Can I turn of "Processing Album Artwork"

I don't have the slightest interest in Album Artwork. All I want out of I-tunes is to play a library or playlist. No artwork, no Ipod, no I-tunes store, etc. All I need is the playback function on my PC.
I just upgraded to the newest version out of curiosity.
I previously used version 4.9 and could load 16,000 songs into a library in 3 or 4 minutes.
This version insists on "processing album artwork", which is useless in my case.
I used the search function on this forum and found a supposed solution. I deleted the Album Art folder and highlighted everything in my library, right clicked, "got info", and chose to delete artwork.
I then reloaded the library and the application insists on processing album artwork again. It has so far taken 15 minutes and the library is less than half loaded.
I reload my entire library perhaps once a month.
Can this "feature" be defeated entirely? If not, I am going back to version 4.9, which works fine on Vista and does not go through this routine.

That choice is already unchecked.
I handle my library as I do because it is constantly changing. It would be very time consuming to manually enter new MP3 files as I rip them--or to delete old mp3 as I get rid of them. The quickest way for me to do this (4 minutes once a month) is to replace the entire library with my entire MP3 collection as it stands on that day, rather than add songs bit by bit during the month. I don't let I-Tunes control my library if I can help it. I need it for one purpose: playback on a PC.
I use it rather than other similar apps because I like the full screen interface.
What took 4 minutes with earlier versions now takes over a half hour.
The new version has no functionality I need that is not in version 4.9. The only reason I am even considering the current version is that 4.9 allegedly has security issues. I don't know yet how serious those are supposed to be, but I have never had any problems.

  • "Processing album artwork" - - - ARRRRRGHHHH!

Can someone please tell me how to turn this stupid feature OFF? Please don't tell me to uncheck the option to automatically download album art. It's never been on. Anytime I make a change to my songs, the itunes software spends a good 10 minutes cycling through every album cover while displaying "Processing Album Artwork. Getting X of Y". Whenever this is going on, my entire PC becomes completely unusable. iTunes robs every spare byte of memory it can get its electronic fingers into.
Google "itunes processing album artwork" & you'll see the 100's of users reporting this exact same issue, but no one seems to know a fix. Message board questions just go unanswered. Surely there's a needle setting somewhere in the haystack of options.
HELP! I'm ready to throw this thing through the window.

Nothing but problems. The only reason I need itunes is for my new itouch. For my other ipods I use Media Monkey - windows only. Apples doc are very poor and it seems that itunes is designed for only one thing and that is to make it easy to buy songs from the store, all the other features you find in winamp, media monkey, etc... seem to be missing or don't work right. I should be able stop album processing and gapless playback, but the check boxes do nothing. Very disappointed with this product.

  • I don't want it to "Process Album Artwork"

Every time I add audio to iTunes it says it's "Processing Album Artwork", and I don't want it to do this - there's not going to be anything in the file, and it's not going to be available on-line.
So how can I configure iTunes not to do this?

    iTunes prefs -> General.
    Uncheck *Automatically download missing artwork*.
there's not going to be anything in the file
There is no file unless iTunes finds artwork
*Processing Artwork* is iTunes reading the info for the tracks and then searching for the artwork.
and it's not going to be available on-line.
    Why not?
There's no harm in letting to look.

  • Why does iTunes spend ages processing album artwork for no apparent reason?

I have a 65,000+ files on assorted drives. I tag in another ap, so I don't use iTunes to get artwork. However, everytime I add files to my playlist it insists on "processing album artwork" for every file, even if there isn't any, or if the files are being re-added after being moved to a different drive. What is iTunes up to, & is there any way of disabling it?
On a related note, it would be really useful if iTunes could be set to search certain folders for altered, moved or deleted files & update the library automatically. Any chance this could be introduced in a future version?

No, it isn't! Maybe I should check it, then restart iTunes, uncheck it again & restart iTunes again. Might be worth a try.

  • Won't Process Album Artwork!

I entered the correct artists and album name, but it still won't process the artwork. The album is "Across the Universe (Music from the Motion Picture)" with the artists being "Various Artists"... It says artwork could not be found every time I try to get the artwork. Anyone know what's wrong?

+even though they are present in the iTunes store and correctly tagged in my library the same as in the store.+
That might not be a correct statement. If the itunes store has a blank space after the album name, you would not be able to see it. And from my past experience, that is enough for itunes not to fetch the artwork.
Also their underlying database can be wrong, even if it displays OK. A few years back, they had Led Zeppelin that would not fetch artwork until someone figured out to misspell it to Lead Zeppelin (they have since fixed that particular problem).
You can fiddle around seeing what they have done wrong, email them to report a problem, or just find artwork on the web and paste it in. The last option is certainly the quickest!

  • In iTunes I can't see my iPod album artwork...

I bought the new iPod nano two months ago, and it has always had this problem with my iTunes. I have selected the option for displaying album artwork in the bottom left corner, but even though I actually have album artwork assigned to songs (it is displayed on the actual iPod) it doesn't appear in iTunes. Does anyone know why this is or what I can do?

In iTunes in the bottom left corner of the program there are four buttons - "Create a Playlist", "Turn shuffle on or off", "Play playlist once, repeat playlist or repeat item" and next to those three (the far right) is a little icon that resembles an arrowhead in a box. If you click on that the artwork viewer will pop up, and you can either set it up so that it shows only the artwork of the song you are listening to, or the artwork of the song highlighted.

