Can I swap sim cards between 2 phones on the same account?

I have an iPhone 5 AT&T still in contract and a second phone iPhone 4 out of contract.  I want to upgrade the 4 to a 5s and then swap the SIM cards between them.  I know Verizon lets you move the phone upgrades bewteen phones within the same account.  Does ATT?

I have an iPhone 4 ATT out of contract and upgraded to an iPhone 5s ATT. The iPhone 4 is still on iOS 6 and I'm leaving it there for testing purposes. I have been taking the SIM out of my 5s and putting it into my 4 (using adapter purchased on amazon). This has been working perfectly so far.
Note that both phones were purchased under the same contract. When I say the iPhone was "out of contract" I mean it had been more than two years so I was month to month at the time I upgraded to the 5s -- at which point I went to a 2 year contract again.
Hope this helps.

You don't actually swap the SIM card. For some reason, AT&T doesn't like you to do it that way.
    Go to:
    www.att.com/ipadlanding
edit payment information link...then update the following two fields:
    IMEI:
    ICCID:
You get this info from the iPad (1 or 2) select 'Settings' then 'General' then 'About'...
The IMEI and ICCID info is on that screen. No need to swap the SIM cards. This process outlined above transfers service instantly and does NOT change the plan type, billing, user info, or days remaining. Basically anytime an ATT customer wants to move a data plan the ATT iPad web page is all you need. No phone call!
It took me about 3 minutes and worked perfectly.

I have no idea what you mean by that. This is what you need:

Also, is your iPhone 3 carrier locked? If so, only a sim from the carrier your phone is locked to will work.

The CDMA iPhone 4 does not use a SIM at all. There is no SIM slot. It is a pure CDMA phone.

  • Sync 2 iphone 4s phone to the same account

what if sync 2 iphone 4s phone to the same account will the 2 be clones??

    Yes!
Luckily, if you be very careful and pay attention to what you have selected in itunes, you can separate these things
Basically, in iTunes, there are tabs at the top for Summary, info, apps, etc..
These tabs control PER DEVICE what syncs between itunes and the device.
Therefore, you can plug iPhone 4S #1 in, and select to sync contacts with address book, then do so.  Then plug iPhone 4S #2 in, and not choose to sync with address book.  iTunes will keep these settings separate. However, in that situation for music and apps, you would check to sync both on both, in order to get all music and apps on each.
The only thing to watch out for, each computer 'user' has only one set of address book and ical, meaning that if you want to sync both phones to the computer, but dont want to mix contacts, only one phone will be able to sync contacts and/or calendars.  Basically, each category in the Info tab will only hold one device's information, so you CAN do contacts with iPhone 4S #1, and calendars with #2.

  • Swapping sim cards between iPhone and a Sony

I have an iPhone 5c and my son has a Xperia M4 Aqua, they both have nano sim cards and are on thr same contract (monthly). Unfortunately, he doesnt like his Sony so I have offered us to swap phones. Can I just swap the cards over myself and he can start using the iPhone, or do I need to go to O2 shop for them to lock the sim to the specific phone? Many thanks. Mark

    Not true,
It goes from refundable to exchange only.
I was told in detail about this a few times as I refresh to newer handsets.
As the "speed up" fee is included as a end contract charge, under normal circumstances there is no issue, but as the charge terminates your old connection contract, there is no way to refund it and pin back on the remaining 7, 8,9 months etc, all they can play with is the new current 24 month plan.
Now they can edit it's tariff and the handset but can't refund it as there's no way to revert back.
So they should point out its an exchange only return policy giving you chance to change to a different phone or tariff within the 14 day period.
Get it back and point out your rights, before that 14 day expires!

  • Can I swap SIM cards

I've been using a 16GB iPhone 4 for months now. Tonight I bought a 32GB iPhone for my wife. I would like to have the 32GB and give my 16GB to my wife.
If I back my 16GB up and transfer all purchases, etc. Can I simply swap SIM cards, and then restore my data to the new 32GB phone?

If you're using the same iTunes account again you can use the same backup to restore your data and settings. You'll only have to put in the passwords for network and mail again, due to security reasons.
You 32GB will be recognized as a new phone and you can set it up different from the 16GB, if you want to. Backups will be separate from that point on as well.

  • Can I swap sim cards from an old iPhone 4 to another iPhone 4?

My current iPhone 4 is pretty beat up. My dad's, however, is in phenomenal condition. He actually just upgraded to the 4S and asked me to sell his 4 for him. What I want to do is sell mine and keep his. Is this just a matter of swapping sim cards?

