Can i uninstall itunes without losing my music?

What do you mean 'lose'....if you don't have iTunes, how will you access your purchased items?
iTunes app on your iPhone can't be deleted.

  • Can I uninstall iTunes without losing all my music?

When trying to sync my iPod touch with my computer, I'm encountering an error in iTunes that tells me that the "Software for the iPhone is not installed..." and that I need to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it.
That's all well and good, however both methods of backing up your music that are listed on Apple's support site have not worked for me. I can't get the CD's to burn and trying to copy the music over using the iPod itself was a total failure.
I've got iTunes on another computer and it recognizes the Touch just fine. It's the iTunes on the main computer with all the music that's giving me problems.
So, is there any way to uninstall, then reinstall, iTunes on my computer without losing the music?
Can I make a back up folder or something like that?

i had the same problem but it was fix
try to open the command prompt as administrator an write 'netsh winsock reset', sometimes don't work but lets try it

  • Can I uninstall iTunes without losing all my files?

I am trying to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and to do so it says I need to uninstall itunes...if I do so will I lose all my files downloaded through iTunes?

There's no reason it should cause you to lose your files. Your music is in your iTunes folder, separate from the iTunes app. However, it is always recommended that you have a back up of any files that are valuable to you. An iPod doesn't count as back up.
Good practice would dictate that you back up any files on your computer that you can't afford to lose before doing a major system update. You can back up your iTunes by dragging the +entire iTunes folder+ to an external drive. This will save everything, including your playlists.
    Best of luck.

  • Can I delete Itunes without losing my music

I am having so much trouble with itunes. I keep getting compatibility errors. Can I delete it and reinstall it? I already tried to repair it.

    I keep getting compatibility errors.
Could you give us the exact text of what those errors are, and when you are recieving them?
Can I delete it and reinstall it?
    Yes.
Go to START > Control Panel. In Add or Remove programs, find the listing "iTunes" and click "Remove".
If you are simply deleting the program like this, your iTunes library will still be safe and saved on your computer under a folder called "iTunes".

  • Can I uninstall Windows without losing my Word documents?

Can I uninstall WORD without losing my WORD documents?

You asked two different questions: one in the header and a different one in your message body.
The answer to both questions is "Yes", assuming your documents are stored somewhere like your documents folder, and you do a proper uninstall of either Word or Windows (meaning carefully remove only those pieces releated to the app).

  • How can I reinstall iTunes without losing tune content of my iPod

I had a major Windows system 32 problem and had to reformat my hard drive. (Computer was backed up before incident.)
Later, I got a message about a corrupt iTunes driver and found iPod and iTunes in recycle bin.
    Long story short:
I have installed updated iPod software and now need to re-install iTunes. I read somewhere how to re-install updated iTunes without losing what is already on my iPod...but I forget where I read it.
Of course, I DON'T WANT TO LOSE the content in my iPod.
My understanding is that, if I do nothing to prevent it, when I download iTunes and connect my iPod to the PC, I will lose all my iPod content because the new iTunes library will be empty.
How do I get iTunes back again, without losing my iPod tunes?
All suggestions and help very much appreciated!!

  • How can i transfer my ipod to my new itunes without losing all music

my computer crashed and now all i have is my cousins and i need to know how to convert my music onto her new itunes, hopefully without losing all my music. if thats possible, so there is no way i can go back to my old itunes, her computer is the only itunes i will be able to use. how can i transferr my ipod touch to her computer without losing all data???

    Welcome to the discussion,
Create a new user in windows to keep your iTunes library separate and log in. Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Can no longer download itunes music. Says all content will be lost. No longer on original computer. Is there any way I can download from itunes without losing content.

I can no longer download from itunes on ipod. It is not original computer and new computer message from itunes is I will lose all content on ipod if I continue to download. Is there anyway around this? Also have not updated ipod, is that important.

You can transfer you iTunes purchases to your new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. You can manage music amond different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
If you wnat to make the new computer your syncing computer you must restore the iPod.
    - See if you can make a backup of the iPod on the new computer by right clicking on the iPod in iTunes and select backup.  If successsful, restore the iPod from that backup after tansfering your iTunes purchases to the new computer.
    - If you can't make a backup copy/move the backup file from the old computer, That file is located:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You may have to turn off hide hidden files.
If you do not have the backup file you have to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync your stuff to the iPod.  You will loss all your app data.

  • How can I re-install iTunes without losing my music?

For some reason or another, I haven't been able to update iTunes for a long time now. I want to reinstall it but I am afraid I will lose all of my music.
How can I delete iTunes and still keep all my songs?
    Thanks
btw...I have iTunes currently on an external hard drive so it doesn't eat up space on the computer.

just go to the store and log into your home country's store again.
It happened to everyone's update I think. Just different countries.

  • Reinstall itunes without losing current music and apps content

I have moved some folders and now have some access/authorization issues in iTunes. I've tried to trouble shoot and still have problems doing things like converting WAV files to AAC files in some of my playlists; I get 'not authorized' error messages.  I thought it would be easier to delete and reinstall iTunes.  How can I safely remove iTunes and reinstall so that I keep all my ripped music, videos, and mobile apps? It's installed on an iMac with two users.

