My Ipod touch is synced with my pc at work, I bought a new laptop for home, it shows up in itunes but i cant put music on it . Any ideas would be great. Thx

You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. However, you can manage music and videos among different computer. See

I'm having the same problem with Windows 7, iTunes has been spotty about recognizing my iPod Touch. Now that I've updates Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (June 2011), It won't complete a sync or a restore at all on either of my Windows 7 computers.
I have gone through every troubleshooter action recommended by Apple Support, and have not been able to improve the situation at all.
I took my Touch to the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store after trying and failing to complete a restore while troubleshooting, and it restored just fine from a Mac. Unfortunately, it now gives me an error meesage (Incompatible device) half way through an attempted sync, or iTunes simply freezes.
I even tried removing the Windows SP1, but that was a mess, as my display went all whacky and iTunes crashed immediately upon startup.
The Windows 7 OS ***** in general, particularly with compatibility issues, and not just for Apple products.
Does anyone know how to remedy this situation?
I'm so frustrated and have wasted so much time on this issue that I'm going to throw it all out the window!

Keep in mind that you can't drag and drop (transfer) songs from one iPod to another using iTunes either. The music you want to add from one iPod to the other, must be stored in your iTunes library first.

I have a MacBook Pro through my college, and I have all my iCal items on that computer, but I have all my music, apps, etc. on a PC desktop that is my personal home computer. I am wondering if I can sync my iPod touch with my MacBook for the iCal items and also with my PC for the music and such without loosing either of the two when trying to sync with the other computer?

I'm having trouble syncing my iPod touch with my new Macbook Air and I don't know what to do. I've managed to get all my music and films etc. off my old iTunes library but when I plug my iPod into the computer, it doesn't come up with the typical 'erase/replace or transfer' message that you get when you plug it into other computers. Someone please help because it is driving me insane. The iPod was originally synced with a Windows computer and I think this might be what is causing my problem but I really need help fixing it. I just wish I had not gone to iTunes 9.1 - anyway back? It crashes plus it won't sync my iPod Touch photos at all - none visible on my iPod Touch. Bad...
If anyway to reinstall iTunes 9.0.1 let me know!

NOTE: If you have not kept a copy of your iTunes Library from 9.0.1 before upgrading to 9.1, then the 9.0.1 version cannot open the 9.1 version of the library. (That's one problem with backing-up everyday!!)-- Fortunately I also keep a 1 month backup on yet another external HD. Not a bad thing to do! So I didn't get my full current library back, but most- and I now have iTunes 9.0.1 which has not crashed- YES!

Can't sync g2 ipod touch with new computer (windows7)

My original computer died and was unrepairable. I am trying to authorize my new computer (windows 7) to sync with my g2 ipod touch. I can sync apps, but it won't allow me to sync anything else - it keeps wanting to delete the contents of my ipod in order to sync.
When I plug my ipod into the computer, it won't read anything off of the ipod. What do I do?
I DO have a file with my music backed up on it on an external hd, but I can't seem to repopulate my library with it. I've tried dragging the folder onto the itunes folder (something that usually works with other files) but it's not doing anything.
I hope someone can help.
p.s. A g1 ipod shuffle that I plugged in worked fine. Computer asked me if I wanted to make this computer an authorized one, I answered the questions and it was done. No problems. My g2 ipod won't do the same thing.

With iTunes, syncing music, video and audiobooks is one way, computer-->iPod.
You need to move your iTunes library to the new computer from the old one, or use another method to get the data off the iPod.

Can't sync my iPod Touch with iTunes, get -50 error message

Does anybody know what -50 means? This pops up when I first plug it into my Mac, and all it says is "cannot be synced due to an unknown error (-50). First thing iTunes tries to do is backup my iPod, then that message turns up. I tried upgrading to the latest iPod software (2.2.1, I think), which didn't help; I'm running iTunes 8.0.2 (I think; that print is light and really small under "About iTunes").
I have not tried anything like restoring the iPod yet-I wanted to check first before doing anything, and the other thing that I noticed is that I can't restart my iPod by holding down the Home key (according to Apple's own support page). I never get the red slider. Any ideas on that?

OK, I wound up going to my local Genius Bar, and here's what we did:
1) reinstalled iTunes ...still didn't sync
2) repaired disk permissions...same thing
3) created a new user account on my MacBook and checked to see if my iPod touch would sync then...it did
4) went back to my user account, re-restored my iPod Touch and deleted the iPod backup file...and then it synced. At this point, it looked like it was a corrupted backup file.
When I got home and hooked it up to let it finish syncing, I realized that none of my photos had been transferred to my iPod touch, so I told it to...and the -50 error came up again. Another round of restoring the iPod and deleting the backup file, then I told it to load my photos from the My Pictures folder, rather than from iPhoto (which was the original setting before all this happened)...and it was fine. So my guess is that something in iPhoto 6 is tripping up the iTunes software (or vice versa) and screwing up the backup/sync process. I'll continue to keep an eye on it and see if that holds.

I have Windows XP and can't sync my Ipod Touch with itunes. Gives error 13019. I did all the recommendations recommended, including unchecking the sync and resyncing all the music, but it came up again. No voice memos or videos checked. Help! Please!

Again, I went through the "fixes" recommended, but none of them have worked. Please help! I can't get any of my new music that I just bought onto my Ipod! It fails at the last second with that 13019 error code even after removing all the music and re-syncing. Thanks.

Thank you, but I did that. I de-selected and then re-selected but because the 13019 still won't allow the sync, all it did was completely delete everything on my Ipod! I now have no songs on my Ipod when at least before, I had all my songs but the new 12 songs! I'm freaking!

Can't sync 2G iPod Touch with 8.1

Everything worked great last week. Now, when I try to sync, I receive a message "This ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes. then install the 64-bit version of iTunes." Did this. I have verified that it is the 64-bit version. No help at all. I have uninstalled twice and rebooted twice. Please help!

HT1329 How can I sync my iPod touch with a new laptop without losing apps, books, and music?

My new laptop is already authorized and I have all my music in the iTunes library. I just need to able to get all my apps on it and I need to be able to sync without anything being deleted. Please help.

Move or copy all the content from the old computer or the backup of the old computer to the new computer.

As I've already said to get this far: I have lost a lot of tracks while syncing my iPod Touch with iTunes. I have managed to get free downloads of some of the single tracks, but when I try to download entire albums the system informs me that I have already purchased them and a pop-up window informs me I can get them back from my "Purchased" file. I would not be trying to dowload them again if they were anywhere on the iPod, would I? The other problem seems to be that with single tracks I don't know before I hit the purchase button if I have picked it from the right album and I have had to pay for it again.
I feel that I have been totally ripped off by iTunes and, apart from ranting on this forum, I don't seem to be able to let my feelings known. It's like a guy from my local record store coming round and nicking my albums and telling me that it's tough!
The point here is folks, that it was syncing two Apple sites which caused the loss of these tracks and from what I've read elsewhere this is a regular fault. And please don't tell me that it's my fault for having a pc. Apple shouldn't sell a product for pc, when it doesn't work on pc!

- Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
- Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
