Can I up-grade the graphics card for my computer I got for christmas?

Hello, this christmas i got an new hp envy rove 20 k214.
I am hoping that my desktop is upgradable as what i really wanted was a pc that i could use over 5-7 years especially as my current occupation goes through some technological shifts.
I been reading up on all in on pcs. I now know that not all
in one pcs are upgradable especially the graphics cards? Some of the pcs in the envy series however do have slots for mxm graphics/video cards and/or a replacable processor card.
So, i be asking, "Is it possible for me to upgrade my new computers graphics card? Will will I need to possibly exchange this pc for another one?"

Hi,
The CPU is soldered to the system board.

can one upgrade the graphic card in an Imac (intel based)?

While anything is theoretically possible, you would need to find another GPU that is compatible with your specific model iMac, and you would need to modify OS X to use a driver appropriate for whatever you propose to install. Future OS X updates would break it in short order. Not only that, you'd void whatever warranty that remains. It's not worth it.

  • Can i up grade my graphics card in my mac book pro

I have had my mac book pro for about 2 years and I have up graded to moutain lion but, I cant get air play to work.
Do i need a new graphics card?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
AirPlay Mirroring has nothing to do with the graphic card. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 AirPlay Mirroring requires an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, and your MacBook Pro isn't compatible.
However, instead of using AirPlay Mirroring, you can use a third-party application to mirror the MacBook Pro onto your Apple TV, as AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
Apart from that, on all portable Macs, Mac minis and old iMacs (Early 2009 and older ones), the graphic card is soldered onto the logic board, so it can't be replaced without having to replace the logic board

  • Can I get a better graphic card for my laptop?

Hi, my name is Mitchell and about a few years ago i got an Hp Pavilion G6 Notebook pc.  I use my laptops mostly for school work but now ive started to play games on it and ive noticed that I can play some games because the graphic card is not the best.  Instead of makeing a new gaming pc I wanted to just upgrade the graphic card on it?  Am I able to buy a graphic card for it and instal it?

    Hi,
What is your G6 ? G6 is a series of many models/laptops and normally we can't upgrade video card on 99.5% of them. Not just G6 series, other laptops from HP and other vendors as well. We can only upgrade video card on some REAL games and work station class machines.

You can go to other online suppliers of iTunes cards and buy from them and provide the redeem number to your Grand-Children - Look up in Google

  • How do I remove the graphics card of my computer from the blacklist?

I want to activate Adobe Flash Player hardware acceleration, but my card is blacklisted, and reproduces any other content without any instability, but she was put on the blacklist, and not is because, and not worked before in older versions, but with new versions already content. Work me for example in KMplayer as it should work. But not in Flash Player, and would like to activate hardware acceleration, since not being activated the system slows down and content is badly reproduced. The content becomes slow, and has low FPS, so it is apparently delayed.

    Hi there
In your Single Sourc Layout properties there is an option labeled "Show Navigation Link in Topics". You need to clear that option when you generate.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Best Graphics card for CS4?

So, I just installed CS4 on my Mac Pro Intel dual 2.66Ghz/4gb Ram/10.5.5/NVidia 7300.
I was wondering if there would be a significant difference if I would change the video card to a, say, NVidia GEForce 8800? What would be the areas that I would see a significant difference in performance?
Sorry by my ignorance, but I don't use any 3D graphics program or anything like that and never found a reason to change the graphics card on my computer up until now.
    Thanks in advance!

In the case of your circumstance not a whole lot but here is what you will gin as i have the same MacPro and changed to the 8800 card recently. I was able to open 8 Open GL documents with the 7300 card. That was not quite enough for me I needed about 12 to be opened sometimes.
the 8800 allows me to open 15 of the files that I generally work with during many retouching or composing projects.
THe features that you get are things like rotating the canvas and really cool feature that can make things more accurate save your wrist some wear and tear and the dynamic zoom feature also a time saver an the panning.
Might not sound like a lot but being able to resize the canvas in a smooth zooming in fashion and the stopping when you get to the exact right view is a big tie saver. It zooms in and out like a movie camera.
Rotating the canvas by dragging to any angle is very important to me for retouching.
those are the features i can think of that will impact your work flow.

  • Upgradeing the graphics card on the 3000 N100

I am wondering if its possible to upgrade the graphics card for my Lenovo 3000 N100. I play Eve Online and would like to be able to upgrade to there premium graphics package. Also, I was told that I should reload my OS about every 3 months on my laptop. Is this true? I run the windows vista that came with the laptop and have had no problems with it. If I need to do it I will. I just dont know if its true or not. And when it comes to computers, I am not the sharpest tool in the shed. Lol! Not even close to it. So any advice would be greatly welcomed. Thanks for your time and help.
    Solved!

