Can I twirl down (and up) a group of folders?

Is there a way of selecting a bunch of folders in a column and then twirling all of them down but only one level in? Option+double click can open and close a group of folders and that would be more or less the idea but the windows are stacked on top of each other so it kind of defeats the purpose of being able to get to the files. Holding down option while attempting to twirl folders down opens up the clicked folder only and does it all the way down - to the deepest level; again not my goal
(I'd like to back up my iTunes library by batch zipping albums with Stuffit and for that I need to get into each artist folder - in case anyone wants to know what I'm trying to accomplish)

Nope. That doesn't work. Plus I'd rather use Stuffit - it will delete Mac specific files in the process (.DS_Store etc.) and move the original folders into Trash after compressing. So if only I could select all albums at once, the whole operation could pretty much happen unattended at night. I can of course open all artists folder manually and it looks like that's what I will have to do but it would be nice to find a way of making my life just a bit easier.

HELP! I can't shut down (and loads more)

So, for quite some time now, my Macbook Pro (Late 2011) running Mavericks has been acting very strangely. I have run Sophos and found no viruses.
It will run fine for maybe an hour, then safari might hang or Mail might. Sometimes I will try and open Mail and it'll crash immediately with no way of opening it. Just now, when trying to open iPhoto, it displays the message "unable to write to iPhoto library, check you have the right permissions". Basically, something goes wrong and applications stop working correctly.
If I look at the log, nothing has been written to it for some time, like half an hour.
I am unable to open any system preferences.
If I try and shut down the computer, the dialog box with "restart, shutdown, cancel" comes up, but does nothing when any is pressed. The only way to shut down is hold down the power button for some time.
When the computer starts back up, it's as if it's in the state that was an hour or maybe a day since before it crashed. For example, there will be a big gap in the browsing history and tabs I had open some hours before but had since closed down will be open.
I have reset the PRam a million times. I have done a completely fresh install and used migration assistant to bring stuff across, but it still carries on.
It seems as if there is something process that happens that half crashes the computer that stops anything be written to preferences but allows me to limp on for a while.
I don't really understand all the things written in the log in console, so I could really do with some help working out what the **** is going on.

Firefox is still running but does not show up in "task master" so it can be closed down and re-started?

1. Sometimes Firefox displays a message "Firefox is still running" but there is no evidence that this is true.
2. But, Firefox does not show up in "control-alternate-delete" to bring up Task Master in Windows 7.
3. There does not seem to be any means to stop Firefox and to re-start Firefox without a complete Re-start of the PC.
4. The mouse still works and the PC responds but there is no response from Firefox except the message "Firefox is still running..... etc.
5. How to stop Firefox, shutdown Firefox without a complete reboot/restart?

Way too complicated to solve the problem of "firefox is already running ....etc." and there must be a more simple solution to this problem which occurs once in awhile.
It seems to me that Mozilla developers can find a better solution and one that allows control-alternate-delete to fix the problem.
Otherwise, it is just resort to the old reboot solution.

Mo4: Layers window: any shortcut to twirl down (and/or up) all the layers in a group? Or layers in layers? The manual says arrow keys move from group to group,layer to layer and that works... also says that L & R keys open and close selected group/layer, my LR arrow keys don't do anything...

Slowing down and Speeding up

I'm trying to put the Free bird solo into Garageband so I can slow it down and practice it. My friend (who can never have enough speed with his techno) also wanted to put the Voodoo People remix (by Prodigy) into Garageband so he could speed it up. Are these things possible? I'm aware that you can "adjust the tempo", but this doesn't seem to change anything...Please help!

When i open programs as NetBeans my mac shuts down, and then i can't boot it

Okay so to be more precise, about 1-2 months ago my mac started to do weird things. Whenever i opened webcam or some other programs my mac shuts down, and then i would not be able to boot it up again, so i had to try to boot it in safe mode, resest NVRAM and all of that.
If i try to boot it up normally it starts fine with the apple logo, then its changing into a clean white/grey screen, and if i try to boot it up in safe mode it becomes blue.
The funny thing is if i keep to try to boot it, then it will eventually boot up, but still i can't use my programs for school (For an example NetBeans for my programming)
At first i thought it was my harddrive, so i bought a 120GB SSD Samsung EVO and installed Snow Leopard. But it still ****** up (Tried to update it to Maverick, still didn't do anything)
So i'm out of ideas of what to do.. Please help

There's a lot of PluginProcess and powerstats.
I even tried to filter with .crash and crash, but only 2 lines of something showed up when i tried "crash"

How can I delete a contact and an empty group from iPad 2?

I downloaded the iPad 2 User's Guide, but its instructions for deleting a contact do not work. I cannot scroll down and find a Delete button to click. Also, there is an untitled group on my iPad 2 (which is not on the iMac to which I sync the iPad 2). How can I deleted this annoying untitled group? The user's guide has nothing about groups in its index or under Contacts.

Oh dear. I Reset the iPad, and it made me set it up again, like I did when I first got it. When I got to the choice of "Set Up as New iPad" or "Restore from iTunes Backup," I chose "Restore from iTunes Backup." Then I tried to sync it with iTunes. iTunes gave me no error message, but the iPad is stuck on the screen that says, "Connect to iTunes," even though it IS connected to iTunes. Is this because I cannot connect to a wifi zone? I'm hardly ever in a wifi zone. I don't have access to one right now. Does this mean I can't use my iPad until I find a free wifi zone to connect to?

I can't order more than one picture at a time in iphoto. I am holding the command key down and highlighting two but only the last one is showing up

I need help placing an iphoto order online for prints. I have a few pictures I want in a few sizes and it seems to only allow me to select one at a time. I have held the command key down but it defaults to the last picture i selected. I appreciate your help.

What system and iPhoto versions are you using? As a quick test try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. See if you can get all of the selected photos in the order window as it should be.
If you can't then try this: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
