Can I trade up to an iPhone 6 on a family plan?

I'm stuck on the iPhone 4 without an upgrade until next August, and the phone is barely functional at this point.  I'm on a family plan with both of my parents, and my mom says that I'm not eligible for the trade-in for the free iPhone 6 since it means I would have to sign my own contract. (I'm in college and obviously paying for my own phone bill is the last thing I want to do).  I've been trying to call to find out if she's right, but apparently Verizon phone service refuses to answer questions unless you can supply them with a billing password.  The phone is physically fine so I'd really like to be able to trade to a working model.  I'm not really sure how the plan works so I would really appreciate some information on this!

Unless mom or dad is eligible for an upgrade you can use theirs. Or you can explore Verizon Edge - Verizon Wireless

  • Getting iphone, Questions about Family Plan. NEED HELP!

So right  now I am on a family plan with my Dad and mother and we all have old phones that are basic basic. Our family plan has no Data plan at all, and in fact the plan is so old that it does not exist anymore. However I am moving away soon and I want to upgrade to an iphone. My question is this, If I upgrade, will I have to get my own plan? Or will I be able to just upgrade my phone and add the data charges just to my phone without making my parents upgrade their phones as well?
Any help will be awesome. I don't want to go into the store and talk to a sales person because they are motivated by commission so it would be in their best interest to upgrade all or them. So if I can go in there educated about the specifics of upgrading it would help.
    Thanks!!

Thanks to our forum member for the great information!
In addition, please note that you will most likely be able to keep your current calling plan when you upgrade your line to an iPhone 4; however, if the iPhone 4 is not compatible with your current calling plan you will be notified when you process your order online if you login to your My Verizon account and you will be presented with your new calling plan options.
If your calling plan is compatible with the iPhone 4, you will be able to simple upgrade to the iPhone 4 device and add the data plan to your line. This does not affect your parents calling plan in any way. You can also separate your line from the family calling plan and have an individual calling plan for your line and have your parents lines stay with their family share plan.
If you do not feel comfortable ordering your upgrade phone online or at a store, you can also order your upgrade from the comfort of your home if you dial 1-800-922-0204 to contact our customer service department.

  • Can i trade in my old iphone for a new one?

i have th 4s and i love it, but i really want to upgrade, but at the same time don't have the money to full out by a new one. a few people have told me that apple is going to start a 'trade in program' so i was wondering if that was just rumors or if it was truth. if it's the truth i definitely want in!

  • Buying iPhone w/ family plan on AT

I am under family plan with one other person with contract that is way over two years already. I can get new iPhone 4 for 200 dollar with contract renewal but before I that I have a question. Since I'm the only one that has iPhone and other person doesn't, if I get iPhone now can the other person get another iPhone at 200, making it two iPhone under the family plan? Of course I'm aware of new data charge. I have unlimited data right now and i want to get iPhone 4 now until 'new iphone' comes out in the future and have other person get the new iPhone when available and switch so that I use new iPhone. Let me know if this is possible

"if I get iPhone now can the other person get another iPhone at 200,"
If they are eligible for upgrade pricing, then yes.
If they are not, then no.

  • Family Plan: 2 iPhones - 1 Computer

I'm just about ready to buy my 2 iPhones (for me and my girlfriend), and I'm going for the family plan, plus unlimited texting for the both of us, which would be an additional $30, if I'm correct.
What I'm thinking about now is the activation. If it helps to answering my question, I own a 2nd generation Mid-end MacBook, my girlfriend a 1st generation iMac 17-inch. We don't live together.
Okay, now my question is how the activation of two iPhones work through the Family Plan using one computer (my MacBook). I'm guessing I plug in both iPhones to my USB ports, occupying the only two that's there, and I just go through the whole process like normal? But, the thing is, how does the second iPhone get activated? I mean, will activating one iPhone with a Family Plan detect the other one that I have plugged in? Or do I have to activate them individually?
    o_0
I'm sorry if I'm not making any sense. It's hard for me to explain. I'm want to get through this activation thing w/o any issues whatsoever so I can just go ahead and use them immediately. I really don't want to have to go back to the Apple store or AT&T to sort this out.
    Thanks in advance.

I think this is going to work OK, considering what I've read above. But if you'd indulge me so I could clarify my understanding of this.
I've had an iPhone for a couple of months now, and my son, who lives in another city, is getting his mom an iPhone for Mother's Day. I have the single-user AT&T plan, of course. If I understand the above correctly, in order to add the second iPhone to my account and change the account to a Family Plan, I would:
    • Dock the new iPhone to my computer, using my iTunes account.
    • At the appropriate prompt, select the option to add the new iPhone to an existing account.
    • Follow directions to convert that account to a Family Plan (according to whatever options I choose).
    • Let the iPhone activate, then check my AT&T Web page to make sure my wife's name appears as the primary user.
    Correct?
I'll also need to add the ability for her iPhone to make calls to The Philippines, but I assume I'll do that by later calling AT&T and requesting that service.

  • Two iPhone Family plan?

As an "early adaptor", I've had a new iPhone each year from day one and I plan to order the #4 next week. However, this time I'll be giving my wife my 3GS and bringing her over from Verizon, putting the 2 iPhones on a family plan. I've been to AT&T's website to learn how they work the Family Plan but as one would expect there is much fluff and little substantial information.
If you have experience with a 2 iPhone Family plan with AT&T could you let me know how they "share" minutes, text messaging and data? Any tricks or traps in getting the best deal?
    Thanks, denny

OK, so the minutes are shared, the data plans are separate (we could each use the lowest $15 one) and texting could be separate or shared. That is about what I had thought.
One last question just occurred to me: Since I'm eligible for the discounted iPhone 4, I'll get the lower cost. If I were to get my wife an iPhone 4 also, could she also get the lower price - all assuming a new 2 year contract of course. I'll give AT&T a call next week to learn for certain as they should have the newest information by then, but I was curious if anyone knew.
    Thanks, denny

  • Can I trade in my ipod touch 5th generation for an iphone 5c?

Can I trade in my ipod touch 5th generation for an iphone 5c?

Sure.  Sell the iPod, and trade that money and additional money for an iPhone 5c.
Unless you purchased the iPod from an Apple store within the last 14 days and you can return it to buy the iPhone.

  • Can i trade a iphone 6 for a 6 plus

I bought my daughter a iphone 6 when it came out but now she wants a six plus can we trade it in and pay a couple hundred bucks more or have to pay full price?

    No.
You may be able to sell your iPhone to someone or you could use this third party service:

  • Is the iPhone trade in promotion over? and can I trade in my phone in the store instead of sending it in?

is the iPhone trade in promotion over? and can I trade in my phone in the store instead of sending it in?

The trade in and getting new phone are 2 separate events.
You could trade in your iPhone for $200, but then you need a new phone.  Since you are still under contract, even though you just sent in your IP4, you cannot get a reduced price iPhone 6.  You would have to pay full price, minus the $200 from your trade in.
Bottom line, to do what your thinking, you need to have an upgrade available.
