Can I upgrade internal Wi-Fi card on my Equium A200?

My Equium A220 has a Wi-Fi card based on a Realtek 8187b chipset and I'd like to upgrade it to one based on an Atheros chipset. Is the card upgradable? There is nothing in the specs to say whether it is minipci or built in in some way.
Would upgrading void my warranty?

Hi
I already have external cards I just thought if I could have a useful card in the laptop as well it would be handy. I do a lot of work with wireless networks and the rtl8187b chipset isn't well supported under linux, I'd rather have an atheros based card.
Looks like I'm stuck with the card I have unless I want to pay a lot of money for a Toshiba branded person do do what I could do with a screwdriver and a good diagram.
Thanks for your help.

  • Can I upgrade my laptop Graphic Card

I have a HP DV6 B1N18EA, its has the nividia geforce 630m 2 gb detecated, I need a better graphic card to upgrade it. So can anyone please tell me if i can

    Hi,
Basically you can, with a cost and I believe this cost may be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:
New card price,  and WHERE you can buy it because laptop cards are not the same as desktop cards. You can't buy from any normal shop,
Need new system board (may be),
Need new cooling system because generally speaking more powerfull card pumps out more heat (you want more powerfull card don't you?).
May need new PSU because your current PSU may not suitbale to the card. (I ordered a machine with Nvidia card and I needed to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal 65W charger. They simply rejected my order).
    Labor cost.
    Many, many packets of Asprin.
    Hope this helps.
    BH

  • Can I upgrade the graphics/video card?

I just bought my son a brand new HP Envy 17-j130us 17.3-Inch Touchsmart Laptop with Beats Audio from Amazon.com. Now, I love Intel, but can the graphics card be upgraded? He likes those real intensive games, and well, he's earned it.

No there is just no way to upgrade the graphics. That is true of almost all laptops. Are you still within the period to return it and buy something with better graphics?

  • Satellite A300-N20 (PSAGUE) - Can I upgrade 5in1 card reader?

    Hello
Is it possible to somehow "upgrade" 5 in 1 card reader in order to read Memory stick duo *PRO*, as for now this reader reads only memory stick duo (which is not in use any more with sony photo/cameras).
    Thanx

    Hello
The card reader on a notebook cant be upgraded. As far as I know its soldered on the mainboard and so its not possible to exchange it with another model.
So if you want to read cards they are not supported from the internal card reader you have to buy an external reader. I have also such an external card reader from Kingston. It was very cheap and can read all available cards.

  • Can I upgrade my Sony Laptop's Graphic Card?

My laptop is relatively new and I only bought it a few months ago, model #VPCEB. It currently has a 512 MB ATI Radeon HD 5470 which I want to upgrade so I can have StarCraft II run smoothly because it is kind of choppy right now. I just want to know, is there a way I can actually upgrade my computer and what would be a good graphics card?

It used to be that some laptops would come with 2-3 options of graphics chipsets, and you could swap between them, plus manufacturers might use the same form factor for a series of laptops (For example, all Dell Inspiron 8000 series units used the same card form factor - so you could upgrade an I8000 to the graphics chipset that came with the I8200).  This is no longer the case, even the highend gaming laptops don't have upgradeable graphics.

  • Hi,please suggest me some games for Compaq CQ62-105TU Laptop. Can I upgrade my laptop's graphics card

Hi,please suggest me some games for Compaq CQ62-105TU Laptop. Can I upgrade my laptop's graphics card

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the processor or graphics card on this laptop.
Here is a page from CPU-World that gives the specs for your processor:
    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bobcat/AMD-E%20Series%20E2-1800.html
You will see down near the bottom of the page that it is not upgradeable. Some laptops come with the processor soldered to the motherboard. Almost all laptop graphics are this way. The only way that you would be able to get a faster processor/better graphics for this laptop would be to purchase a brand new motherboard. You can do an Ebay search for 'HP G6 motherboard' to see what average prices are if you want to go this route.

  • Can I upgrade my processor and graphics card in my HP Pavilion g6-2244sa Notebook PC?

