That is a free update (not an upgrade) what happens when you try? How are you trying to update? did your Mac come with restore disks or did you download software form teh App Store? Have you logged onto the App store and checked purchased software for updates?

  • Can I upgrade my version of Mavericks without being forced into Yosemite

Can I upgrade my version of Mavericks without being forced into Yosemite ?
Apparently, Yosemite breaks iMovie HD (a.k.a. iMovie 06).   I am considering a new Macintosh with 10.9.1  I would like to go to 10.9.5.
    Thanks

Yes. You can run the Mac OS X 10.9.5 combo updater manually.

Plug your phone into your computer running iTunes. Click on the phone in the left pane of iTunes. Click the "Check for Updates" button on the right.
If you have a 3G, the highest you can go is 4.2.1.

  • Locked-out: "You can't upgrade this version of Mac OS X because a newer version is installed

Absolute rookie move. Bought a Mac Mini server (June 2012 model) on E-bay and it came with the previous owner's log-in account still on it. Tried to re-install 10.6 server software with the CDs that came with it but  got the message "You can't upgrade this version of Mac OS X because a newer version is installed". Any advice on how I can fix this? I'm hoping I didn't buy a brick that I can't do anything with.
    Any help is much appreciated.

What OS X software is installed on the box?  OS X, or OS X Server?
If it's a newer OS X version and you want OS X Server from the installer disks, wipe the disk and reinstall.
Officially, it's not likely that a recent Mac Mini Server would even officially support something as old as OS X Server 10.6; here's the list of the minimum versions (HT1159) — I don't see a June 2012 model, the closest to that acquisition date would probably be a mid-2011 Mac Mini or Mac Mini Server model, and those require OS X or OS X Server 10.7, or later.
OS X 10.7 also didn't usually arrive with DVD disks, so that may be an old DVD from some other box.

  • Can I upgrade from version 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 in order to access mobileme?

Can I upgrade from version Tiger 10.4.11 to  Leopard 10.5.8 in order to access mobileme?, If so, how would I accomplish this action? I have already created a web site using iweb which came with my I-Mac (3 or 4 years old), and noe need to publish it on mobileme.

If you machine meets the minimum for Snow Leopard (10.6.x) then it would be easier to buy that. If the machine is capable I'd recommend upgrading to Snow Leopard. It's going to be difficult  and more expensive to get Leopard. Here are the minimum spec's for Snow Leopard:
    General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMeservice; fees and terms apply.

  • "You can't upgrade this version of Mac OS X"

I have a 3 week old MacBook Pro 2.66 (4GB RAM) bought online with the Leopard 10.5.8 Operating System installed. I've tried to install Snow Leopard tonight and it gives me the message "You can't upgrade this version of Mac OS X." How can that be? I've tried the REPAIR DISK option and it says that my internal HDD is OK - in green. Yet I am unable to install the new OS. What gives?

    Jeff,
It is possible that you are "stuck in the middle." The build of Snow Leopard resident on the DVD may actually have been "solidified" prior to the build that came with your Mac. As a result, the Snow Leopard installer doesn't "recognize" what is currently running on your Mac. Put another way, it doesn't know how to go about upgrading that installation. Yours is the first case of this that I have seen, if that is indeed what is going on here.
Regardless of the cause, you do not have to "upgrade." You can simply erase what's currently on your Mac and install Snow Leopard. You'll want to have a good Time Machine backup first, of course, and I recommend you find a suitable external drive to do so, if you haven't already.
When you do have that backup, you can boot to the Snow Leopard installer, open Disk Utility to erase the internal hard drive, install Snow Leopard, then use the "Migration Assistant" to bring your user data and account(s) back into the new installation. You probably have not had much time to accumulate a bunch of third-party apps, so having to reinstall those should be no problem. Even if you have found some that you like, keep in mind that all of our user data and settings for those apps will already be back in place, along with your HOME folder(s).
If you need further instructions to complete any of the steps I have outlined, we'll be glad to help.