Yes and no. Yes you can switch but the IEMI number is associated with the sim card and you will have some problems. I did this when I had to buy a new phone for my son. He had the 3GS and we just swapped the sim cards. Well his data wasn't working but a call to AT&T fixed the problem quickly after they changed the IEMI number in their system.

  • HT2534 How can i download from two different store with the same account?

I live in both countries but my credit card is registered in a french bank, therefore it is not recognised by the Aussie store on itunes. There are apps or music i want to get form the Aussie store as well as music and other apps from the french one...
Is it possible to have two stores under the same account????? I wish apple could fix this, which could result in more spending as you can buy from different store!

    Wait 90 days
Why would you start a new account?  Why not just correct the original account?

  • How can I separate 2 ipads which are on the same account?

I have an ipad and my husband also recently bought one.  Unfortunately my son set my husband's ipad up on the same account as mine so we now have exactly the same music and photos on both plus my Gmail account is sending the messages to both.  How can I separate these now but still carry on using the same laptop?

You will have to transfer the ringtones from the phone that has them to your iTunes library.
    File>Transfer Purchases.
Then you can sync them to the other phone.

  • Can I move a Sim card between phones - and a phone between carriers?

I have a Verizon iPhone 5C and am on the Verizon network. I recently was left (in a will sadly) an AT&T iPhone 6 Plus. I tried just replacing the AT&T sim card with the Verizon one, but a message shows up that it needs to be activated (so I'm moving it back to my iPhone 5C). I'm wondering if I take it to my Verizon store (I can take all the paperwork to prove it is mine) if they can/ will activate the sim card in this iPhone 6 plus or if it really won't work. I figured someone on here would have already tried or have done it already and know the steps to get it working if possible. Thanks!

Verizon will not activate a phone on their network that was not sold specifically for use on their network. If they have not rolled out VoLTE in your area, there would be no way it could physically work anyway.
Your best bet would be to sell the AT&T iPhone 6 and use the proceeds to buy a phone for Verizon if you intend to stick with Verizon.

  • Can I switch sim cards between 2 iPhone 4s?

My dad just bought a white iPhone 4 and he said he'd give it to me if I gave him my black one. Can this be done?

Yep, the SIM cards can be swapped without issue.
Keep in mind the SIM card only contains your AT&T subscriber information, and will only switch over the number associated with the phone.
Your Contacts, Apps, Music and all other content will not carry over with the SIM.
You can however restore the iPhones through iTunes and choose to restore from your respective backups to swap the info over.

  • Can I switch sim cards between activated iPhone 4 and activated iPhone 4S?

I have an iPhone 4 16Gb full of music.  I just received a new iPhone 4S which I've already activated.  I want to give my wife my iPhone 4 but I want to keep my telephone number.  Can I just swap the sim cards?  Are there any issues?

The first iPhone 4 was mine.  My wife doesn't have a phone at all.  It's on AT&T.  I've only had it for a few months and have upgraded it to IOS 5.  When the iPhone 4S came out, I decided I wanted one.  I decided to order a 4S for myself and give my wife my iPhone 4.  I received the 4S today and activated it with AT&T.  They are currently on separate plans, both on my account and at the end of the billing cycle I plan to put them on a "Family Plan".
Are there any other pertinent details that may have a bearing on whether I can swap the sims or not?  The goal is simply for me to keep the original phone number from the iPhone4 by switching it to the 4S.  If it's going to be any hassle at all, I'll just give my wife the 4 as is and tell my company my new phone number.  It's not that big a deal to me.
My ultimate goal is to ditch my land line and change my wife's iPhone number (whichever one it ends up being) to the number we currently have on the land line so she can keep getting calls from her friends, which amounts to 99% of the calls we get at on the land line.  I only get calls from her on my cell phone so changing my number is not a big deal.

  • Text/imessages sending between phones on the same plan when they aren't supposed to

Recently, the text/imessages between my mom, dad, and sisters phones have all been sending to eachother when there was no intention to.  I do not know where this problem originated we have not strayed from our normal functions with the phones.  Just tonight my sister texted me from her phone and it showed up under my father's phone number.  This only happens between our four phones which are all on the same plan. None of us have received any messages from anyone else in eachother's phones.  I can't find any support saying if it is an icloud problem or a problem through verizon.  If anyone has experienced anything like this and found a way to fix it any advice would be greatly appreciated.  It isn't a large inconvenience but it is very confusing for all of us.

This happens when multiple devices use the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To fix this you have two choices:
On all but one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (so they are all using a different Apple ID for iMessage).  Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On all of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".  Also uncheck any phone numbers listed that do not belong to the phone in question.