When uninstalling itunes, it shouldn't remove your songs at all, its all saved on your computer. But if you do lose your songs, follow through these:
Downloading past purchases from App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Can I uninstall beta without losing settings?

Can I uninstall 4.0 Beta 12 and reinstall 3.6 without losing my settings (bookmarks, add-ons, etc.)?

When you uninstall Firefox make sure that you '''do not''' select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data", this will then leave you Firefox user data intact (bookmarks, passwords, preferences, cookies etc). This data will then be used when you install another version of Firefox.

  • How can I uninstall yosemite without losing all my stuff?

I just installed Yosemite tonight and I've realized that I absolutely hate it. Not only does it look horrible, but my computer is super laggy, wont load anything but firefox, and for a while it completely locked me out of my computer. I need my computer for work and school so this is absolutely not acceptable. I really just want to go back to mavericks, however I don't have an external hard drive or have time machine. How can I go back to mavericks without losing all my stuff?

Unless your machine shipped with Mavericks or, if not, you saved a copy of the Mavericks install app, you're screwed. Without a bootable backup/clone or TM backup of your previously good Mavericks installation, there's no way to get from here to there; unless you know someone that kept the Mavericks installer.

  • How can I uninstall iTunes without Bonjour.msi?

As of about 2 months ago, I suddenly couldn't update iTunes. I'm getting a Bonjour.msi error that I cannot resolve. I've searched high and low for how to fix this and cannot seem to find anything that works. The issue with this stupid Bonjour error is that it ALSO prevents me from UN-Installing iTunes... so I can't even scrap it and start over. It's a vicious circle! I'm stuck with version 10.2.2.12 that I cannot upgrade nor uninstall.
    The exact error is:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Bonjour.msi' in the box below."
And then there's a path dropdown....
HELP!! I don't know what to do.  I think at this point, maybe it'd be easier to just completely uninstall iTunes and start over, as opposed to trying to find bounjour.msi and add it/update it...? I dunno.
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

If iTunes is installed, you'll be able to uninstall it using "Programs and Features" found in Control Panel

  • I deleted iTunes from my PC, is there any way i can sync my phone to a newly downloaded iTunes without losing my music that wasn't purchased from iTunes?

    BACK-STORY
I recently was given a new iPhone 4S from the Apple Store, I synced it to my PC when I got home and got everything back.I had to uninstall a download of windows 8.1 back to the original windows 8 in order to install an anti-virus software. The only way to uninstall Windows 8.1 is basically a factory reset, by doing so I lost everything that wasn't saved in cloud or external drive.I downloaded iTunes again, signed in and the only thing I could find was the music that I purchased from iTunes. I don't want to connect my phone to the iTunes I just downloaded, because I think I'm going to lose all the music that's already on there, minus the music I bought from iTunes. It's a lot of albums and it took me a while to collect them all too.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE HELP WITH PLEASE
Can I transfer the music on my phone to some type of storage?
    USB memory drive
Cloud ex. Skydrive, Google Drive, Dropbox etc
Store somewhere on my PC. (I know I can't sync from my iPhone to iTunes.)
If it is at all possible to store the music that's already on my iPhone using another method, such as the ones I've mentioned or haven't,can I then transfer it to iTunes?
If there is no way to save my iPhone's music library, then when I rebuild it is there a way to store it, that if the same thing was to happen I wouldn't have to go through this process?
Also, any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ALL!!

  • I have double IDs for Itunes.  How can I delete one without losing my music.  Also, I want to synce my new desktop computer with my older i4s.  All devices are registered to do so.  However, last time I tried I almost lost all music and Itunes BARELY supp

I have double ID's for Itunes.  How can I keep all my music and get rid of the ID that I do not want.  It was an issue when I tried to transfer music ..  I contacted Itunes and they BARELY helped me get the music back.  They also would only allow me to chose one ID to replenish the music (wich was lost) to my new device.  So, I chose the ID that showed more music.  I am irritated that I still have 2 ID's and can't really figure out why they both have the same music.   Oldest to newest purchases are shown on both id's.  Also, I am afraid to sync now because they told me it was a one time deal.  When docked my phone to my new computer all of the music is shown on my computer now.  However not on my I phone.

I had the same problem. I solved by (I use Windows7, should be same for OSX):
    1. copying the library from the older computer to the new computer, at the usual itunes media location.
    2. on new computer's itunes preference (advance), uncheck the box "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library"
    3. open up this folder of media copied over from old computer, just drag over to itunes library, cursor will turn into plus sign.
    4. since you unchecked the box for "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library", you are in effect only growring the new computer's itunes library's database. Your media files are already under the folder on the new computer.
Now when you connect iphone to this new computer and tells you it wants to erase your iphone's library in order to sync with this one, go ahead, click yes. Why is this ok now? Because you've copied all your files over to the new computer. So when you sync again, your existing files are there on the new computer.
You should export play lists on the older computer to be imported on the new computer though.
