Im using a iphone 3gs locked to O2-UK, I no longer live in UK can I unlock my iphone for free. It's no point of paying for it because it's an old one.

Since I have the bestbuy(canada) exclange plan, I can exchange my 3g 8Gb for 16gb 3gs since I paid $200 for the 3g. They will give me a brand new 3gs only if theres a problem with my iphone 3g, unfortunately thers none but I wouldnt mind to lie for a new iphone 3gs, I dont know waht to tell them. Help?

hm...I don't think the exchange policy covers accidental damage but if you bought it on May 11th why buy it then? If You would have known that Apple releases a new iphone every year around June then you would have waited. I usually tell my friends that too, if it's around January, I tell them to wait until June for the next generation is coming out and not to waste their money on the previous generation or the current generation.
As far as I can say, I can't do anything about it, but give them an explanation telling them your battery is messed up.

Unlocked old iPhone 3GS for use with pay as you go sim in the UK on vacation. O2 sim works while ph plugged in. Unplugged, works short time and crashes. Sometimes won't even re-boot. Software on phone up to date as far as 3GS goes.

I brought an old IPhone 3GS to the UK on vacation for use with sim card. I had the phone unlocked with approval and instructions from ATT. Store in the UK recommended O2 pay as you go sim which works as long as the phone remains plugged into the wall. Once unplugged, it will work for a short time and then always crashes. Sometimes it will re-boot and crash again and sometimes it will not re-boot at all. One store told me to sync with itunes which I did on my Mac Book. I don't know if the sim is defective or if the software of the 3GS is just not compatible with the sim when on the battery. I have updated the software on the phone as far as it will go. Any suggestions? Maybe the phone is too old to use with the latest pay as you go sim cards. I am disappointed that this phone has not been reliable as a pay as you go and I have had to purchase a UK phone here in order to have a reliable phone.

There is nothing you can do. You bought an illegally unlocked phone off Ebay. A lot of sellers there will tell you it is unlocked but the first time you try to update the operating system it will put the lock back on to the carrier the phone was originally locked to. Sorry but unless the carrier it was locked to will unlock the phone I am afraid you have a very expensive paper weight now. You should have bought it from a reputable dealer instead of ebay.

I think there is a problem with my Iphone 3GS. I got it as a gift just over a week ago (not sure if it has had previous owners or not) but since I've had it, it seems to have a problem with charging. Now and again when I plug it in to charge it will come up saying 'charging accessory not supported' or something along those lines but I am using the official charger that came with the phone. I have swapped wires and tried multiple chargers but they all seem to have this problem. The phone was on the latest IOS software when I received it too.
It happens on/off and it could be fine for a few days and suddenly it will start doing it again. The phone vibrates as if it is about to start charging but on the second vibration the messages comes up. When the phone reaches 100% charge this messages also occurs and I've asked other Iphone users who have said that it is just my phone that does this. Is there a problem with the phone and can I get it repaired for free? as I believe I have not done anything to cause the problem and it is a fault with the phone itself.
I was told the phone was only a couple of months old so I thought it would still be under warranty but different websites seem to say different things when I type in my serial number.

You can tell from the serial number that your phone was manufactured in the 16th week of 2010 (3rd through 5th digit) and the Apple warranty is 1 year from the date of initial activation. Note that the warranty follows the phone.
However, in your case with the SN you provided, your phone is a 16GB black 3GS locked to O2 in the UK and was originally sold in the UK and has as the most recent activation date 6/15/2012.

I suspect that you are having a problem with the dock connector in the phone not making a consistently good contact. As others have mentioned, make sure that your connector is clean (no lint) perhaps by using a soft tooth brush. Since you are using Apple chargers and cables and have swapped cables then if cleaning the port doesn't work it would appear that your only option is to have the charger port replaced. Now, I'm assuming that the phone was never opened to replace a screen, battery or other repair because if it was there would be the possibility that a connector is loose or bad.

Nope, Apple doesn't unlock iPhones. Only the original cellular provider can authorize unlocking. You need to contact them.

Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement. They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device. Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now. They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.

You will have to talk to the carrier who locked the devie orginally; ain't nothing in this world for free...devices are locked due to contracts. They sell you devices for a portion fo the retail price and need the contract to make their money back.
