    Unfortunately, no you can't.
Just to be clear.  Your computer will support AirPlay it's just AirPlay Mirroring that requires newer hardware.

I am not sure if you are eligible to upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows to Adobe Acrobat IX Pro for Mac as this is an older version of Acrobat.

  • HT1338 Can I upgrade my Intel Xeon MAC PRO running OS X 10.4.11 to 10.5.8?

Can I upgrade my Intel Xeon MAC PRO running OS X 10.4.11 to 10.5.8?

Yes. You can actually upgrade it all the way to Lion should you so wish, although you would need to first purchase and install Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I would skip Leopard as it's more expensive and obsolete. You can purchase a Snow Leopard DVD at any Apple retailer - $29.00. You can update it by downloading Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. The use the App Store to purchase and download Lion should you choose to do so - $30.00.
I would consider expanding your RAM to at least 4 GBs or more especially if you decide to upgrade to Lion. Before upgrading see the following:
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
    E. If updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).

Since neil is recommending an upgrade to 10.6, you must have an intel processor.
    in that case, TenFourFoxIntel.

According to apple's licence agreement you can only install it on one machine. The 10.6 family pack which has 5 license is also available.

How can I view 2 pages on Ipad 3 with retina?

For viewing PDF I use PDF Pen. It's awesome though some consider the app pricey. PDF expert is another one.
Sometimes it depends on the book you are viewing. If its a PDF it will not show 2 pages that I am aware of.

No one seems to be hearing what Big Q is saying.
He can pair his iPhone to his Macbook, but cannot CONNECT. He's NOT asking for alternative solutions, like Wi Fi.
I am able to both pair and connect my one one Macbook to my other one, but I can only pair but not connect my iPhone or iPad to either Macbook. So I have the same problem. But I can pair and connect my Macbooks to other Bluetooth devices, like my ancient Nokia cellfone, or my Bluetooth HP printer.
It's irrelavent that I can instead use a direct USB cable or Wi Fi between my Macbooks and my iPhone/iPad - why can't I use Bluetooth? If Apple does not allow Bluetooth between it's Macbooks and other Mac devices, then why have Bluetooth at all? Does my iPhone have Bluetooth only so that I can pair and connect to my my non Apple mobile handsfree car kit, or communicate easily with the dreaded Apple enemy Samsung, or what?
Make no mistake , I am a diehard Apple fan, but this Bluetooth non compatibility issue appears shortsighted and seemingly pointless. Why does Apple not just say why they created the non compatibility, or have a message on the Bluetooth setup programme which simply and clearly says "don't bother wasting hours of your time trying to pair and connect your iPhone to your Macbook, because we don't allow that anymore, reason being that............"?
As a first time user of this Forum I am surprised at the intolerant and highhanded tone of some of the replies  to what is a legitimate question, that is obviously plagueing many, many other Apple users.

  • I bought a macbook pro a month ago and didnt know there was a better/newer model (macbook pro retina) - can I upgrade/take back my macbook and get the new one?

When they told me about it I just thought it had a better display and decided it didn't bother me if the resolution was better, not knowing that it was thinner, has a HDMI connection, etc.
I bought my macbook pro 13 inch exactly a month ago tomorrow. If I go back and tell them this will I be able to upgrade my laptop? I paid more than $1300 or something for this one, I'd be willing to pay up to the price of the retina model, do you think I'd be able to do this?

If your non retina MBP has a dvd slot and a large capacity conventional hard drive, you might find the retina model would have been less convenient with lower capacity SSD and no DVD.
On the other hand, the MacBook Pro with Retina display has got a much faster drive and you can get an external DVD drive (not everybody needs a DVD drive)
Absolutely, like I say personal Choice.  I believe from remarks in here that the SSD boots up on Mavericks in something like 10 seconds whereas mine takes even longer to boot than in Mountain Lion. But then we are advised to use sleep over boot as much as possible.  My problem is I have 300GB of stuff and getting bigger, and when I bought mine the biggest SSD was 250 I think. For me the choice of replaceable RAM vs soldered-in RAM was a clincher.

  • I have 10.5.8 what can I upgrade to on my MacBook Pro?

I have 10.5.8 what can I upgrade my system to on my MacBook Pro? Thanks for your help.
    Lone Ranger

Snow Leopard needs Intel processor, 1 GB RAM.
Lion needs Core2Duo or better Intel processor, 2 GB RAM.
This is my "About This Mac" saying I have i7 series Intel and 8 GB RAM, so I could run Mountain Lion:

  • WHICH ONE IS BETTER FOR YEAR 6 STUDENT, MACBOOK PRO 13.3" i5 WITH RETINA VS i7?

My son is a year 6 boy. He needs a macbook for his study (of cause he wants it for leisure). He choose from his school purchase program:
    Macbook Pro 13.3" - intel Dual-core 2.9Ghz Core i7/8 GB DDR3 RAM/750GB HDD/SDXC/Intel HD Graphics 4000/Super Drive/Bluetooth 4.0/802.11n wireless/Facetime HD camera/Aluminium (HKD$14013)
    vs
    Macbook Pro13.3" with retina display - Intel Dual-core 2.6GHz Core i5/8GB DDR3 RAM/256GB SSD Intel HD Graphics 4000/Bluetooth/Airport/Facetime HD camera/Alumium (HKD$15288)
Both with same Protection and Adobe CS6 Design package for teaching.
    Looking for your opinion
    Thanks

    6 year old boy?
    Don't you mean a 16 year old?
A 6 year old can barely lift a MacBook Pro and certainly can't use complicated CS6.
I wouldn't trust a 16 year old with a $2000-$3000 computer + $2000 in software unless they did some thing to earn it, a 6 year old will likely take it outside in the yard and smear mud all over it.
Most parents who get they kids a computer usually get a iMac as it's stationary and not prone to being lost, tossed or stolen.
Show me where this 6 year old is with a $2000 laptop and I'll show you a army of thugs waiting to take it from him.