Hi I bought this laptop 2 years ago for gaming purposes and school work. I was told by the shop assistant that it can run most fo your big games such as Call Of Duty and FIFA. Well frankly i was lied to and this laptop struggles to even play the simplest game Minecraft a game about pixelated blocks that you destroy and place and this can't even run it I am very annoyed about this and seeing if i can upgrade the machine never crossed my mind until now. So i am asking to see if it would be possible to upgrade the Hardware of this machine mainly the processor and graphics card, here are the specs of my laptop:
Processor- AMD E2-1800 APU w/ Radeon HD graphics (2CPUs) (1.80)GHz
Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 7340G
    RAM - 8Gb
    Memory - 1Tb
Now I am wondering if this machine's processor and graphic's card can be upgraded and if so what would be the price of it and where would be the best place and if the cost is too much would i be better off buying a new machine?
If you need more specs reply with the ones you need and i'll get them for you thank you for the help!

Put this way if that system isn't costing you 2,000US or more then it will not play Call Of Duty and FIFA regardless of what the store sales person says. To play those games your laptop has to fall into the catgory called "Gaming Laptop" Specs and those come with cost and weight to show for it. Your laptop is only good at low games resolution and will not handle graphics intensive games. Those requires Gaming Laptop specs those cost money to be had. So if you still want to Game COD style you need to put down the cash for serious Game Laptop to perform under pressure. Forget about upgrading your current system what you want is a Serious Gaming Laptop if your going to play COD.

    Hi,
My macbook pro retina came with 128gb internal storage, but i got a gopro recently and the videos take up loads of storage! Can i upgrade the internal storgae or do i have to get an external hard drive to store it on?
    Thanks

But you will void your warranty if you still have one.
An external drive is a good, and cheaper option.

  • I KEEP GETTING POP UP ADVERTISEMENT AND I CAN NOT UPGRADE TO YOSEMITE X BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD

How can i upgrade free without going through Apple app store that ask for a credit card?  How do i stop the pop-ups that recently started after downloading a free coupon from the web? How do i get rid of this virus?

Barry: my mac is telling me to upgrade before i can use this software from thesafemac...but i can not without a credit card.  Is there a free upgrade for 10.6 without going thru apple store?
Since you're using 10.6, you can't use AdwareMedic, unfortunately. However, you could use the manual removal instructions in my Adware Removal Guide instead. They should help you find everything that AdwareMedic would.
I don't know that I would advise trying to upgrade from 10.6 all the way to 10.10 just to run AdwareMedic.

  • Can we upgrade the graphic card on macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012

I just bought my macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012. I am wondering can i upgrade the graphic card to NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete processor with up to 1GB of video memory?

Nope - you're stuck with the Intel 4000. If you wanted a higher-performance GPU, you should have bought a 15".
    Sorry,

ps i cant do any of take it apart my self and install it i just wan to know how much it will cost going through apple
    thanks

Why do people think they are postiing in a notebook forum when if you look around, this is clearly something else.
If you really want a new Mac you have to buy one. That is part of the fun of owning laptops, they are not upgradeable.

  • Can I upgrade my 27in Mid 2011 2.7GHz's graphics card?

Can I upgrade my 27in Mid 2011 AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB 2.7GHz's graphics card to a AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHz edition? If its possible that would be great. If any one can answer please do because i need to know.

You maybe able to have Apple techs install one of these GPUs.
    1 or 2 GB GDDR5 (Radeon HD 6970M)
Assuming Apple can still get the GPU, you can have them replace your current GPU, but the costs of the replacement will be out of your pocket.
It will be a few hundred Dollars to have them do the replacement.
AppleCare doesn't cover the costs of  upgrading/replacing existing/original components. Only free replacement and labor of existing hardware.
This is NOT something I recommend a novice or newbie Mac upgrader try as the newer aluminum iMacs are very details oriented and are tedious and finicky to work on and upgrade.
Lots of different fasteners, and small cables that can be damaged if one is not careful.
DIY work on a newer iMac is a task for even seasoned Mac hardware upgraders.
And if you do decide to try this on your own and you, inadvertently, "brick" your iMac, you'll be on your own.
You won't be able to have an Apple store repair what you have done . Apple will not be able to help you and repair the damage that could happen.
