Can I switch sim cards between 2 iPhone 4s?

My dad just bought a white iPhone 4 and he said he'd give it to me if I gave him my black one. Can this be done?

Yep, the SIM cards can be swapped without issue.
Keep in mind the SIM card only contains your AT&T subscriber information, and will only switch over the number associated with the phone.
Your Contacts, Apps, Music and all other content will not carry over with the SIM.
You can however restore the iPhones through iTunes and choose to restore from your respective backups to swap the info over.

  • Can I switch sim cards between activated iPhone 4 and activated iPhone 4S?

I have an iPhone 4 16Gb full of music.  I just received a new iPhone 4S which I've already activated.  I want to give my wife my iPhone 4 but I want to keep my telephone number.  Can I just swap the sim cards?  Are there any issues?

The first iPhone 4 was mine.  My wife doesn't have a phone at all.  It's on AT&T.  I've only had it for a few months and have upgraded it to IOS 5.  When the iPhone 4S came out, I decided I wanted one.  I decided to order a 4S for myself and give my wife my iPhone 4.  I received the 4S today and activated it with AT&T.  They are currently on separate plans, both on my account and at the end of the billing cycle I plan to put them on a "Family Plan".
Are there any other pertinent details that may have a bearing on whether I can swap the sims or not?  The goal is simply for me to keep the original phone number from the iPhone4 by switching it to the 4S.  If it's going to be any hassle at all, I'll just give my wife the 4 as is and tell my company my new phone number.  It's not that big a deal to me.
My ultimate goal is to ditch my land line and change my wife's iPhone number (whichever one it ends up being) to the number we currently have on the land line so she can keep getting calls from her friends, which amounts to 99% of the calls we get at on the land line.  I only get calls from her on my cell phone so changing my number is not a big deal.

  • Switching sim cards between iphones

My 1st gen phone's home button is broken, such a pain in the @$$. My son is getting the new iphone today. Can I take the sim card from my broken phone and put it in his old 1st gen phone since he doesn't need it any more? Will itunes recognize it as my old phone and sync it properly?
    Thanks!

Yes, that is what I did when I moved from a 4 GB to an 8 GB.
When you sync it, it will ask if you want to activate as either a new phone or from a back up of the old phone. Just do the latter.

I have no idea what you mean by that. This is what you need:

Also, is your iPhone 3 carrier locked? If so, only a sim from the carrier your phone is locked to will work.

  • Can I swap sim cards between 2 phones on the same account?

I have an iPhone 5 AT&T still in contract and a second phone iPhone 4 out of contract.  I want to upgrade the 4 to a 5s and then swap the SIM cards between them.  I know Verizon lets you move the phone upgrades bewteen phones within the same account.  Does ATT?

I have an iPhone 4 ATT out of contract and upgraded to an iPhone 5s ATT. The iPhone 4 is still on iOS 6 and I'm leaving it there for testing purposes. I have been taking the SIM out of my 5s and putting it into my 4 (using adapter purchased on amazon). This has been working perfectly so far.
Note that both phones were purchased under the same contract. When I say the iPhone was "out of contract" I mean it had been more than two years so I was month to month at the time I upgraded to the 5s -- at which point I went to a 2 year contract again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I switch SIM cards with my wife's iPhone?

I purchased a 32GB iPhone 4 and would like to use it without a case.  But, and this just might be my imagination, when holding the iPhone, the edges of the back feel kind of sharp.  The glass sits just slightly lower than the edge and I would imagine that's why.  Just a cosmetic problem and nothing to get too riled up about at an Apple Store or to Apple Care.
I will likely be buying a second phone for my wife soon and it occurred to me that she will always have her phone in a case, so she could care less about the sharpness.
Is it possible to switch the SIM cards on our phones when she gets hers and I'll use the one without the sharp edge?  How is that physically done?  Do I just make a backup if it after hers is activated, switch the cards, and then restore both of them from the appropriate backup?  We have Mobile Me and share email, calendar, bookmarks, etc. So besides for the media we basically have the same phone except for the phone numbers.

