Can I sync my phone with two Macs?
Howdy,
I have a Mac at home and a Mac at work, both of which I keep sync'd with .Mac. I have a bluetooth adaptor on the Mac at home which I use to sync with my Sony Ericsson T637. If I put a bluetooth adaptor on the Mac at work, can I sync my phone with either Mac interchangeably? That is, if I sync my phone with my home Mac, then come to work and sync it with my work Mac, will iSync do the right thing? Will it realize that all the data is the same and not try to duplicate everything, even though it's syncing with a different computer?

It's not a good idea, because the complexity of such synchronization events. While ideally you should be able to attach your other devices to any workstation and synchronize at any time - if each workstation is, in fact, kept up-to-date through .Mac - in reality, such data exchanges are not reliable.
You are best advised to avoid any action which complicates an already relatively complex, limited and - at times - unstable and unreliable - technology. The best approach is to pick one workstation as a sort of 'synchronization server' to which all other devices are attached, either through USB, Bluetooth or, in the case of .Mac, wireless or terrestrial ethernet.

I have updated my iPhone 3Gs to the latest software in an attempt to iron out a problem with a new telephone network provider (Tmobile). I had backed up my phone before I did this. Now I have lost my music and apps. Working on that now. I'm just getting frustrated that everytime I run updates for the phone I end up with tech problems that I have to spend time solving as opposed to updates that actually improve my usage. Now I will once again get to spend hours reloading my phone all for updates that didn't affect my usage in the first place.

When I synced my phone with my mac, the music that I had in my phone got transferred to my mac. 140 songs to be exact, however I can no longer see the songs on my phone, only the purchased album I have appears. How can I get the songs I had back?
Connect your phone to computer, and sync like this. Check the boxes for the playlists, artists, albums you want to sync. Then click Apply. If you have enough space on your phone, you can choose Entire music library.

My Iphone was sync with Itunes on a computer then this computer broke down and i purchased another one. I was able to extract all the data from the old one. now how can i sync my phone with the new tunes without loosing any data?

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

I can not sync my phone with this Macbook Pro
I had a nasty suprise I paid out over £1500.00 to be told that I can not sync my phone with this Macbook Pro.
the reason for buying a Mac is that the windows 7 machine is in little bits so how do I sync that. there is no music on this Mac pro and if I try to sync my phone it wants to wipe my phone That is Pants!

Details are always best when seeking assistance, however. Try not to make others do the work for you. Take the time to do it yourself.
What model of Mac do you have?
What version of OSX are you using?
What version of iTunes are you using for syncing purposes?
What model of phone are you using and what software version is installed on it?
Try to better articulate the steps you are performing and the warnings that you are encountering.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it. -
The laptop I originally synch'd my iphone 4s with is broken and cannot retrieve any files. How can I sync the phone with a new laptop without losing all my downloaded music and apps already installed on my iphone?
If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

oh yes, on my iphone 4 (iTune Wi-Fi sync) and the mac book(iTune device Sync) they both in grey colour on the sync paragraph, its mean I can't enter them at all !! The both device on the same Wi-Fi network.

We have two iphones that are linked to one apple id. i have had to turn off cloud contact syncing as it was syncing both phones with all contacts
Syncing with my mac allows syncing with specifc contact groups, is this possible with cloud syncing?iCloud will not sync specific contact folders like iTunes. The only way to separate your contacts is to set up different iCloud accounts on both phones. If you want to do this, first decide which phone will be moving to the new account, then on the phone that will be moving, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone. After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The other phone will not be effected by this.) Next, set up a new iCloud account on this phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to this new account. At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other phone's contacts from your account, and vice versa). These changes will be reflected on each phone. When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them. -
I can not sync my iPhone with my Mac Book Pro
Hi, I have an iPhone 4 and a MacBook Pro. I am unable to sync the phone to the mac book. when I plug it in and ask it to sync it asks if I really want to sync, and that I will be replacing everything on my phone with what is on my Mac. This is NOT what I want.
I want to put everything on my phone on to the cloud (?) and onto my MacBook. I have important medschool voice memos that I CANNOT lose.
I registered the phone to another laptop about a year ago if that is any help?
really appreciate it... pulling my hair out!That may not be what you want, but it's what's going to happen if you sync it to your Mac. You are trying to sync media to your phone from an iTunes library other than the one it is set up to sync with.
Transfer the data from the computer you have been syncing with to the new one, then set up a new sync relationship. -

The short answer is yes, this approach is problematic and can result in severe data corruption on not only your mobile handset, but on both computers. The name of each computer is immaterial: iSync is not intended to support the use of a device as a 'data storage' go-between to equalize the contents of contact, calendaring and tasks records on two or more Macintosh desktop or portable computers.
Instead, you should synchronize multiple Macintosh computers using:
• .Mac Sync with a .Mac account
• MySync from MildMannered Industries (technology acquired by Mark/Space)
• the not-yet released SyncTogether from Mark/Space

How can i sync my phone with blank itunes account
Accidentally wiped my itunes a few weeks back (hey ho) so whilst I have nothing to loose I thought I'd take the opportuninty to move my itunes to my laptop.
Ive installed itunes onto laptop and know that I need to de-authorise itunes on my PC at some point.
How do I sync my iphone 4 (which still has stuff on) with empty itunes on laptop without losing everything off my phone?

802.1x phone with two MAC address

I have following scenario: Computers are connected behind phones, and phones are authenticating with MAB. The problem is with phones, because they have two mac addresses one is in voice vlan and another is in data vlan. Both phone and computer are authenticated successfully but when switch sees additional MAC address of phone in data vlan it shuts down port. Here is sample configuration:

authentication violation shutdown

spanning-tree portfastCan you verify if the phone's mac address is being learned on the data vlan and the voice vlan? Because cisco phones use cdp to discover if a voice vlan is configured on the switchport before forwarding traffic.
Please issue a show mac address table interface x/y after bouncing the port to see what is causing the port to error disable.
Also what version of code is running on the switch and phone?
