Can I switch phones if I am not the account owner?
I am planning on switching phones short of when my contract ends because I am frustrated with my current phone. I am planning to buy a phone off of ebay, but I'm wondering if I will be able to activate the phone successfully (under the same account) even if i am not the account owner (my dad is)?
In addition to the information provided by mdram4x4, you can power the current device off, and then dial *228 send and then choose option 1 on the new device to activate it.

Owner status on POST PAID is not the same as PRE PAID.
on prepaid you can get any device you like.
But you pay upfront.
People on post paid get the advantage of reduced priced devices on contracts. Prepaid is no contracts.
Any carrier will function the same way. Go online and check out Verizon pre paid policy and then look at the other carriers.
Maybe prepaid from Walmart or Boost Mobile, or Cricket etc. would be best for you. Pay for all you can eat calling, texting and data for one low price. Say $45-$55 and buy the phones they offer.

kydd33 Good question! If you are looking to be removed from the family share plan, then the account owner would need to give you (or the person looking to take over your line ) permission. This is known as an Assumption of Liability (AOL). I am assuming that you want to keep your Verizon phone number and are looking to remain a Verizon Wireless customer. If so, the age requirement is atleast 18. Also, the current account has to have a current balance. If another VZW customer is taking your line over then their account would need to have a current balance, as well. To proceed, have the account owner call customer service and authorize that you can remove your line from their account. There is not a penalty or fee for the account owner.

Just got a new verizon phone. I had a virgin Mobile phone. I just want to port my number. The web site in no help. Called some number I found. Bad connection. I could not hear the lady and she dropped my call. Also, why am I not the account owner. I set this account up.
Are you porting your number over to VZW from Virgin on a new line or are you trying to do this on a line you've already established? As for establishing account credentials...call VZW @ 800-922-0204 and I'm sure once you verify who you are then they'll be able to at least help with that part...

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! How am I not the account owner??
Just got off the phone with customer service rep Chris, who was extremely unhelpful and got uppity with me when I would not give my full social.
Anyway, here's what happened. I recently assumed liability for a number from another account. Somehow, after confirming everything was correct with the assume liability customer rep, the person who's account I was assuming the liabilty of became the owner of my account. Huh?
So I get my bill in the mail and there is another persons name in the mailing address. So I promptly get on the phone with Chris, who after asking for the last 4 digits of my social and discussing the account issue with me puts me on hold. After coming back, he informs me he will need my entire social security number to continue. I tell him I am not comfortable with that and he proceeds to tell me that he will no longer be able to discuss the account with me because I am not the owner.
Well, this just enrages me. Somehow a minute before we were discussing the account, but after Chris does some digging he realizes he is not talking with the "owner", he changes his tune. So I then basically tell them they are in error and need to fix it. Chris continues to tell me since I am not the owner of the account he can no longer talk to me. So I then say, if I am not the owner, than I am not responsible to pay and will no longer be doing so. He then puts me on hold and comes back a few minutes later and tells me he fixed it with Credit Department and Fraud Pervention. I ask him how that was possible since I never gave my social and he has no answer for me. I then tell him I would like to speak to a manager and he says I cannot, but someone will call me back with 48 hrs.
So somehow without my permission, verizon changed my account. This violates their side of the terms of service or agreement(whatever). So I ask any verizon employees here and the community at large, what? how? why? Verizon needs to make this right. In their mission statement about customer service they say they are committed to providing the best customer service. What happened to me here is a direct contridiction to that and it is ridiculous that I even had to deal with it.
In the future if Verizon decides to change the owner of my account again, what am I supposed to do when the next boneheaded CS rep tells me I am not the owner? How do these CS reps have access to do these kinds of things without my permission? Why am I still with this company if they will violate their ToS, but somehow will still charge me if I don't want to have an account with them anymore? And how about the other party involved, that unbeknownst to them, they somehow became an account owner of an account they have no knowledge of. How do these things even happen?!
Verizon you messed up big time and I have all the docs and call logs I need to prove it.
I wonder what will happen first, that call from a manager within 48 hrs, or some rep responding here trying to tell me I did something wrong.ok... call them again, be nice and see if they can confirm any of the information the other rep gave you. It is entirely possible (and seems quite likely) that the other rep was just making stuff up due to being confused and feeling out of their depth. So call in again, see explain the situation and see what the next rep can do for you, if they seem a bit too confused then ask to speak to a supervisor and they should be able to get you connected while you're still on the phone (you may have to hold until one is available).

Hi, I have a Catalyst 6500 with X6K-SUP2-2ge, the IOS and bootlader image been wiped out, it starts in ROMmon SP modw and I can't switch to RP to start download the IOS using Xmodem, though Xmodem shouldn't work in ROMmon SP mode but the it's not gving the

I''m looking to format the PCMCIA using a PC and format it to FAT16 and copy the boot image into it and then try to load from the PCMCIA afterward if it works I'll format it using the Supervisor engine 2.

While in ROMMON can you do the 'dev' command and see whad drives are recognized. Then 'dir' the drives that the SUP recognizes.
Can you provide the screen captures as it boots?

First make sure both iPhones are using the lastest iOS 5.1.1. Secondly make sure all of your data is backed up in separate iCloud accounts one for each user. Make sure that you are all of the options in iCloud are on. Then you have to switch the sim cards.

You can use iTunes to restore or the iCloud option. I find that iCloud is much easier to setup but it requires wifi. -
I have head phones with the rubber ear buds. Where can I buy additional rubber ear buds; not the entire head phone? Because the rubber piece slips on and off easily, I have lost several of them.

When I make a call, I can hear the person on the other end but they can't hear me. It's not the mic bc face time or voice recorder are not affected. I can't even use my headphones or Bluetooth to get around the problem. This has stumped 2 geniuses, they just try to swap it out for $150.
I am having the same issue with my iPhone 4. I can hear everyone but they can't hear me. Visited Apple Store and they said speakers were out, both bottom mic and top one for speaker phone. Said they were busted. Reloaded all software and didn't work. Got in parking lot and worked for 1 call. Now it's out again. Wanted $150 for new phone, haven't done it yet. don't know what to do.

If you haven't already, you need to register your line's phone number for its own MyVerizon account online. This different and separate from the MyVerizon account associated with the account owner's line. You might need to sign out of the account owner MyVerizon account and clear the cookies and cache before you can register your line.
Once signed into your account, you can set up the ringback tones for your phone number. -

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You first need to sign into the account in iTunes on your laptop, then you need to transfer the content from your moms laptop and import it into iTunes on yours. You can do this in a number of ways, either over a network, with an external drive, or even a USB stick.
If you go to iTunes preferences > advanced on your moms laptop, it will tell you where the original files can be found. -

I Just synced my iPhone and lost all the info in notes I had on the phone. How do you have the info sync from phone to desktop and not the other way around as I usually make contact changes etc on my phone. I would then like to be able to sync that info from desktop to ipad thanks
It does make sense. The iPhone is a one-person device and just syncs to one computer.
The way it should work is as follows:
Old computer content ---> New computer
New computer <---> syncs to iPhone
But the way you are trying to operate sounds like:
Old computer content ---> iPhone
... and ...
New computer content <---> iPhone
So simply move your old stuff (either directly from iTunes, or from a computer backup) to the new computer, have it all there, then sync your iPhone to the new machine. -

Phone number of the device is assigned by the carrier.
