Can I upgrade CS3 Extended to CS5 or higher?

I am currently running CS3 Extended but would like to upgrade as high as I can with minimal cost. I work for a non-profit and budgetary requirements tie my hands greatly. I prefer NOT to go with CC but will if need be.

Your options are Photoshop CS6 and CC. CS5 is no longer sold. Are far as upgrade pricing coming from CS3, I doubt Adobe will give you a deal since is is so old.
Here is where to buy CS6: Creative Suite 6. It is $600 for the standard and $1000 for the extended version. CC you can buy for $120/year.

  • Can I upgrade to Master Collection CS5.5 without uninstalling Design Premium CS3

    Hi,
I work for a company that has offices worldwide, but do not have the budget to upgrade all licences which is why I need to keep InDesign/Illustrator CS3.
I wish to switch from Final Cut Express to Adobe Premier Pro/After Effects (I don't like the new Final Cut Pro X - for many reasons)

Absolutely. The upgrade won't touch the earlier version.
Make sure you buy the right upgrade. Here's a link to it on Amazon: http://amzn.to/oRnKh4

  • CS4- if I buy regular now, can I upgrade to extended?

Hi! Rookie PS user and aspiring young artist here. My parents are getting my photoshop as a gift but I dont know if I need everything in extended yet. If I buy regular can I upgrade to extended in the future? Thanks for your speedy replies.

judging by cs3, the answer is no. you won't be able to just "upgrade" cs4 to cs4 extended. it will require a seperate license.
however wolf is right, you'd be able to go from cs4 standard to cs5 ee when that's released.
not 100% sure on what chris says yet though. mr. nack said that there's a problem with the pricing and cd3 ee users SHOULD be able to upgrade to cs4 standard with no problems, but we've heard of at least one person here who's had trouble doing that. so either nack was wrong, or the word hadn't filtered down to the front line phone reps yet... time will tell on this one.

  • Upgrade from CS3 extended to CS5

Does anyone know if I am able to just upgrade to the regular CS5, rather then the extended version?  I found I'm not using the features and it's over $100.00 more to upgrade the extended version.
I'm in Australia and was hoping to buy from Amazon which is cheaper even with the exchange rate.  But maybe I need to go through Adobe Australasia.  Any advice?
    Thanks so much,
    Paulette

You need to work this out with support. Whoever you had on the line wasn't particularly well-informed it would seem. Platform swapping requires extra steps as laid out here. Once you fileld out the form, you receive a different serial and that will work then.

  • Can I upgrade Student and Teacher CS5 Extended with Lightroom

The above is the question. I am no longer a student (Coupon Code can be provided) but can I add Lightroom to my CS5 Extended? Children all have left College or Uni and home.

There are no students left in the house in fact the graphic artist is now in England and on his way in October to South America. Hence I will have to buy it for myself as CS5 is a little too complicated for a 74 year old like myself.
I assume that the $149.99 is either $ AUS or $ US. Perhaps you can tell me which and if a pension runs to it I will  buy Lightroom 5 as it seems more within my comprehension and considerably faster to do the things I need.  Many thanks for your prompt reply as I was more than agreeably surprised with same. I really am sincere about buying Lightroom5 for myself.
    Sincerely,
    Brian Gidley

  • How can I upgrade from CS4 to CS5/CS6?

Hi, I really need to upgrade my Adobe suite from CS4 to CS5 or higher. From reading in this forum you are unable to do it, but those posts were from 2012. Wondering if this is still current and if anyone can help me? Do I need to buy the entire suite again from scratch? Surely not?
I have a student version by the way.
    Thanks!

You cannot upgrade from Photoshop CS4.  Those days are long past.
While you can buy a full license for (the now outdated) Photoshop CS6, your most cost effective alternative may be to consider the Creative Cloud "Photographer's Bundle" subscription...

  • Can I upgrade CS3 to open Raw from Rebel T4i?

    Hello,
I have CS3 Photoshop and Bridge and I just bought a Canon T4i.  I can't open my CR2 files.  I've searched the forums and it looks like you need Raw 7.1 but I don't think that upgrade works with CS3.  Any suggestions on how I can still use CS3 and open my files?
    Thanks

If your camera is supported in a later version of Camera Raw that is not compatible with your version of Photoshop, then you can use the latest DNG converter (free download from Adobe) to create digital negative copies of your images.  These will contain all the raw image data.  The only disadvantage is that you won't have access to the vastly improved to raw processing that is available in the newer versions.

