Can I upgrade from CS3 directly to CS5 or 5.5?

Or do I need to buy CS4?

Not sure which product you have (suite or standalone), but they all have different upgrade prices depending on which version you already own. You can upgrade directly from CS3 to CS5. It'll be more expensive than the CS4 to CS5 upgrade, but cheaper than upgrading to CS4 first, then to CS5. The last option would assume that you can even find a copy of CS4 to purchase.

Can I upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS5 after installing Lion?   Or should I have done it before installing Lion?

I think you are missing my point.
For the last many editions of the creative suite they have each been completely independent. There is no "going over a previous version. Each version stands on its own and is a clean install — as long as you haven't installed that specific version before.
And "obsolete" is a pretty relative term. With products as complex as the creative suite there are often features (or even whole applications) that change between versions. Many people I know keep earlier versions around, just for that very reason.

  • Upgrade from CS3 Win to CS5 Mac is possible?

    Quite a simple question:
Is it possible to make upgrade from CS3 Win to CS5 Mac?
If "yes", which are the steps I'll have to follow?
I would like to mention that I'll buy the upgrade software
in Romania, so I'll have to deal with a Romanian Adobe
    software distributor.
    Thank you!

  • Can't find this info anywhere... Can I upgrade from CS3 to CS5 or CS5.5?

After using Adobe products for years and years, it's not only my opinion but the opinion of many of my colleagues that CS upgrades are only worth it about every other upgrade. That might be a subjective opinion, but it does lead in to my question: Does anyone know if I can upgrade from CS3 to CS5 or CS5.5?? I can't find that info anywhere on Adobe's site.
    Thanks!

Does anyone know if I can upgrade from CS3 to CS5 or CS5.5??
The Adobe Buying Guide clearly states that the answer for CS3 to CS5.5 is yes.
Design Premium example (other Creative Suites are the same):

You won't be able to buy CS5 from Adobe (not that you'd have any reason to).

  • Can I upgrade from CS3 Design Premium to CS6 Design Standard?

I'm looking to upgrade my CS3 (and may need to as I'm upgrading my Mac OS X and not sure about compatibilty)... of course I know I can upgrade like for like, i.e. go from CS3 Design Premium to CS6 Design and Web Premium but I don't really need Dreamweaver and Flash so just wondering if I can upgrade to CS6 Design Standard?
Also, as I'm still relatively new to this arena and have never upgraded before... how does it work? Do I need to keep my CS3 software (i.e. disks) as well as the new software/disks? i.e. if for whatever reason I may need to re-install down the line...or can I get rid of the CS3 once I get the CS6?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do that. But you only have a few more weeks. You may want to look into Creative Cloud instead. You'll need the CS3 serial number to upgrade to CS6 but the CS3 apps do not necessarily need to be installed.

  • Can I upgrade from cs3 to cs6

Hi, I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, can I upgrade my Premiere Pro CS3 within this suite to CS6 on it's own or do I have to upgrade the entire suite?

Entire Suite... Adobe does not offer upgrades for any individual program in a suite, only the entire suite

  • Can I upgrade from the MAC version CS5 to the PC version CS6?

Hi all, I have a single marketing machine that is a MAC with CS5 suite.  We want to change over this MAC to a PC and I wanted to know if I can upgrade to the CS6 suite PC version.  I don't want the cloud because this laptop will not always have an internet connection.  So is it possible and what is the cost?
    Thanks!

You can make a platform switch. Otherwise you misunderstand how CC works. The programs still install locally and can be used offline if you don#t use any of the online features. They only require a check of your account every now and then to see if your subscription is still active.

  • Upgrade from CS3 extended to CS5

Does anyone know if I am able to just upgrade to the regular CS5, rather then the extended version?  I found I'm not using the features and it's over $100.00 more to upgrade the extended version.
I'm in Australia and was hoping to buy from Amazon which is cheaper even with the exchange rate.  But maybe I need to go through Adobe Australasia.  Any advice?
    Thanks so much,
    Paulette

You need to work this out with support. Whoever you had on the line wasn't particularly well-informed it would seem. Platform swapping requires extra steps as laid out here. Once you fileld out the form, you receive a different serial and that will work then.

  • Can I upgrade from CS4 extended to CS5

I dont use the extra features in CS4 extended, so it would be better value for me to upgrade to just CS5 - is this allowed?

    yes, of course you can...

  • Can't upgrade from Flash CS4 to CS5

I have Flash CS4 and bought an upgrade to CS5. When installing, it says: "can't find the qualifying product". I specify that the qualifying product is Flash CS4 Professional and write its serial number. It won't accept the serial number.

  • If I upgrade from CS3 premium to CS5.5 standard...

...what happens to my other programs such as Flash & Dreamweaver? Do I retain them as CS3 version or are they cannibalized? I don't do a lot of web work anymore, so I don't feel I need the CS5.5 Design Premium, but I'd like to retain the older versions of these programs in case I want to use them in the future.

The new version does not touch the old one. All of the old programs will stay there.

  • Upgrade from CS3 to CS5 on Mac

Our company just purchased CS5 and we were told that we should be able to upgrade from CS3 (we never got CS4). The box we received states it's an upgrade from CS4, but when we asked adobe, they said it should install. No such luck. Should we have received a different version or is there something we're supposed to do differently?

You most certainly should have. The upgrade from CS4 is (assuming Design Premium) is $200 less than the upgrade from CS2/CS3.
If you purchased directly from Adobe call them and get it straightend out.

  • Upgrading from CS3 to CS5.5 Design Premium??

Hi there, I work for a small print company and we are in the process of upgrading from CS3 to CS5.5 Design premium, the company has purchased a new Mac (runs Lion 10.7), our old Mac is on 10.4 and it has run CS2 upgrade, and a few years back we installed the CS3 upgrade. We have not installed any of the creative suite onto the new Mac and I am wondering can I just buy the CS5.5 upgrade and use the CS3 upgrade serial number when installing? Will this be enough?
Or do I need to go back to the initial Creative Suite that the company brought from scratch and enter that serial number?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Just have the serial number from CS3 handy when you install.
More good news for you. Starting today if you buy CS5.5 you get a free upgrade to CS6 when it ships.
