Can I transfer iPod music to iPad ? I no longer know my old iTunes username and password.

There is no way to transfer the music from one device to the other without using iTunes. Have you tried to recover your ID and password?

You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC. You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

Apps are always tied to the ID that was used to purchase them. If you bought the apps with old username and password, you have to continue to use them to update the apps.
If you changed the username because you got a new email address, sign out of your old ID in Settings>iTunes and App Store. Tap the old ID and sign out then sign in with the new/changed ID.

TS1368 itunes on my new alienware laptop acts as if the computer is not connected. (which it is) can not sign in with my itunes username and password. itunes help even pops up with "your computer is not connected to the internet"....

so in other words, I can NOT sign in on my account, much less authorize this laptop. can't even access help. have downloaded the latest itunes software, checked my firewall settings etc.... (the itunes help window even opens up with "itunes help is unavailable because your computer is not connected to the internet". granted I am basically computer illiterate, in other words if something isnt working my knowledge is pretty limited with tweaking things. There is no such thing as a "sub-account." Also, you probably mean iTunes library, when you say "account." Your "account" in iTunes is your Apple ID, which is what you use to sign in to the iTunes Store to make purchases. iPods are associated with an iTunes library, not with an Apple ID (iTunes Store account). You'll need to clarify...
So, this is what I think you are saying. You previously shared an iTunes library on a computer with your friend. Your old iPod was synced to that iTunes library.
You got an iPhone, and at that time, you set up your own iTunes library. Is that on a different computer? How does the iPhone affect your question about the iPod?
You got a new iPod. What is your "old iTunes"? Is that the iTunes library you shared with your friend?