Usually (95% I've met) notebooks are not upgradeable with videocard. You can replace CPU/memory/HDD and even some cards like WiFi&Bluetooth, but not video. This is due to different heatsink design in different models and also different vide module sizes, while CPUs/Memory/HDD have their standarts, which makes the replacement easier.
    Regarding OS:
Not a problem for me to reinstall an OS since I do it for others twice a week usually. So I have something to say here. While using a system it's getting filled with garbage. More applications you install - more garbage you have. Registry corrupts, temp files are collected... No need to reinstall until your system is completely unoperational.
    So.
You just have to clean temp folders from time to time (run %tmp% and %temp% to view your temp folders), check your system by CCleaner for garbage and corrupted registry and (if you want) use Ashampoo Uninstaller. This program is extremely helpfull. It analyses system before install and after. Makes a log. Then you just uninstall it by Ashampoo - all is wiped out. All registry keys (including those hidden for trial and shareware progs) and all files af that soft you uninstall. You keep your system as clean as it possible - like it's Windows's first run. Only onething worrying me - never tried it for Vista.

  • Updating Graphics Card for MacBook Pro

    Hello.
I have the most recent 13 inch: 2.5 GHz MacBook Pro.
The thing is, I absoutley hate the Intel HD 4000 Graphics card that comes with it.
The only game I play on my MacBook Pro is Battlefield 3, but the graphics card has a hard time trying to run the program
Other than the graphics card, all my computer specs meet the requirements to play the game.
    MY QUESTION IS
Is it possible to replace my graphics card with a Nvidia graphics card? Probably by opening up my laptop and putting it in.
I heard that this way was impossible, but I am not 100% sure.
And if that doesn't work, is there any way to get a newer graphics card? Probably externally through the bolt connection thing?
    Thank you

    Jon,
Like yourself I found that a customized PC is the way to go for PC games. For several years Apple sort of kept up with PC graphics ability making the Macbook Pros, Mac Pros, and some iMacs close enough to play recent demanding PC games.
The current trend of thinner and lighter for the Apple laptops has compromised the gaming capabilities to the point that I have switched to a PC Clevo P150HM for new games.  I play Skyrim on ultra settings. The best thing about these PCs is the initial customability and some upgrading ability later.
One big question I have about the trend to Retinal displays is how much more graphics ability is required to just maintain the existing level of performance.

  • It is possible to install a graphics card for the hp touchsmart iq504 series?

Hey folks I've had my pc for awhile now. According to the datasheet it saids that a graphics card can be upgraded but the power supply may need to also be upgraded check with the company of the graphics card. So i tried email hp but no answer on the question. Im thinking of trying to get either a ati radion 4270 512 mb card or nvida if its allowed. Mostly from online search through google many folks say its upgradeable but when gaming it acts more like a laptop their for performance is horrible. Is this true? I've tried to install games on my laptop that has a radion hd 4250 graphics card but gaming just doesnt add up the same as a desktop. So if anybody has some opinions or tips that could help me in area would gladly appreciate it.
    Thanks hp fan gmoney38

The graphics in the IQ5xx series can not be upgraded in the way you're thinking, the Touchsmart line does indeed resemble a laptop more than a desktop.
In general the opinion is that it is not worth persuing a graphics update for these products.

  • Best graphics card for the MAC Pro 4,1

I am using the 4870 card, but, is there a better graphics card for doing photography with Adobe CS5 Extended and Lightroom 3?
    Thank you.

While recently discontinued, you can probably get your hands on an nVidia GTX 285 fairly easily. It's not only faster than your Radeon HD4870, it has double the video memory, and more importantly it's on the shortlist of cards that are support hardware acceleration of the Mercury Playback Engine in Adobe CS5. That's a HUGE feature, if you use Premiere or After Effects, it's probably worth the price of admission right there. I've got one in my machine, works wonders. Aside from a zippy system, lots of basic stuff that used to have to be rendered in order to preview no longer require it.
The nVidia Quadro FX 4800 is also a bigger/faster card, and provides even more powerful support for the Mercury Playback Engine in CS5, but it's also vastly more expensive. As I type this the price is $1799 at Apple, and $1399 most everywhere else (Apple store managers, if you're seeing this you might want to check for a price drop).
That's the current max, but it's possible that new graphics cards are right around the corner. In the spring nVidia introduced their next generation of GPU, there are a range of new GTX 4xx series cards on the mainstream line, and just last week new Quadro cards were launched for the high end. Adobe does not support either of them for CS5's Mercury Playback Engine hardware acceleration at this moment, but Adobe employees have said that it's coming in an update soon.
It's also likely that the ATI Radeon HD 5770 & Radeon HD 5870 will be released for the Mac. My understanding is that the 5770 performance is on par with your HD 4870, and the 5870 will blow it away. Both the new ATI cards also boast two mini displayport plugs as well as a DVI out. Neither card is likely going to get support for hardware acceleration in CS5 anytime soon (not really Adobe's fault, ATI are still in their infancy on the high performance/OpenCL front compared to nVidia).
My advice, if you need something now, chase down a GTX 285 and you won't be disappointed (especially in CS5). Otherwise, you may want to wait it out and jump on the next generation if/when it becomes available.
    Hope that helps!
