Can I turn a Kuler color pallete into pantones?

I need my work to be in pantones- the only way I see to do this is to match what I see on screen to my pantone swatch book...is there an easier way?
Thanks!

If you have Illustrator CS3 or CS4, you can do this quite easily. The video podcast linked to this article shows how:

    hi
How can I turn my french apple account into an Australian one , to be able to buy a Iphoto book I 've created ?

And you need to set the "Print Products Store" in the iPhoto Preferences "Advanced" to the country you are in. The credit card you will be using with your AppleID needs to be valid in the country your AppleID is registered to. Will you be staying permanently in Australia? Maybe it wuld be simpler to create a second AppleID just for the time of your stay there.

  • How can I turn my Mac using iTunes into an alarm clock?

Here's my question: How can I turn my Mac, using iTunes, into an alarm clock?
I want to be able to put my Mac to sleep but have it set up so that when it wakes up at the predetermined time iTunes will open and start playing the music I've selected....
    A "musical alarm clock"...
A friend suggested using the Energy Saver option in Sys. Preferences to wake the computer at the right time. He said that then I could use iCal to start iTunes. I would then have to use an Apple Script to get iTunes to play the song I want.
But is there a SIMPLER way to do this? Are there any programs out there that do this already??
    Thanks for any help....

I recently got a copy of AlarmClock Pro from MacWorld UK. It is shareware, I think it is (USD?)19. I haven't had a chance to try it out much, but it does look quite good. I have an older version. The latest version looks even better.
I'm sure there's plenty of freeware apps out there. You might also want to try looking here for an applescript here Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes

  • Kuler colors imported into AI way off

I created a color group on kuler. Saved and downloaded the .ase file. Imported into AI and the cmyk values are not remotely accurate. What gives? For now I write down the values and create my color groups from scratch. A waste of time but what can you do.

This happens because at this time, Kuler can't create CMYK swatches -- it can only create RGB colors. True, in Kuler itself, you can view CMYK colors, but when you save a Theme from kuler as an .ASE file, the swatches are converted to RGB. Then, when you open the swatch file in Illustrator, they are converted back to CMYK. So your colors are going through a conversion.
Until Kuler starts supporting the export of CMYK values, this will continue to be a problem. So web designers are cool with it. Print designers, not so much. sigh.

  • Can I turn a tool recorded artwork into a video?

I want to show a video turning into a drawing. Can I use the tool recording feature to change my photo into a drawing and than export that to video?

If I read this correctly, you want to make a screen cast of yourself working on an image in Photoshop, right?
You would need to use screen capture software like Adobe Captivate, Tech Smith's Camtasia or possibly Jing.

  • Can I turn a page of photos into a single graphic?

I've got a page of photos, drop shadows etc., a bit slow to load. I know I can turn all the photos (with their related text and drop shadows) into a single graphic. But what is the maximum size (k's) I need the graphic to be so that it will still load faster than all the separate elements?
    B.

Preview's PNG's are kinda large. Photoshop can make smaller PNG's but since PNG is not lossy, you can only affect the file size to a certain degree. I came across this site
    http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000810.html
Which mentions a utility called PNGOUT. (at the bottom of this page)
    http://advsys.net/ken/utils.htm
You may be able to further shrink your PNG's with that.
UPDATE: Just found this more graphic solution.

  • Can I turn my G4 and G5 into a TV?

Once upon a time, I think Gilligan's Island was in first runs, I owned an Apple Performa 638 CD. Came with 8mgs Ram. I splurged and upgraded to 12.
What was really cool about this pre-powermac was that had (or has, I still own it and let the kids mess around with old applications on it) a coaxial input in back. I could and did run a cable from my house cable (Comcast) right into Mr. PErforma and could watch TV in the corner of my monitor. Or expand to full screen.
Very cool. Meant I didn't have to have a TV in my office with my computer. Don't know why that didn't catch on. Goodness, I can plug everything else into my mac now. Why not a cable for TV watching>
Anyway, what is an easy and cheap device I can buy to watch some TV on my Imac G4? Maybe something that plugs into as usb port, then plugs a cable into the wall jack and has some kind of tuner?
    Thanks~! JON

    Hello DadOfSixJon,
Look here, read the detail with an eye towards what you want to do (type of TV reception you have and what you want to do with it):
    http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/home.en.html
I have two systems in the family, personally taking it off the old antenna in the attic (close-in Chicago area), and watch HD broadcast TV on 12 stations. And easily and flawlessly record programing with one click from the TitanTV online subscription that comes with the product. Sort of like a HD TIVO but w/out any subscription cost.
There are a few other choices out there, but IMO, none of them compare.
    Good Luck and have fun!

  • How can I turn a iPhoto slide show into a DVD to share with friends?

First time I have used this forum. Also, am new to Mac.
I went to a lot of trouble creating an iPhoto slideshow thinking I could make a DVD to mail to friends. I could do this easily on a PC with Adobe Photoshop.
    Thanks in advance.

Set the aspect ratio of the iPhoto slideshow to 4:3 for iDVD.   Export the slideshow to your Movies folder via the Export button at the bottom.
Select Medium or Large as the size.
Open iDVD, selecdt a theme and drag the QT movie file of the slideshow into the iDVD menu's window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How can I turn a Video TS folder into a video DVD?

