Can I tell who is connected?

Is there a way to see who is connected to my airport? Are there applications that break down information being transmitted?
Thanks
PW

I think the Airport Management Tools will assist you
in achieving what you are looking for. The can be
found here: http://www.apple.com/support/airport/
Towards the middle of the right hand side of the
page.
Happy Monitoring!
Hi, and thank you for the reply. I did the download of the Airport management tools. However it doesn't seem to work on my Intel Duo Mac-mini. Maybe there needs to be an update for it. In the mean time, I'll be looking for it.

Is there a quick way to see what other computers are connected via wireless to my Airport network? I don't want to access those computers, I just want to see who's connected. Thanks.

Yes. You can use the AirPort Utility to determine both wireless and DHCP clients connected to your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS).
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Advanced > Logging & SNMP > Logs and Statistics > Wireless Clients or DHCP Clients

  • Internet Sharing: How can I tell who's connected?

    Hello!
I have moved to a new apartment and have inherited a new and bothersome neighbor who likes to steal my internet.
I've tried changing the password on my router and on my network, changing my network name, not broadcasting SSID and enabling MAC address filtering, but whatever I do with my router, I can check my list of people on my network and there he is again. It's really getting annoying.
I've unplugged my router and plugged my modem directly into my eMac and have turned on internet sharing through my Airport. I've passworded and named that network so my iPod touch and my xbox 360 can still get online.
_When I was using my router, I could check to see who was online using my network, how do I do that now that I am using internet sharing?_
_What other measures can I enact_ to prevent this jerk of a neighbor from bogging down my network? He doesn't just log on, check his email and get off, he KILLS my internet speed downloading God only knows what! It *****. Please help!
    Thanks!
    Ashley

Hiding your SSID, using MAC address filtering does not protect you it can easily be circumvented.

This is also insecure as internet sharing using WEP security and this can be cracked.
To fix your problem setup your router ( i assume its a wireless router) to use WPA2 encryption with AES. Setup a password that is not a dictionary word and contains numbers, upper and lower case letters of 8 characters or more.

  • Can anybody tell me  how connect by level  works

    Hi ,
Can anybody tell me how connect by level works
    select level
    from dual
    connect by level <= 10 ;

    Yes, fully agreed, but still:
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:40476301944675#51121960168460
That might be an old example, but dual's behaviour changes often whenever a new database version gets shipped, like FAST DUALwas 'invented' for Optimizer since 10G.
Oh well, I know you know all that ;)
though of course any one row table could be usedTrue and interesting, but would you dare to replace all references to dual on a production system to another one row table?
Theoretically you're right, but imo (and others) Oracle keeps on doing stuff for dual 'under the hood'.
It is a totally different 'table'.
    That's my point to OP.
Maybe I was and am only nitpicking, I now realize, so I'll go get me some coffee ;)

  • How can I tell *who* is using a shared folder on my Mac?

I've searched high and low looking for a way to (1) get notified when someone connects to my Mac via AFP, and (2) see who is connected. Except for the System Preferences->Sharing panel, which will reveal how many users are connected, there's nothing I can find that will tell me anything about current AFP connections.
Perhaps there's a third-party utility that will do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

And that "Who is connected" looks real neat!
It is a bit of a letdown, actually. I just tried it, could only get it to show that there is someone connected, but not how many or who they are. And then I saw this right on their webpage itself:
    Known bugs and limitations:
    - Who Is Connected? doesn't do everything that it says on the tin (yet)...it doesn't list individual connections at a given point in time. Sorry, it almost does what it says on the tin, and it may well do one day, but not quite yet.
At this time, Who Is Connected? seems more useful for SSH than AFP. Well, unfortunately I never use SSH...
I got a little more out of Network Utility. It's more cryptic, you kind of have to know what all the code means, after clicking all the buttons I was able to locate something that said "afp" and identify the IP address of my other connected Mac but a lot of Mac users wouldn't even know to look for that.
I guess this problem is crying out for a solution that is truly Mac-like in its readability.

  • How can I check who is connected to my network?

    Hello,
can someone suggest me a tool or widget that allows me to verify who is connected to my private wireless network?
I am also looking for a tool or widget that warns me when a new user has entered the network.
    Thanks in advance
    Tom

If you use WPA then no unauthorised user will be able to connect to your network.
Depending on the age of your Mac, the Airport Management Tools will allow you to see who is connected to your wireless network.

  • How can you tell who has FaceTime?

My brother called me on FaceTime a couple of weeks ago. He said that he'd "opened FaceTime, saw you were on and figured I'd say hi." How could I tell who has FaceTime and who doesn't, and how someone who has it is "on"?
I have Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, as well as iPod Touch 6.1.5

Suddenly there are people sharing my library,
    How do you know?
but they do not show up under "Shared" on my side bar.
That shows libraries that others are sharing. It does not show who is connected to yours.
There's an AppleScript I saw somewhere to show who is connected to your shared iTunes library.

  • How can you tell who created an event on a shared calendar?

I allow delegates access to my "Office Calendar" and they have write rights. I'd like to be able to tell who created an event.
    Is that not possible?
I've looked all over the event in "Get Info" & the Inspector.
    Thanks

I don't think this is possible with iCal, but I know that is definitely possible with BusyCal.

  • Can you tell if someone connected into my blackberry and backed up all your data??

I am suspicious that someone at work somehow took all my emails and contacts off of my phone.  I know a number of coworkers who all use blackberry desktop software.
Is there a way I can tell if someone plugged my blackberry into their computer and somehow backed up all my information onto their computer?  Thanks
    -Kevin

Have you had the BlackBerry device out of your hands, out of your control, for 10-15 minutes?
Unless you inspect their PC for the backup file, no.
The only other possibility is examining your own device event log, I just did a backup, examined mine and I can't see anything that indicates a backup was made.
I gotta ask, why do you suspect this?

  • How can I see who is connected to my Airport Express? Airport utility does not provide it

    Dear community,
I'm highly surprised by the difficulties to find a simple request… I look on the web, and find some old topic about it, suggesting "Airport Management Tool" which is the old version of the Airport utility on my OSX 10.8.5, so I cannot install it. I have the lasted Airport utiity firmware and software (6.3.1).
I'm pretty sure Apple have a simple way to do it, without downloading any extra software.
Thank you for your time, I hope you can help me out.
    Best regards !

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utillty
Hold down the option key on your Mac while you double click on the icon of your Apple router
