Can I update Ipod Touch 4th generation  to the New Itunes?

Hi,
I am trying to put the new Itunes on my Ipod but the more I read, the more I think I may not be able to
based on it running IOS 6 and unable to run IOS 7.  Basically my main complaint with the version
of Itunes on my Ipod presently is the user interface, for as many of you know it has a bit of an issue
sorting artists albums chronologically without putting in the year of the recording in manually.  The new
version of Itunes seems to do this automatically based on what I am seeing on my laptop and Iphone
which are both running it.  But unfortunately my Ipod is stuck with the old Itunes app.  Or is it?  There
is obviously no update waiting for me in Itunes so please don't tell me to do that.  Any help would be appreciated.
Tom

Hi Ana,
Thanks for the help.  I probably should have been a bit more detailed in my post.  I would like
the Itunes app that is on my Iphone 5s now to be also available to me on my Ipod 4th generation.
I only included the info on the new Itunes on my laptop as it seems to be the same as my Iphone
in that it now (not previous to this new version) sorts albums chronologically automatically.
It also displays the year of the album in the listings which is also new and appreciated.  Now
if I could just get this on my Ipod....

  • I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1 and my Photos, Videos, contacts, music, App data, etc. was deleted. How can I all the data back?

I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1. I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on a Windows XP Home Edition with the Service Pack 3 installed on the Windows XP (which I believe is the latest version). After updating, I unplugged my iPod from the computer. I saw that all my photos and videos were on my iPod, but there were no apps. A window popped up and told me to enter a passcode for my iPod. I entered a passcode. I then locked my iPod and entered what I thought to be the correct passcode, but my iPod remained unlocked. Desperate, I tried many passcodes with failure. After a while, my iPod became disabled for a long time. I decided to reset my iPod. After I reseted it, I chose to reset from my earlier back up. After reseting, my computer loaded on all my apps. But, when I started using my iPod, I realized all my photos, videos, music, app data (like game saves and high scores), etc. were gone! I have no idea what to do and I am very stressed about this! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET ALL MY STUFF BACK!!!!!!

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

  • I have the ipod touch 4th generation and the screen is white, i was going to charge it and it turned white. I have tried to reset it but the apple logo will not show up and it will not turn on! i just got it for christmas... can you please help?

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. I hope this was helpful reply if you have any questions :) good luck

Apple doesn't do trade ins. You can get 10% off your next purchase for recycling your old iPod through Apple. You'd do better to erase your iPod and sell it on ebay, then use the money toward a new iPod. Hope this helps, good luck, Cheers.

  • Tried to update ipod Touch 4th Generation, Update Failed, iPod won't work

So less than twenty minutes ago I tried to update my iPod touch, knowing it had been asking this for a few days. The update failed, as as of now my iPod Touch is stuck on the picture of the iPod cable with an arrow pointing at the iTunes symbol. I've tried holding the two buttons to force it to shut off, it does- when I turn it on I get the apple logo so I know it turned on, only to get it again. When plugged into my computer, it is not recognized by anything. Going to Computer it doesn't see it as plugged in, and on iTunes nothing comes up with connected objects. This happened to me once in the past and I had to go to the Apple Store to have it fixed... can anyone tell me what to do so I don't have to go to them, or am I gonna have to take some time and drive over to have them take a look at it? Also, when removing my iPod from the computer, i get the sound that you get when you remove something from your computer, meaning it knows it's plugged in, just not reading it for some reason.
Thank you very much to anyone that can help!
If this is posted in the wrong area, this is my first loggin- sorry if I screwed up, mind telling me if I did?

iPod Touch 4G 32GB. I had same problem when I tried updating iOS; iTunes says restoring iPod, but after a while gives error 1603. I tried all suggestions from support: recovery mode, other USB ports, disconnect all other devices, uninstall and reinstall apple s/w and drivers, disable all other services using msconfig, confirm USB are 2.0, re-download updated software, reboot computer, name it! I finally installed iTunes on old Dell Inspiron P4 running XP, plugged iPod in it and device got recovered immediately! Put it back in Win7 computer and performed backup restore. Everything is back as it was. I have no idea what prevents s/w update on main computer. I realized I never get "waiting for iPod" message during attempt to restore, while I do on old Dell. I wonder what triggers this message.