Yes, as long as they are both iPhone 4's using the micro sim, switching the sim card should work fine. If you are having problems with that, you can always call AT&T

  • Can't *insert* SIM card in iPhone... stuck... ?!

A friend of mine has a new phone that I wanted to try out for a day or two.
I popped the SIM card out of my iPhone, it came out fine, just like normal.
But now when I try to re-insert the SIM card, the tray will go 95% of the way down and I simply can't press it down any more. There's some kind of mechanical obstruction on the side of the paperclip hole. The spring assembly seems stuck or broken. When I push a paperclip in, there's no action, it just hits a hard, immobile surface.
I have tried to use a flashlight to see what's going on, but the slot is too small for me to see anything meaningful. At least not when I don't know what I'm looking for.
    Please help! Thank you!

Just use this article to verify you have the SIM and card holder lined up correctly.

If you are lining it up correctly and the issue persists, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

  • Swapping sim cards between iPhone and a Sony

I have an iPhone 5c and my son has a Xperia M4 Aqua, they both have nano sim cards and are on thr same contract (monthly). Unfortunately, he doesnt like his Sony so I have offered us to swap phones. Can I just swap the cards over myself and he can start using the iPhone, or do I need to go to O2 shop for them to lock the sim to the specific phone? Many thanks. Mark

    Not true,
It goes from refundable to exchange only.
I was told in detail about this a few times as I refresh to newer handsets.
As the "speed up" fee is included as a end contract charge, under normal circumstances there is no issue, but as the charge terminates your old connection contract, there is no way to refund it and pin back on the remaining 7, 8,9 months etc, all they can play with is the new current 24 month plan.
Now they can edit it's tariff and the handset but can't refund it as there's no way to revert back.
So they should point out its an exchange only return policy giving you chance to change to a different phone or tariff within the 14 day period.
Get it back and point out your rights, before that 14 day expires!

  • Switching sim cards between my bf and I

He just brought the iPhone 3gs and he decided to give me his 3g iPhone so he said if I insert my sim card and I activate it on my iTunes then my sim card is going to get messed up so what should my bf and I do?

Call ATT, they need to put your # on his old sim and activate the new sim. I believe old card will not work on iPhones. Since if he ordered it online all he needs to do is call the att # and it automatically deactivate the old card and activate the new card which u don't want to happen.

The CDMA iPhone 4 does not use a SIM at all. There is no SIM slot. It is a pure CDMA phone.

  • Can I switch my go phone iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6 witch already has a SIM card that isn't in use?

Can I switch my go phone iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6 witch already has a SIM card that isn't in use? Or do I have to buy a whole new go phone SIM card to fit the iPhone 6

Only if the SIM is a gophone SIM. If it is not a gophone sim, it will not work on gophone system. Go to a corporate store and they will give you the proper SIM to use on gophone service.

  • Can you take SIM cards out of American iPhones and insert prepaid simcards? I'm in Australia

Can you take SIM cards out of American iphone4 to insert prepaid SIM cards? I did not realize there was a difference between American and Australian iPhones.

"How can I tell if it is officially unlocked? "'
Did you buy it from Apple as unlocked?
" I'm guessing I also have to disassemble the phone to get to the SIM card inside?"
    No.
You really should read the manual.  Just eject the card.

  • Have iPhone 3G, and husband getting 3Gs - want to switch SIM card

I bought an iPhone 3G last September, and my husband would like an iPhone as well. I'd love to have the new one because of the video feature.
If my husband gets the new iPhone, can we just switch SIM cards so I can just keep my phone number?
We're not looking to skimp on costs, or do anything funky, etc - I just want to be able to keep my phone number with the new phone.

We've done alot of SIM swapping in my family of 3G and 2G iphones without any problem.
Can't say for sure about 3Gs yet until I get mine this weekend.
