/setup procedure with tHat sim.

iphone 5 will use nanosim instead of microsim so that one won't work
you could check you with carrier to see if they will give you another sim though but I dunno if the ATT 5 will have the right data bands so you might not get LTE or w/e

Simple answer is YES.
The only caviat is for instance in the UK some iPads are locked to a specific network provider and therefore if the new iPad is locked then it will only work on the specific network it is locked to.

You cannot. The iPhone is locked to Softbank, and only they can unlock it. Problem is that Softbank will NOT unlock the phone, as they do not offer iPhone unlocking.
Buy an iPhone in the Phillipines.
PS Before you go on a rant at Apple, be aware that Apple does NOT unlock phones and they do not set unlocking policies. The carriers (Softbank in this case) set the unlocking policy.

If your phone is officially unlocked, & either of the three authorized carriers, in Taiwan, have nano sims available, yes. Otherwise you'll have to get International Provisioning activated for your account & use the phone while roaming...very expensive.
