Can I transfer a library between profiles

I imported, tagged, labelled and sorted the photos up the wazooo .... but I want to consolidate user accounts now. How do I export the library in one account (with all metadata) so that I can put it into the other account's existing iPhoto library?

Hi Ian,
I am guessing on this as I have not done it, but it should work.
-Copy the iPhoto Library folder to the desktop of the other user. You will be asked to authenticate this action. You could also copy it to the other users Public folder.
-Now log in as the other user.
-You first need to do a "get info" on the iPhoto Library folder and change the Read/Write permissions to that user. Click the "apply to enclosed items" button at the bottom.
Now you need to download and pay for iPhoto Library Manager. This is the only program I know of that will merge libraries and keep the metadata intact. Read the documentation on the site about the merging of libraries.

this page will show you everything you can do with iPhoto Library Manager.

  • I have the computer with my itunes library on it but no longer have access to the email account the library was set up with. How can I transfer the library to a new appleid/email?

I have the computer that holds my itunes library. However, I no longer have access to the email account (and therefore apple account) it was set up with so can't sync/update etc. How can I transfer the library to my new apple id? Any help gratefully received as searched the internet but can't find the answer!
Have ipod touch 4th gen, ipod touch 5th gen and ipod nano 7th gen all to sync to library.

    Hi Stillme,
You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another. You need to go into the old Apple ID and change it to the new email address instead of using a new Apple ID altogether.
    Apple - My Apple ID
If you can't remember the password to the old ID, then click on Reset your Password, and answer the Security Questions. If you can't remember the Security Questions, contact iTunes Support and have them reset:
    APPLE ID SECURITY CONTACT NUMBERS
Once you get into your old account, Edit the Apple ID to your new email address. Before you will be able to do that you are going to have to change the email address on the new Apple ID to something else.

  • After the latest upgrade, I can't transfer my library audiobook cd's from my computer to my iPod so I can listen to the book. The book shows up on my computer, but not on my iPod.

After the last upgrade, I can't transfer my library audiobook cd's from my computer to my iPod so that I can listen to the book. It seems to be transferring but
doesn't show up on my iPod. How do I find the transferred files on my iPod Classic 60GB? Help! I've done this thousands of times before, and this is the 1st
time I've had a problem, so I'm suspecting the upgrade.

For non-purchased music like CD ripped songs, you need some third party software like sharepod, yamipod or iPod file manager to copy them from iPod back to computer. if you need details, here is a guide about how to copy iPod music. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • Can you transfer specified files between an imac & laptop

http://ChucF  Can You transfer specified files between a laptop & an imac?

    Sure.
    There are several possibilities.
You can connect the 2 with FW and start one as Target (keep T pressed during boot). You will see the second Mac as external HD and do the transfer with Finder.
Or you can connect the 2 on the same net with Gigabit Cable or WiFi and again use Finder.
If you need more control in transfer I found Tri-Backup usefull (www.tri-edre.com)

  • How can I transfer iTunes library to a new Apple ID?

I have a substantial quantity of music in iTunes on a old lap top. All the music has been put on to my iPod. None of it was purchased from iTunes but was uploaded from CD's. I have since moved from the UK to France with a new lap top and now have a new e-mail address. The old email address which is now defunct, was assigned to the iTunes account on the old laptop. I downloaded iTunes on to my new laptop and assigned a Frecnh email to it. I want to get rid of the old lap top, but need to transfer the library to the new Apple ID. I have tried to change my Apple ID on the old laptop to match the one I am currently using but do not appear to be able to do so as Apple will not permit me to used the email address assigned to the new account. Is there any way to transfer the library over?

    Hi MarseillanCyclist!

  • HT1589 how can i transfer my library to a new computer? old computer is not working

how can i transfer my i-tunes library to a new computer? my old computer is not working.

It has alwasy been very basic to always maintain a backup copy.  Have you failed to do this?  not good.
You would have to take the hard drive out of your old computer and connect it to your new and transfer the info.

  • Can't transfer iPhoto library to external drive

    Hi guys,
    Need some help here.
My hard disk ran out of space and I am trying to transfer all of my photos in iphoto library into my external hard drive, which I have been using for my PC.  I tried dragging the library icon to my external drive icon, but I kept getting the "block" sign and it simply would not allow me to transfer the library.
I've attached the screen shot of this to help you better understand what's going on.
    Can you PLEASE help?
    Thanks!

what format is the external drive? If you used it with a PC it is incorrect for iPhoto - iPhoto must be on a drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled)
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • Can I sync iphoto library between two Mac's?

I have two Macs (an iMac and a Macbook Pro) and want to sync the iPhoto (6.0.6) library between the two so whenever I change one the other is updated. I thought about using iDisk but my library is apx 5gb. I am new to Macs- is there a utility built into OSX 10.4.9 or hopefully some freeware or very-cheap ware... preferably automated. Thank you very much.

    brettjbyers
No you cannot sync an iPhoto library between two macs. If you do you will corrupt the iPhoto Library file. iPhoto is a consumer level app, and this feature is not supported.
What you can do is share the photos but not the library. Each machine will need to have it's own library file.
The easiest way to do it this is to enable sharing (in the iPhoto Preferences) on both machines (one sharing the library, the other looking for the share). When you do this the shared library will appear in the Source (or left-hand) pane and pics can be dragged from that to the library in the other machine.

  • Can you share a library between two non-networked PCs?

any help appreciated on this one!
I'd like to be able to keep my iTunes library on a portable hard drive.
which isn't too difficult to do - move the folder and consolidate.
then I'd like to take it with me between home and the office.
would playlists / play counts / ratings stay in sync on the external HD or is there no way to do this?
(i.e. would all the listening I'd done at work show up in the library when I plugged the disk in again at home?)
thanks in advance for your help.

If you want playlists, playcounts, rating and such to remain consistent and travel with the drive, drag the entire iTunes folder (the entire folder, not just the iTunes Music folder) to your desired location. Then on each system, connect the hard drive and hold down the Shift key while launching iTunes. You'll be given a dialog box where you can select the iTunes library you want to use. Navigate to and select the iTunes folder on the external drive.
Note: do not launch iTunes until the external drive is connected and mounted, or iTunes will automatically switch back to the default location on the internal drive. No big problem if it does, just quit iTunes and relaunch while holding down the Shift key.
    Regards.

Can I transfer my old library of music files from PC iTunes to Mac iTunes? The old library is not purchased from iTunes, just songs imported over the years before I had access to iTunes.

  • PC crashed!  Can I transfer my library from my iTouch to new pc?

Can't get our computer to turn back on and it has my whole iTunes library on it. I've downloaded iTunes on a new computer, but of course, not all my songs are on there. I can only transfer purchased songs to the new library, but I can't figure out how I can transfer songs from my iTouch that are from my cds.
Someone with Apple, please respond so I may know your suggestions are trustworthy.
    Thanks!!

The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from an iPod. Here are a few that are advertised as iPod Touch compatible that you can start your research with:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