My superdrive can burn a dual-layer DVD, and I understand iDVD can handle it.
(My Video TS folder is too large to fit on an ordinary DVD.)
But I can't figure out how to burn the Video TS onto the DVD +R DL so that I end up with a DVD that can be played in a DVD player, on TV.
I don't find any info in Help or in the forums, using relevant key words.
I have an older version of Toast that can handle dual layer, but got drive errors when trying to do it with Toast.
Any hints, advice or direction to any written help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

I only have a Video TS folder, no DVD. If it is possible for Video TS folders to be copy protected, then it's possible that could be the problem. Is there an easy way to find out? No error message referenced any protections.
I can play the Video TS folder with DVD Player on the Mac, but I suppose that would be possible whether or not the folder is copy protected.
I'm cleaning up a drive I "inherited," so I could live without this "virtual DVD" if it can't be transferred to a physical DVD disk. But it would be nice to know what's going wrong.
Do you understand the error messages, and do you think it means the folder is copy protected?
    ========
Wait a sec... I suppose one solution would be to copy the folder onto a dual layer data DVD (the folder is 6.3 gigs), and then it could still be played on the computer using DVD Player, it just couldn't be played in a normal DVD player for watching on TV (right?). That would clear up the space on the drive.
But alas, even that didn't work. I tried using the Finder to burn a copy of the folder to a dual layer DVD (as just a data DVD) and got this error: "Burning the disc failed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code 0x8002006E)"
This makes me think there's something going on besides possible copy protection... I AM able to make a copy of the folder right on the same hard drive (just tested it), so if some kind of copy protection existed, surely it would have prevented that. Since I'm able to copy it to the same drive, but not to a dual layer DVD, it must be a problem not of copy protection but somehow related to using the DVD +R DL (which my computer says my superdrive can handle). Think?

  • Can I turn a Time Machine backup into sparsebundle?

    Hi,
I have a NAS device, and the first back-up to it takes soo long. Unfortunately, the back-up format to a NAS device is a sparsebundle, to a directly connected drive it is backup. Can I connect my drive directly to my laptop, make the first back-up, then change the format to sparsebundle?

  • How can I turn an email attachment Document into a link I can Tweet

I would also like to post a link to the document in an internet based message board such as this one - (though not this one)
The Document I am referring to opens to my computer in the Microsoft Word Program.
I hope I have expressed myself clearly - I will by just as happy for a link to some instruction that tells me how to do it - although I realise that what I am seeking to do, maybe impossible.

Really none of this has anything to do with Thunderbird. Thunderbird did it's task and delivered the attachment to you. It is up to you to save your attachments where needed to make use of them. Then ask Twitter how to use their system.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
Additionally I have no idea what you are saying here

  • Turning color scene into B+W

Is there a difference between tinting something or desaturating? i'm trying to turn a color scene into b+w and i see this has the same effect, although i could be wrong of course. are there any better methods of making something b+w, perhaps through the channel mixer or something ?
    thanks

Or, download the Too Much too Soon Plugins from here
    http://www.mattias.nu/plugins/
and use the black & white filter. That way you can also easily turn down your blue channel (which often is the noisiest) for a really clean look.

  • Can automator turn thousands of samples into Apple Loops? (VSL rep/runs)

    Hello everyone,
First off, I'm familiar with how to build my own apple loops and find them to be VERY useful, especially in the application I'm about to describe. However, I find it quite tedious to build them manually, especially when dealing with thousands of samples. Thus I'm looking for the best/easist way to create apple loops, hopefully using Tigers "automator."
Heres my situation: I use/love VSL sample libs, which contain many articulations/phrases, but some of these are "tempo specific" such as the numerous instrument runs, repetition files, glissandos, crescendos, etc, and when doing a film score I cannot let tempo specific files dictate the tempo of the piece (the film does that). Thus I've started taking some of the VSL samples (especially the repetition and runs) and turning them into apple loops, which conform to the tempo of the piece. Within reason, the results are WONDERFUL allow me to continue to use these very realistic phrases at almost any tempo!
However, I've grown tired of manually converting these files to apple loops, and thus have only converted a handful of these phrases into apple loops. Whats worse is when I'm forced to stop the creative process to turn a phrase into an apple loop only to find that after all that time creating the loop, it doesnt work!
Is it possible to use Tigers automator to automatically convert .wav files into apple loops? This would be a great time saver, and would possibly allow for turning the thousands of samples into apple loops. Anyone currently doing this type of thing? Is it worth it in the end?
Thanks in advance for any help/tips you can provide.

    Hi Jonathan,
You can use Logic to create AIFFs of these files very quickly.
    Then, open them in ALU.
    Select all files.
    Change 1 field.
    Save.
You now have Apple Loops -- they will have a few few things automatically inserted such as guessed tempi -- they will almost always be set to 4/4 to the tempo closest to 120(?)... but they will load and many will load usably for your needs.
Now, I don't know exactly what you are facing with this concept but it sounds like a very big job and this will still leave much time hand tuning. If this is true, I recommend you have a look at Accelerando:
    http://www.eigentoneresearch.com/Accelerando.html
Accelerando contains several tools which will substantially decrease the tedium - and yes, it does use Automator. It works directly with Logic Pro, Apple Loops Utility - and more. Ultimately, you may be able to create workflows which handle this task with 1 gesture per Apple Loop - although a large library of workflows would be required to accomplish this to most users expectations so 2 or more gestures is more likely. of course, you can try to set up a more intelligent scheme if, say, the files can be filtered by an attribute such as their name.

my adobe illustrator is in a foreign language. how can i turn it into english?

First please remember this is a public forum.  If you are going to respond to the thread via e-mail please remove your signature prior to responding.
To resolve your difficulties you will need to go to the Language & Text preference pane.  Once there click on Edit List and remove all languages besides English.  You will then likely need to remove and reinstall the trial as the language setting I believe is set during the installation process.