  • Can't Install CS3 Extended from the Installation CD

System: PC and Windows Vista Home Premium.
    Problem:
Due to a conflict with Album DS I had to uninstall and reinstall CS Extended. However, when trying to re-install CS3 Extended:
    Background/Attempts to fix:
    - I can not launch the installation process from the program CD.
    - Nor can I explore the CD. It appears as if there are NO files on it but it uses 721MB.
    - Installation has no problem initiating on an XP laptop.
    - I just installed Turbo tax on the Vista PC in the same drive so its not the drive.
    - Right clicking on the Rom Drive in Windows Explorer gets me as far as the installation start screen. BUT when I click on this install button I get Specified file not found
    HELP!

I spent over an hour with Adobe Support to no avail. Tried:
    - different,external Rom Drive
    - tried a SECOND install DVD I received from Adobe last(and first)
time I tried to install CS3
    - a "modified start up" installation (disabled a bunch of things),
    - installing under a new account
    None of this worked.
What DID work was to copy the content of the install DVD onto my laptop then to a flash drive then onto my Vista system drive and install from there. I didn't even have to re-enter my serial number for some reason.
I never resolved the issue but I am now using CS3 again. Ouch.

  • Can I upgrade CS3 to CS6?

I have CS3 already. Can I upgrade to CS6 (or any version for that matter that can edit HD footage), or would I have to buy it from scratch like a new customer?

Here is the link to buy the perpetual license (non-subscription) Creative Suite 6
When you click to buy (you are not committed to buying until you go to the shopping cart checkout) click to change from full to upgrade and find out what qualifies for an upgrade price

  • Can I upgrade from CS2 to CS5?

I purchased CS2 a few years ago and it worked great on my iBook PowerPC processor. Now I would like to upgrade just my Photoshop and InDesign software to the new CS5 versions because they will work better on my Macbook Pro with the Intel Processor without crashing like my CS2 does.
My question is, can I get the upgrades for those two or do I have to get the full version. $$$$ is an issue, one of the reasons why I haven't upgraded sooner.
    Thanks,
    Jen

No, you must buy the entire suite.
If all you need is those two you can get the Design Standard Suite for $694 with free shipping: http://amzn.to/c2Mmks but for about $80 more you can get Design Premium which gives you the extended version of Photoshop as well as Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash: http://amzn.to/dhYJWP

It's a run down on why I think DP is the best choice.
    Hope that helps,

Edit: I almost forgot to mention that CS2 is the earliest version eligible for upgrade to CS5. If that policy holds, you'll be out of the upgrade eligibility loop when CS6 ships (though it will be quite a while before that happens).

  • Upgrade CS4 Extended to CS5 Standard

Does anyone know if I can upgrade my CS4 extended version to the CS5 Standard?  I don't think I will use much of the Extended portion.  It talks about 3d capabilities, etc but I am a San Diego photographer and I don't need that stuff.
    Any pointers are appreciated.

  • Can't open CS3 files in CS5

    Hi guys
New laptop, newly purchased CS5.  I can't open Illustrator CS3 files - all I get is a message saying "An unknown problem has occured"...
InDesign CS5 is fine opening InDesign CS3 files though.  I'm running Lion by the way...
Anyone else got the same problem, and possibly a solution?
    Thanks

CS3 files open in CS5 so that should not be an issue.
If you have Acrobat pro, try using the open command on the .ai file, so we know if the pdf compatible part of the file has useful infomration for you, you could then do a save as using high qulaity settings and open, the .pdf in illustrator.
You may have a corrupt font or image on your system. Disconnect to the images, by putting them all in a folder so the link is temporarily broken. In regards to fonts, turn off any extra fonts, disable font auto activation, and delete any .LST files if you are on a mac.
On the mac if the filename has a "/"  the file will not open. But don't think hat is your problem as you would nto get the error you mentioned. But check your filename for illegal charcters noentheless.