  • Can i upgrade to version edge without having to get a new phone?

can i upgrade to version edge without having to get a new phone?
i am currently running 4 iphones on my account. i want to only upgrade 2 out of the 4 phones. am i able to get all the phones on edge with only upgrading two of the 4 phones?

        Hello ernestleo!
I'd be happy to clarify. Verizon Edge is a payment plan for your phones, so you would need to upgrade to put any line on this plan. However, it is completely fine to only upgrade 2 phones with Edge, and leave the other lines alone for the time being. You can find out more about Edge here: http://vz.to/1hJFHzr .

  • Can I Upgrade from version 5 to the latest?

Can I upgrade from version 5 ..... want to install on new 64bit machine but have lost CD ..... what are the options.
Message title was edited by: Brett N

There is never an upgrade "patch" to change an old version to a new version.  Each version of PSE is an independent, full program installation.
    Your options are:
Find the best price you can for a "full" version of PSE10 and purchase and install that.
Wait a while until the new PSE11 is released and purchase and install that.

  • Can I upgrade iPad os 5.1.1 to os6 or os7?

I have an iPad 1 with os5.1.1 that was given to me by my daughter. Many of the apps that I try to download require os6.0 or greater . Can I upgrade to os6 or os7?

If you are encountering problems downloading Apps to an iPad1 (because they now require a newer version of iOS), you can try the following workaround to download and install older versions of the App...

  • How can I upgrade iPad 2?

I bought a used ipad2 yesterday and when connecting to my computer it says that I should upgrade to the new ios version. after several trials I gave it up. my system stops after a few minutes and says: an unexpected failure has occured. try it later again.
Is it possible to upgrade this old ipad 2 (from 2011) and if yes, how can I do that?

Have you tried upgrading via WiFi? Settings>General>Software Update. You have to be running iOS 5 on the iPad in order to have that in your settings. If you do not know what version you are running go to Settings>General>About>Version. If you are running iOS 4, you must use iTunes. your iPad can be upgraded all the way to the latest version which is iOS 8.1.3.
If you need to use iTunes, try disabling your antivirus software and your firewall when you attempt to update. I would also restart the iPad and the computer before trying again.
There have been some iPad 2 users reporting that updating to the latest iOS did not go well for them. I believe that it is still a small percentage of the overall number of iPad 2 users that had problems and I have nothing to base my belief on other than the fact that it if really was a world wide problem as some here in this forum would have you believe, it would have been world wide news.

  • I have upgraded Acrobat Standard from version 8 through time until I am currently using version X, which doesn't work with Office 2013.  Can I upgrade to version Standard XI?

Over the years I have upgraded Acrobat Standard from version 8 to currently working with version X.
However, since getting a new laptop it doesn't work with Office 2013.
Can I upgrade to Standard XI?

Upgrade pricing now only applies to version 9 and X. So if you have a retail serial number for X, you should be able to upgrade. (Or consider subscription).

  • Can't Upgrade iPad to 4.2

I have been notified that I can now upgrade my iPad. I have tried about 5 times. First, I get a message that says I have rentals on my iPad that I will lose, but I don't have any rentals. Then it spends an hour updating and when it is nearly done I get an error that says the upgrade didn't happen because it lost network connection (not on my end), error -3259.
Is this a known issue? I have no trouble synching the iPad, and I synched it before I started.
    Thanks.

I have had exactly the same experience, which happens only with the 4.2 installation file, but never with other iStore downloads.
The download reaches 100% and moves to "processing file" before terminating with this 'network timeout -3259' error message. Given that other actions with iStore complete successfully, I can only imagine it's related to the type of file, and I cannot find any Antivirus or Firewall settings to allow it thru because nobody at iStore support can tell me what's different about this file.
For the moment I've made an appointment at the local Apple store but am hoping for a solution that will allow me to cancel that!

  • Can u upgrade iPad so you can use it without wifi?

Can u upgrade a iPad 4 to be used without wifi?

As in using cellular?  You can't upgrade it without selling the one you have and buying a different one.
Another option for you, look into a device like a Mifi (that's just verizon's name for it)
It's a portable wifi hotspot that uses cellular data and you can connect your ipad to it.
