Can I tell what time an application was last opened?

I was wondering if this was possible at the shell command...is there a log at the UNIX level of what time the last apps were opened?
Thanks,

In addition to the standard creation and modification times, Mac OS X does record the last accessed time for a file. I don't know of any way to show this information in the Finder, but in the terminal you can run the ls command with the -u flag to show the last accessed time instead of the modified time. Running "ls -ul /Applications" will show you when the applications were last launched. You can pipe the results through grep to just show when Mail was last launched "ls -ul /Applications | grep Mail".

How can I find out what time a tab was opened in Safari?

As of Safari 5.1.7 there does not appear to be a way to view the time in the browser, but it is still possbile to find from the raw history file. Open /Users/[yourusername]/library/Safari/History.plist in a text editor. Depending on how your text editor reads the file, you may see a lot of garbled text, but you should still be able to find the URL that you want the time for. After the URL you may see the page's title, but should also see a left square bracket followed by numbers.
    Example:
    _?http://www.apple.com/_Apple[377832904.6o
The integer is an Apple timestamp (number of seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 2001). Find a timestamp calculator online to get the actual time for your timestamp. In the example above, Apple was visited on Dec 21 2012 at 17:35:04 PST.
    Cheers.

  • Finding out what time an application was used

I know that you can find out when an application was "Last Used/Opened", but is there a way to see all the recent times its been open? So say if I wanted to see if an application was opened in a certain period of time (like a certain hour), is that possible?

  • Can apple tell me here my phone was last seen online?

I have lost my Iphone, and I know they cannot find it right now. However, I was wondering if they could tell me where my phone was last known to be online? I do not believe it has moved from where I lost it, so if they could this would be a huge help!

    No.
You'd have to hire a lawyer; then the lawyer goes to a Superior Court Judge; lawyer "tries" to covince Judge to issue "Court Order" to force carrier to disclose your phone's location.
Not cheap, & not easy to get done.

  • Can Apple tell me where my phone was last? (Before going offline)

I lost my iPhone 4S last night. When I try going on iCloud.com, it tells me the device is offline. It most certainly has the app installed, as I've used it before, so I figured it just died. Is there anyway I (or Apple) can view the last location that it was when it was online?

    Sorry, no.

How can I tell what week my computer was manufactured? My serial number is [..snipped...]. Week 19 translates to what month?
    Thank you

Someone, somewhere could theoretically, trace your serial number to your name, address and maybe even how you paid for your computer. I recently had my identity cloned in Mexico. I wouldn’t think of posting any unnecessary information on any website. But that’s just me.

Yesterday I had the same problem with itunes: I downloaded the last version (it's free), but I cannot do the same with iphoto, and more important: I need to know what is happening!!! Please help me!

Applications should not disappear all by themselves.
If they are then that coud indicate serious problems with your hard drive.
Backup everything up as quickly as possible.
Using Disk Utility verify your system disk.

How can I tell what was purchased on a gift card?

    sussan-b,
Does the bar showing used space have a portion labeled "Other"?
Usually other is files that have been copied to the iPod directly, or space you have told the iPod to reserve for other files by enabling disk use.

  • Imac back from repair - how can I tell what tech did?

Got my imac out of repair today from CompUSA. The Apple tech wasn't there when I picked it up so I could't talk to him. Anyway, I am not sure what the tech did to my computer. Another worker said something about a "logic board" but that's it. Is there a way, in the logs somewhere for me to examine exactly what the tech replaced/repaired? If it was the logic board that was replaced then how can I tell? TIA

If your logicboard was replaced, your serial number will not appear when you go to "about this Mac" and then to System Profiler.
My serial number still appeared after each time I got the logic board replaced.
If the logic board was replaced, the number reported via software won't match the one stamped on the bottom of the iMac's leg.

  • How can I tell what app makes up the "usage"?

Under General Settings, you have the option to view usage. How can I tell what app is using that "usage"? It is not data, just time active.

Go to the AppleStore and download BatteryDoctor.
This will help you to see which apps take a lott of your battery level.

can anyone please help me out with this issue.
I want to find out how many times the application was accessed by a particular user, their session IDs for each of the applications in a particular workspace. I am using a role based authorization scheme for my application. I am using Oracle APEX 3.2 version. Are their any underlying APEX tables/Views to find out the above details.
    thanks,
