Can I Tranfer music on ipod to new computer?

We just purchased a new laptop and I am trying to transfer our library from the ipod to the new computer. I can't figure out how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

My old laptop died. So I have a new one. I have 30 GB of music on my IPOD classic right now. But I want to transfer the music to my ITUNES library on my new laptop.
Is there a way to do this? There should be. I don't want to have to copy all my CDs to my new laptop. Why can't I just transfer the IPOD content to a new computer?

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.

Can't download music from iPod to new computer

Hello Friends,
My computer suddenly died and all I've got is an iPod loaded with music. Can anyone tell me how to download the music from the iPod to the computer? All I can find on Apple is how to do it with a working computer. Thanks.

Can't transfer music to ipod on new computer

I just bought a new powerbook G4 and I downloaded some music from itunes. After plugging in my ipod (which shows up fine in itunes) it wont' let me transfer music to my ipod. Is there a way to transfer the music without doing the "automatic update" because it sounds like that will wipe out all the music I currently have on the ipod?

Old Hard drive crashed, need to transfer music from iPod to new computer

Hello. My old hard drive crashed and I bought a new computer. Unfortunately I did not back up any files from my old computer and lost all files including iTunes music. All I have is the music from my iPod. I would like some help or if anyone knows anything about how to transfer the music from my iPod to my new computer. I guess my new computer is not the original authentic one in the itunes system and will not let me exchange music from my iPod to new computer. I would appreciate help if anyone has ideas. Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Just recently my computer died. This computer was the computer I used with my ipod. I got a new computer, but I don't know how to plug my ipod into it without it deleting all the music I have. I tend to lose/scratch/brake cds, which is why I love my ipod. the problem is that this means I can't find some of the music and only have it on my ipod. Is there anyway to put the music from my ipod onto my new computer, or can I never plug my ipod into a computer without the music being deleted?
I went to the FAQ pg about putting music from old computer onto a new one, but you need to have the old computer, and my old computer is completely dead. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you are trying to transfer the music on the iPod into iTunes on the computer - connect the iPod to your computer and launch iTunes. Can't get my music from ipod onto new computer?

So my iPod has been synced to our desktop, and I have bought some music from my ipod that is not on the desktop. But now i have a new computer and i want my music from my ipod, not the desktop, on the itunes on the new computer, but transfer purchases isn't working. So.. is there a way to transfer from the ipod on to the new itunes? Or can someone at the genius bar do that for me?

First of, in iTunes, select "Store" in the menu and authorize the computer.
Then, when your iPhone is connected right click on it and select "Transfer Purchases", this should move your content from your iPhone to your computer.

Cannot transwer new purchased music to ipod on new computer

We have a new computer that we cannot sync our new music purchased today to our ipod. We installed and syncd itunes 2 months ago when we got the computer, but I think this is the first time we have tried to purchase items on it. I say 'we' as this is my mom and dads issue.
They originally shared an apple ID. Apple ID 1 was linked to the ipod. Then they needed their own IDs so apple ID2 was created and the IPod was synced to it as that is the account inwhich new content would be purchased. Apple ID1 stayed the same. The new music we bought was on AppleID2. All music shows in previously purchased. It also shows under library/music. We cannot get the newly purchased music onto the IPod. We hit sync and it does not update the new music. I can not drag and drop it on the ipod or in the playlist which it is intended for. I deleted the music and downloaded it again and its still the same issue. i signed on to apple ID1 and still could not move the content on to the ipod.
IPod touch generation model MC086LL ios 4.2.1
I do not know what Itunes they are using but I assume its up to date on a 2 month old computer that didnt ask to be update upon load up.

You'll need to copy the music currently on your iPod to your new PC and into iTunes first before you can sync it to the new iPod.

It then says I am now authorized for 2 of 5 libraries. But I still can't seem to transfer the music. I am not using my original computer anymore. Any advice? Thanks.

I need help!!! I recently bought a new computer that has windows vista, and I do not have access to my old computer. I have tried following the online help but I cannot figure out how to transfer all of my music files from my nano to this new computer. I am only able to transfer my purchased songs.