  • Why can I not delete old album artwork now?

I was in the process of cleaning up my music library by adding and correcting all the album artwork, and now with this new update and changes to iTunes, I can no longer delete the old album artwork. Is there a reason for this that I am unaware of, or just something Apple missed?

I don't what else you're experiencing with your Mac, but getting album artwork is neither difficult nor secretive. Yes, you need an iTunes account to use the feature, but you don't have to buy anything to use it.
To get album artwork for your entire library, go to the Advanced menu and choose "Get Album Artwork". To get artwork for specific songs or albums, select them in your library, then right-click (with a 2button mouse) or CTRL+click (with a 1button mouse) to bring up the context menu, and choose "Get Album Artwork".
You can also set your preference under the General Tab to "Automatically download missing artwork..." (iTunes>Preferences>General)
BTW, this all works pretty much the same under Windows...
Note that iTunes will not always find the artwork for an album or song, and will occasionally assign incorrect artwork to an album or song. In that case, you'll need to find the artwork and assign it yourself. There are several third party utilities available to help with this, just google "itunes artwork utility" or something...

  • HT1473 Can no longer see the album artwork I had added when I downloaded my cd. Help!

I havde lots of cds I downloaded to itunes. I added the album artwork manually. I decided to creat an additional library for my holiday cds. I followed the instructions, hit **** when itunes started, created a new library, then changed to that library. All was fine. I decided to download the Christmas albums later. I restarted Itunes and switched back to my original library when I have over 3000 abums and noticed that all of the albums I had downloaded no longer have the album art that I manually added. What happened and please someone tell me how I access the info. I really don't want to have to do it all over again, and will this happen if I change librarys again.
    Thanks

Connect your phone to computer, and sync like this. Check the boxes for the playlists, artists, albums you want to sync. Then click Apply. If you have enough space on your phone, you can choose Entire music library.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''

  • Can i delete all my album artwork?

I want to remove the album artwork from my ipod but i wan to leave the songs on the ipod. is there a way to remove justs the artwork from my ipod?

    OK, I hope you're sure!
I've written a script that will go through the playlist you specify (in your case you'd select the Library playlist) and remove ALL artwork from ALL tracks in the selected playlist.
NOTE: THIS ACTION IS NOT REVERSIBLE! YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF THE ARTWORK!!!!
The script was tested in iTunes 6.0.5; I imagine it will work with iTunes 7 but I'm not installing iTunes 7 to find out...
First, you'll have to install ActivePerl from here.
After you've installed ActivePerl, download this script and run it (just double-click it). If you want to test it out first, make a new playlist and put some tracks with artwork in the playlist. Then select your test playlist when you run it. After you run it, the artwork should be gone from the tracks.

  • How can I get rid of album artwork in lists?

I cannot view my song catalog by album or genre in iTunes 11 without artwork - images of albums, or, more often, a blank square witha treble clef. This makes scrolling through lists very difficult. Is there a way to shift to a simple text list?

Well, not sure - so exactly what resolution do you use to shoot? Go in your camera settings and check. And, is there a settings to choose for regular/extra/fine/superfine quality? I shoot at the highest quality - period. My size/resolution is either widescreen or larger than what I need for the movie. My TV is HD 720p - that means the screen will display 1200 x 720 pixels in HD; if you have a 1080p, it'd be 1920 x 1080. So shoot in a size a bit larger than that because they can be adjusted down without any quality loss, but can't be made larger without significant loss of quality.
But,again, the problem usually doesn't start until you add movement, but camera quality has something to do with it as well. I know that a previous camera I had was not as good and a lot of my slideshows/movies didn't come out as perfect as I would have liked. So I bought a more expensive camera - shoots in full 1080 HD and I haven't had a problem since.
As for exporting a slideshow: finish it in Photo to Movie and export to desktop at highest quality (will take a while). Here is a screenshot of my export settings:
Once done, you can simply choose that movie by going to "import movies" in iMovie and navigating to the location (I usually save to desktop - easy to find).

  • Can't drag and drop album artwork

I have been dragging artwork from Safari into the Artwork pane in iTunes for quite a while, but just recently I can no longer do it. Anyone else?

Yes,it's one of the bugs of the new version. But you can select all the songs of the album in the list, press -i , say yes to the warning, and drag the picture in the window that appears. This still works.

  • ITunes can't / wont get available album artwork

The album is available in the iTunes store and the CDDB spelling is perfect on the album but still I can't get artwork through Apple or iTunes. I particularly like getting it through iTunes as it's a very high resolution image and looks great on the iPhone 4 and fullscreen cover flow. I notice this happens to a few albums and it's pretty unexplainable.
    This has happened with:
    "Imelda May - Mayhem"
"O Emperor - Hither Thither" although recently the album art came through for this one.
Is there a release period for new albums (both above are fairly new albums).
Can Apple please look into this.

Yes,it's one of the bugs of the new version. But you can select all the songs of the album in the list, press -i , say yes to the warning, and drag the picture in the window that appears. This still works.

  • Can't Get Full Screen Album Artwork On My Computer Anymore When Playing Itunes

It worked until recently, then all of a sudden the full screen option was greyed out. Oddly enough, sometimes full screen comes up arbitrarily right after a video plays and it switches back to music but then disappears again if I close Itunes and then re-open it. Why did this disappear and can I get it back?

    - Try triple clicking the home button and unlocking the iPod and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there.
    - Last, pace the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
